Hidden scams

The broken shuttle to the airport was not advertised in the booking (we were sent an email a few hours before our bookong from the hotel) so we kept our rental car for an extra day only to havw to pay an extortionate amount for parking. A continental breakfast was advertised and what we got was two slices of break and some jam in a plastic bag.

Its Okay. Old and Needs Some Updates

First of all, I would like to say that our staff was very friendly and nice with everything I brought to their attention. However, we did have several issues with our stay. 1.) Our door did not shut without us have to push our whole body against it. When we mentioned it to the front desk, they said its an old building and there was nothing they could do. Randomly, our dead bolt would pop open as we tried to close it as well. 2.) Because of COVID, you have to request your room to be cleaned (which I understand). We went through the process and turned in our sheet before the deadline. At 3:30 pm, we noticed that the housekeeper was on our floor still but had not done our room yet. We we left at 4:00, she was no longer on our floor. I stopped by the front desk to make sure our room was still on the list to be cleaned and we were not being skipped. They assured me we were. However, when we arrived back at 8:00, our room had not been touched. So we had trash, dirty towels, etc in a room for our whole stay. 3.) I have an allergy and rely on the fridge to store my food I have to bring with me. The fridge was so cold (with no way to adjust it), that my food was completely frozen. Like can't stick a fork in it frozen. I had to go buy new food and all of that was wasted. 4.) On Sunday morning, our bathroom sink backed up, leaving black yuckiness all over. When I called the front desk, they said this happens sometimes. 5.) The air conditioner would not kick on during the night. I set it all the way down to 60 and it would not kick on, leaving the room really warm each night. 6.) The Breakfast. While I understand that different precautions have to be made with food during this time, we were only offered a sack breakfast with fruit, muffin, etc. We have stayed at many hotels during this time that still offer a hot breakfast (just served by an employee). I feel like they could make better arrangements. Everyone I know who got this bag did not eat it, leaving us all on our own to go out and get breakfast when this should be included in our rate.

Excellent staff

This hotel is in a great location, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I’ve stayed here 4 times in the last year, and every stay, my room (and in one instance, the entire floor) smelled like animal urine.

Our room smelled like smoke. The bathroom toilet didn't not appear to have been cleaned.We asked to be moved it never happened. The pool heater was not working and it hadn't been for some time. Breakfast choices were poor. We had shells we picked up from sanibel island and put them under our car to dry In a bag. They were stolen by someone!

The suite was nice, but the fireplace is NOT gas as advertised.
We were hoping for a nice warm GAS fireplace when it was SO cold out.
We liked having two rooms.
The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner; there were long black hairs on the floor that were not ours.

This isn’t my first time staying here and this time was just like the last. I don’t think any type of improvement is put into this hotel. Last time I stayed here the lights went out in my room all of a sudden for no reason among other little small things. This time my keys to my room deactivate literally every time I leave out of my room it seems. The washer was broken due to still using quarters (not updated). When I went to turn on my TV the last night of my stay-it didn’t work. There are just always little things that aren’t up to standards whenever I stay here and it leads me to believe that this hotel isn’t taken care of the way it should be .

Only time we had an issue

This is a great property in a great location. Rooms are spacious and have anything you could need. We ended up with a room that had a broken thermostat on a very cold winter night and were forced to stay in a room that never reached higher than 59 degrees. The issue was not addressed the two separate times we brought it to staff attention. We will likely stay again as we have had many precious stays with no issue.
