Welcome to the Holiday Inn Alexandria - Downtown in the heart of Alexandria, Louisiana. The hotel is five city blocks off of Interstate 49 resting on the banks of the Red River. The Holiday Inn Alexandria - Downtown is Alexandria's premier full service hotel. We have Crossroads Tavern, Southern Heritage Bank branch and Aesthetician and Gold Dust Studio. The hotel has 11,800 sq. feet of meeting space and is attached to Alexandria Riverfront Center; which can accommodate larger groups. Enjoy the revitalized downtown entertainment district of Alexandria within a few steps of the front door. Centrally located between Shreveport and Baton Rouge off of I 49, a little over three hours NW of New Orleans, and less than an hour South from historic Natchitoches along the Cane River.
Dine at Crossroads Tavern and enjoy a specialty southern cocktail. Or sit in the mall area of the hotel and enjoy a cup of coffee or one of our signature coffee specialty drinks from the Coffee Corner. The hotel also has a gym, pool, and laundry room and we are a pet friendly hotel, so bring your best friend and spend some quality time in the dog park adjacent to the hotel. For the business traveler we are centrally located and no more than five minutes from all major industry in Alexandria Pineville.

It Could Not Have Been Worse!

IHG should be ashamed to have this hotel as part of their offerings. This property is disgusting. It is old run down and filthy. From the lobby restrooms to the room hallways carpeting. The place was understaffed and overwhelmed. From one desk clerk to rude desk clerks. The carpet in the room hallways and in the rooms was filthy. Black mold in bathrooms and in air conditioning units. The water also had an adverse odor. I was in such a hurry to get out of that place, that I left some of my personal items. I would never recommend this trashy place to anyone. It should be totally renovated, not remodeled, or demolished.

Disappointing this visit

Stayed here plenty of times but not so good this time.
Perfunctory check-in staff - gave usual speech re IHG rewards but as I am Gold now it counts for little.
Didn't give us 2 keys as asked for and didn't tell us the Wifi password. Didn't get the usual welcome letter in the room from the manager.
Put us down the furthest end of the corridor which was OK until the kitchen extractors started up at 5am in the morning. We didn't have the air conditioning on as its very noisy.
At check-out they suggested we could have moved rooms at 5am !
Breakfast OK as usual.

Kitchen staff problems

There is one guy on the breakfast crew that has the ability to ruin someone's trip. I witnessed him talking to a guest like a dog for not putting the tongs back the right way. Made the entire room uncomfortable. To be honest, everything else about the stay was good, but no one wants their vacation ruined by an altercation at breakfast.

The lock on the door of our room was fickle; key card was active but did not work properly; had to jiggle and play with the card in the lock to get it to work.
Had to run water in the bathroom for at least 5 minutes to get "warm" water; a waste of water.

Good location but disappointing service and pool quality

The location of the hotel is great but unfortunately the care from the reception staff was disappointing and the pool chlorine levels were way to high and ruined our stay.

Fire alarm problems and stink bug infestation

the first 2 nights the fire alarm went off multiple times. We asked about it and there was no fire or smoke just a malfunction both ties both nights. The 3rd night the stink bugs showed up. Where you ask? I did too! The problems with stink bugs is if you kill them they stink, if you don't they crawl everywhere. Big to small they were everywhere and no less than 20-30 of them in the room. Luckily that was our last day and we were leaving.

Clean modern rooms, rude staff

Rooms were clean and modern. Breakfast was good but the front desk staff were very rude on several occasions to multiple members of my group. I'm not usually one to complain or write these types of reviews, but I'm also not used to people being rude to me because I am usually very polite to staff.
