Conveniently located right on HWY 70, we are just a short drive to New Bern, the Crystal Coast, and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS Cherry Point).
Also close by are local features such as the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Tryon Palace Historical Site & Gardens, Fort Macon State Park, Cape Lookout National Seashore, Croatan National Forest, Flanners Beach, and the NC History Museum.

Between the akward manager doing breakfast putting out towels and checking in and out guest very slowly she decided to lie and say my daughters scratch art was ashes and when I told them they said it smelled like smoke. Breakfast was bad juices didn’t work pancakes were the size of quarters. Blind wouldn’t fully close so it was bright all night(I have pictures). Pull out couch totally disgusting I had to go ask for sheets to cover it. Not only did I have children in my room there is an open balcony and elevator right next to room 209 you would smell smoke everywhere.

Hates this place very unprofessional assistant manager never going to this hotel ever again. It was such a dirty room the cleaning ladies clearly didn’t do their job and there was water leaking from under the toilet

Don’t book standard room

Booked a room months in advance using a reward night. Only option is a standard room which says “When you arrive at the hotel we will do our best to meet your room type preference. This is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.” I called immediately and requested an upgrade to a two queen suite to have room for my family, which is usually never a problem at IHG properties since I have status. They said they couldn’t upgrade it at that time, but to check back when I was closer to the stay. I called twice during the week leading up to ask again and was told the manager would have to approve it and they weren’t available so I requested a return phone call. They never called back, but I can see that there is still availability on two queen suites on the day of the stay as we’re traveling into town so I’m not worried. However upon arriving to check in at the hotel at 10:30pm I am told they cannot give us anything other than a single king studio room as they have to save other rooms in case someone else needs one. At 10:30pm. They wouldn’t even put us in a room with two beds so I had 3 kids ages 11, 9 and 7 all on a fold out couch. Unbelievably poor customer service and we obviously will never stay at this property or any other Staybridge Suites in the future.

The Holiday Inn Northwest University Heights hotel offers spacious guest rooms and full suites, microwave and refrigerators in each guest room. Our famous hot breakfast buffet is a favorite, with the sparkling indoor pool, free internet, fitness and business center. With easy access to San Antonio International Airport, Military friendly, we are easy access to JBSA – Camp Bullis and Fort Sam Houston for our military groups and training programs. Our groups love to mingle and have "Ice Breaker" receptions at our Lobby Bar before going out to dinner at great local restaurants.

Check in process was ok even though this is the first location I’ve been to that makes you sign and initial physical forms.
Rooms were not thoroughly cleaned especially bathroom! The shower in the bathroom would not drain and the water would fill tub. I called to report 8am. I waited over 2hrs no one came so I left to head out for the day to assume it would be fixed upon return. I received a phone call about an hr after I left from Melinda who was completely rude. Telling me they can’t go in the room to fix shower because there was a do not disturb sign in the door. I was totally confused because we didn’t put a sign on the door. However, I stopped what I was doing drove 30mins back to hotel to check door. There was NO SIGN on our door rm #409 but there was a sign on #419 saying do not disturb. I took pics of both doors went to front desk to show them and Melinda rude again was just like well he went to wrong door we apologize, shrugging her shoulders! But argued me up and down on the phone telling me about a sign on my door that really wasn’t.

عند خروجي تم طلب تكسي من الامن لوجود حالة كبار سن ولم يتم خدمتي الامن قال فيه جوه نقل وفيه كداده هنا وراح وخلاني، وأود الاشاره الى موظفين الحجز طلبت منه غرفه مطله عالكعبه قال ماعندنا شي مطل كلها محجوزه واصلا ماعندنا شي مطل عالكعبه كلها مطله مدينه واتفاجا انه يوجد غرف مطله على الحرم المفروض يوضح انه فيه غرف مطله على الحرم بدل الكعبه

Room was Horrible and Stephanie is Extremely Rude!

When we arrived the room had such a strong smell of cigarettes, and there was a used nicotine patch stuck to the celling. There was also only 1 set of towels and there was no hot water. Went down to the front desk at 5:15am to speak with Stephanie. She was extremely rude and told me to just let the water run and it should get warm. When this did not work I went back down to ask for help. This is when I was told "there was no one she could call about the problem and and the she would tell *expletive* maintenance when they got there, or talk to management at 9am." She never told maintenance of the problem. When we got back and spoke to management, we then needed to pack up all of our stuff and move rooms. The new room was missing a toilet paper holder and the fridge was only big enough for 5 small bottles of water, (less than half the size of the one in the other room). I would avoid this establishment at all cost. There are several nicer cheaper places with in 2 miles.

Dirty bathroom

Disappointed

I was really excited about staying at Holiday Inn Express Mcdonough but unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Even though the check-in process was quick, they failed to inform us that the hotel would be full of numerous children over the entire weekend (I think there was a football tournament happening) and that the noise level etc. may get a little loud at time; right from the start, the stay was a mess. The evening staff on night 2 was unprofessional, and once I checked out, neither could figure out how to apply my AAA discount that I forgot to add to my reservation.
Once I finally got to my room, I was immediately disappointed. The room smelled musty, and even though I believe this hotel had some renovations, the carpets looked like they hadn’t been installed properly as there were corner areas where you could see the raw floor and drywall. The bathroom was semi-clean, I found hair on the floor and in the bathtub. Not to mention, the air conditioning was a older model and you had to really work to get it at a temperature, we cut it off after a while because the temperature kept moving on its own, mistake as when it was cut off, the moldy smell crept back.
The noise from the hallway and other rooms was unbearable. I could hear every footstep and conversation as if the walls were paper thin. Sleep was impossible.
When I raised these issues with the front desk, I was met with indifference and no real effort to resolve the situation. The staff didn’t seem to care, and I didn’t even get an apology for the poor condition of the room.
The coffee was okay, but the breakfast seemed to be inviting. Overall, I’m incredibly disappointed and will not be returning. I definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Disgusting place to stay.

Absolutely disgusting place to stay. The room was filthy, with stains, odors, and clear signs that it hadn’t been properly cleaned. The bathroom was unsanitary, and the bedding didn’t even feel fresh. On top of that, the staff was rude and unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone—do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!
