Fraudulent Charges on Credit Card

I caught fraudulent charges by the hotel and even after showing my proof that I had paid for it 6 months prior, it took over 2 hours of arguing and then contacting IHG by chat to get the manager to take the issue seriously to fix it. And several small details throughout our stay.

Weak Service and Compromise

- I have no any feelings that I am the platinum card owner in your group, no any recognization, all my requests are rejected! I have totally different feelings as I check ed in in the Beijing Zhongguanzun Crowne Plaza Hotel. My question is, are you totally different hotels in different group? Or are you so independent and so special? I spent almost 20 days in the past half years in your hotel, and I will not spend one day more in the future!

Hotel Renovation

We arrived at the hotel 31/3/25 and were shocked to see what can only be described as a building site outside! We were really annoyed as I would have thought with the amount of work going on we should have been informed, this was really poor customer service on the hotels part. Parking was really difficult and there were no disabled spaces that we could see. On checking in the receptionist advised we had an upgrade……this turned out not to be as good as it sounded on floor 3 front facing as work was being carried out on the lifts and also extensive heavy work to the front with horrendous noise ( we travelled from Glasgow and were up at 4 in the morning so hoped to get our heads down for a couple of hours on arrival, this was impossible!). We did look at the possibility of booking another hotel but either prices were too expensive or there was no availability. After discussing with the Manager as we had already booked the evening dinner in the hotel restaurant we were told 50% would be deducted from each main meal, we agreed thinking this was a decent gesture but the menu changed that day, we both chose the crispy chicken schnitzel and some kind of garlic potatoes, the meal was very poor and certainly not crispy. What really annoyed both myself and wife was on checking out when the receptionist asked if we had a good stay, we said no not really, it’s like living on a building site. The receptionist just laughed, i advised it really wasn’t a laughing matter and at that we’re met with silence!! We have used this hotel numerous times over the last 20 years of cruising and had several issues over the last 3 years. This time we will definitely not be returning, which is disappointing as the hotel is a great location.

Shocking service!

I have complained and had such a poor experience and I am so shocked no one has come back to me. I can only assume it was due to them knowing how bad this experience was. I have already informed friends and family and they can't believe it. I have a video and pictures for Proof and your team and your out of hours member on the phone.
Firstly when I arrived to hotel, your team gave me room 111 and it was still obviously just been used. Not cleaned, bed all over place, used towel, previous members drinks and cups. I showed the desk this and they gave me a level 2 room. When I went to bed the bed lights wouldn't turn off. I called the desk and the out of hours number. They member came upstairs. I asked him to turn the lights off to see if it was me doing something incorrect. He couldn't turn them off. The person on the phone was apologising and the person with me said he would give me another room...he said he would be back. I waited for a while and realised it took some time, so I went to reception....he wasn't even rushing to support me and just decided to mop around reception. I said to him what is going on? He obviously forgot or didn't care and then he gave me a card and took me to a room on ground floor.
Due to all this I didn't get to bed until around 3am. I missed my paid breakfast also.
This was the worst experience I have ever had. Had to go to 3 different rooms, staff forgetting about me, a room where lights don't turn off...I have a video. And a room not cleaned at all and given to me...I have pictures.
I paid over £100 for the room and breakfast.
Please therefore give me a refund. I will be looking to take this further as this is really poor.

Outdated a bit. Staff didn’t help us at check in. Didn’t respect us or our needs. Treated us very poorly. Outright yelled at us for trying to get our luggage. We weren’t the only ones with this experience. The folks walking next to us had the same issue. The bathroom had a leaky toilet that was constantly running. The mattresses need to be replaced. There isn’t a way to get darkness. The tv mirroring didn’t work. Which might have been wifi or tv. Not sure which.

Our first room had a broken show door and the toilet.
The 2nd room have lights not working. And the shower door was off track.

The Holiday Inn Express Bloomington West hotel is conveniently located off I-55 and I-74 and in close proximity to many area businesses such as Grossinger Motors, State Farm, Shirk Center, Asmark Institute-Agri Center and Rivian Automotive. Also located near our hotel is Heartland Community College, Illinois State & Illinois Wesleyan Universities.
We are just a few minutes from the Bloomington Normal-Central Illinois Regional Airport (BMI) and the Amtrak train station. Bloomington was recently voted one of the five best places in America to golf, as it offers renowned courses such as the Den at Fox Creek and Prairie Vista Golf Course, both within five minutes of our hotel. We are a short drive from Mackinaw Winery as well as Sunset Lake Vineyards and Winery. Families will enjoy our close proximity to various fun attractions for the including Children's Discovery Museum, Miller Park Zoo, Trampoline Parks, Escape Rooms, Virtual Reality Arena and Water Parks.
While with us, enjoy our indoor heated pool and whirlpool, our complimentary limited hot breakfast buffet, blazing fast free WiFi as well as our numerous local favorite restaurants!

Clean but a bit worn and weird

Hotel is totally clean and serviceable. Staff are friendly.
The rooms have almost all the right things absent the normal USB ports that you usually find. There are chairs and couches and a bed and lamps and carpet. Nothing is threadbare, but they are showing their age.
The mattresses need to be replaced - flat out. They are old and saggy and smelly. Same with the pillows. Sheets were fine. Standard issue HI Express.
The weirdness is the bathroom. The jacuzzi style tub makes the bathroom awkward. Makes it feel like a leftover No Tell Mo Tel. The water in the room was hooked up backwards on the shower which took me more than a few minutes to figure out. Standing in the middle of the ginormous tub to take a shower was downright odd.
Towels were plentiful and clean and in good shape.

View on one side is the freeway and the other is an equipment reseller - there is nothing scenic here. That is what it is.
The heat/a-c units are old and noisy. They do the job (like I said, perfectly serviceable) but they are way dated and likely need to be replaced with something quieter and more modern.
If you have to stay here - go over to Rosie’s Pub for dinner. Fried pickles are great. Gouda Burger is over the top amazing.
There is another HI Express up near the Bloomington Airport that is supposedly nicer. I may try that next time.
Front desk staff are super friendly which is always appreciated.

Mediocre, but kind staff.

We ran into several issues while staying at this hotel, but Nayelis at the front desk stayed on top of it and was as kind as could be. She ensured she would do what she could and did just that. Nayelis, you’re amazing!!
Roxanne was kind and helpful as well and we are appreciative to her, too.
This hotel is only about a 15 minute walk to two different stations for transportation into NYC and a good location if you’re looking for a decent priced hotel not in the hustle and bustle of the city.
The breakfast isn’t much, but it’s complimentary and my kids were happy and I’m good with that.

Overall, we would stay here again if going back.
Roxanne was kind and helpful as well and we are appreciative to her, too.
This hotel is only about a 15 minute walk to two different stations for transportation into NYC and a good location if you’re looking for a decent priced hotel not in the hustle and bustle of the city.
The breakfast isn’t much, but it’s complimentary and my kids were happy and I’m good with that.
