Good location, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend

I didn’t realize it would be a “historic” building — old building and dated decor. The bathroom was unbelievably tiny for adult patrons. The parking fee, for self parking no less, was excessive for the quality of the hotel. The location was fine. And the hospitality was good.

So Callled 4 Star Hotel

Very average hotel. Peeling wallpaper, rough bath towels( I have less skin now) , very limited and poor tv selections, weak internet. Doorman non- existence. Parking is an issues even in garage across the street. Biggest issues is extra hidden fees hotel adds on, Employee Healthcare fee sounds like owner needs to increase room cost or take classes in owning a business and cost involved in operating it. What's next cleaning maid outfit fees??? Will not stay here again or recommend .

Bad service

Bad experience checking in early. I was told by Alex that I had to wait until 4 PM. I asked if he would check and tried to give him my card with name on it, but he didn't want to look. As a platinum elite member, I was supposed to be able to check in early and we were only 1 hour early. We waited for about 40-45 min. People were walking in off the street with luggage and being given rooms. Finally after waiting 45 mins I went up and asked why we weren't being given a room. The lady then checked me in. I feel since we were waiting and they knew it, they should have called us up and given us a room before all the others coming in. We never received an apology from the people working at the desk. When I talked to them before check into out, they didn't give us any comps or extra points to make up for my wife and I's inconvenience. Another bad experience was when we tried to get a cab the lady at the desk called a cab and we waited for about 30 mins and when a cab showed up we got into the cab and Alex can out to hold the cab for another couple, and the lady at the front desk told Alex she called the cab for us and both of them argued in Spanish about it and we had to wait for another 10 minutes before the other couple showed up. Alex did this in spite because we called IHG to lodge a complaint about other people being checked in before us even though I am a platinum elite member. To top it off customer service at the hotel asked me what they can do to make it right I told them compensation of money or points would make it right on the 16the of march and on the 23 of March I checked back when them and they said they can’t do anything that management would have to do that and they would bring it up with management even though they said the same thing on the 16th of March and now it is the 25th of March and have not heard anything back from them. So I gave them time to make it right before I wrote this review! And as of the 25th of March the have not! So what good is it to be a platinum elite member, when they don’t honor any of the perks?

RFID and Hot Water

My business experience was the worse I've had in many many years. The key card system really handicapped your team and frustrated my stay GREATLY!! IMe and my family traveled to your front desk at least 12 times to my count, for a key card that would work properly.
Hot water was disconnected for hours on Wednesday or Thursday of our stay.
Can you please refund my stay at least one full day for the inconvenience during your Houston Rodeo week.

Horrible

The location and the general manager were the only things that was nice about our stay. There was dog food on the elevator food, a big brown stain in the carpet of the floor we stayed on. Carpet hasn’t been vacuumed in a while and the place has an odor to it. Our bathroom had hair in the tub and on the floor, toilet was dirty on the back of it, sheets had stains in them. Asked housekeeping for clean towels and they told us we had to get them from the front desk, so that was very frustrating. Housekeeping did not clean our room. It was just horrible. Sheets for the sofa couch weren’t in the room prior to us checking in, so had to go back downstairs to get sheets. Shower pressure was not that great

King verses queen

I had booked a king room, when i arrived I was given a queen room. I only book king rooms, never a queen. I asked the service desk to switch and he instructed me that no king rooms are available, seemed odd. The hotel did not seem to be that full.
The king beds are more comfortable and match closer to my personnel bed at home, did not sleep well at all.
I also believe I paid more for the king room, did not get my value for sure, little disappointed in the stay.

Not Recommended

I would not recommend this IHG location. The hotel is very old and out of date (to be fair they were announcing new renovations coming this year 2025, but they were not done yet and it is clear that maintenance has been neglected for a while). In addition I was in my room the day I checked in and about two hours later someone else opened my door and walked in my room! The front desk had given someone else my same room that I was already in. Finally I had paid for a king suite room. When I was checking out I asked if the room I was in was really a king suite because it seemed small and the desk told me it was actually a standard room even though I had paid for a king suite - they said they would talk to their manager. Well it has been a week and no contact has been made to me. All this adds up to a hotel that does not value the people who are staying there. I would highly recommend going to a different location - I won't be staying a this one again even after the renovations.
