Horrific Customer Service

My wife and I checked into Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charlotte Southwest on 16MAR2025, 4pm. The person staffing the front desk was exceptionally rude and dismissive. After she robotically recited all the standard check-in verbiage, she processed our room keys and slid them 2 inches away from her keyboard. I asked her if she was going to hand me the keys and she bluntly stated "no." I had to reach over into her work station to retrieve the room keys. Twenty minutes later, we and two other guests were unable to access the hotel through the pool/patio area door. We banged on the door and eventually this same staff member opened the door for us acting extremely inconvenienced by having to help her hotel guests. Her toxic attitude screamed out - I'm too good for this job and hotel guests are nothing more than an interruption to my day. Needless to say, we expect much better service from an IHG property. Lastly, housekeeping failed to install a shower curtain in our room, making the morning shower a dicey proposition, at best. Never in my life have I stayed at a hotel without a shower curtain. Again - unacceptable.

Poor hotel

Cold room, hearing didnt work, dark room, I worked in the restaurant area instead. Heating on for 60mins and still blew cold. Had to ask for an additional quilt. Kettle in room broken. Bathroom door handle faulty. My upgrade was a room overlooking a car park. Very poor stay for a Platinum member! I was appalled

Disappointing

As a Diamond member, I was disappointed in this stay. I checked in online when I got the notice to. it never gave me any option for my Welcome Amenity and the clerk didn’t have an option to select anything when we checked in at the front desk. She “assumed” the bonus points would be added. The air conditioner rattled loudly the entire time making sleep difficult. And I am charged basically the same points (redeemed points for the room) as I would have been charged if I stayed at IHG property right next door. Why when you do not include breakfast? I had to purchase my breakfast and it was cold and flavorless.

Front desk did not acknowledge that I was a member and didn’t offer any information about the property. Felt rushed and like they couldn’t wait to get rid of me so they could get back to their conversations or phones. Anything other than making me feel welcome! Poor service with each interaction.

We will not be back

The room was nothing fancy but could have used some extra cleaning. The reason we will not visit again is due to the service and the breakfast options. The only thing they had on their breakfast was one omelet and some turkey sausage that had hard chunks in it. There was cereal with no milk. There was bread for toast but no butter was out. When we asked they said there was some in the fridge. It was an old bottle of squeeze butter that was almost out.

This hotel is very confused on how to make reservations

My reservation was a mess. I was told I had to switch rooms in the morning. When I got to other room it was the same exact room setup. The staff said they only had 1 bed. My mom got her room after me and got 2 beds? Every time my family and I sat in lobby we received bad looks and remarks. We were told it was too late to sit down there. Then a hour later they set up for people to turn tv on to watch a game. I would not recommend this hotel if you’re looking to rest and relax. I am home now and so tired my husband and I had to sleep on 1 bed with my 2 babies. Also my dad was in other room and had to leave because he could not sleep on the mattress was all springs and old.

Old and Dirty.

The toilet didn’t flush. There looked to be bucket sized stains of what looked to be old blood on the wood floor next to the chipped wood window that if you touched the wood would result in splinters . The free upgraded jet tub was filthy . The scent of not only the room but the entire property was that of cigarettes and marijuna. I get its downtown cleveland but for 39.00 valet that were nowhere to be found and what i paid for the room rate you would at least expect the toilet to flush . Worst holiday inn experience by far . I felt like i was in a trap house.

Ac didn't work

I’m disappointed with my recent stay. The AC in our room didn’t work the entire day. After being out all day and returning to a hot room, I contacted the front desk, and an engineer came around 9 PM. Unfortunately, the AC still didn’t work through the night, leaving the room unbearably hot. I had to leave the balcony door open just to get some fresh air, which made it hard to sleep comfortably. For the price and reputation of this hotel, I expected better maintenance and quicker resolution to such an essential issue

Very Comfortable bed

Outside of not having any hot water for a shower in the morning the hotel was great. They were supposed to compensate me with points, but I haven’t seen any points on my account. Would not stay again. Stayed in two holiday inns on my trip bad experience at both hotels.
