Welcome to the Holiday Inn Alexandria - Downtown in the heart of Alexandria, Louisiana. The hotel is five city blocks off of Interstate 49 resting on the banks of the Red River. The Holiday Inn Alexandria - Downtown is Alexandria's premier full service hotel. We have Crossroads Tavern, Southern Heritage Bank branch and Aesthetician and Gold Dust Studio. The hotel has 11,800 sq. feet of meeting space and is attached to Alexandria Riverfront Center; which can accommodate larger groups. Enjoy the revitalized downtown entertainment district of Alexandria within a few steps of the front door. Centrally located between Shreveport and Baton Rouge off of I 49, a little over three hours NW of New Orleans, and less than an hour South from historic Natchitoches along the Cane River.
Dine at Crossroads Tavern and enjoy a specialty southern cocktail. Room Odor Unbearable

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel. Will not stay here again based on the absolutely horrid smell the room had. It was so bad that all my clothes in my suitcase smelled like it after I left. Was hard to sleep and when I presented to housekeeper they sprayed a deodorizer that lasted maybe 30 minutes. It almost smelled like a dog had been living in the room for months. Very disappointed.

Gross mystery stains on chair

We enjoyed the size of the king room, but the recliner chair had gross mystery stains on it. Then there were weird like almost like wood chips on the floor on the one side of the bed by the side table.

Poor Service NO hair dryer or Coffee maker

This is the first time we had such a poor experience with Holiday Day Inn Express. We have been staying in IHG for 25 years. And I have never had to write a review.
We did not have a coffee maker or hair dryer in the room. We asked for the hair dryer and it took several hours to get that. When it was delivered to the room my husband asked for the coffee maker and the employee said he would get us one. NEVER had a coffee maker delivered to the room. My husband had to take the body lotion container apart to get any lotion out of the bottle.
I would like to recommend that you keep the cover on the cinnamon rolls when they are in the warmer as it keeps them from drying out. AS I said we stay in many IHG properties, and they all have the covers on the rolls and it keeps them moist.
Overall I would say the customer service attitude was the big complaint. And housekeeping should make sure all the Amenities are in the room.

Room not to my satisfaction

Good things: large bathroom, friendly staff, washcloth nice and fluffy. I was recognized as a Platinum member.
Bad things: I had to push and pull very hard to open and close it. Smoke detector was unplugged from the ceiling and laying on the shelf. Chair in room was very old and worn. Power outlet by bed not working. Toilet seat very loose. Small TV with no channel guide. Curtains falling off rod, so I couldn't block out the outside light. No lotion, but 3 bottles of soap. 2 hairs in the shower.
TV was not working, but maintenance was able to fix it.

A modern Northampton hotel within easy reach of the town centre, with a smart restaurant and excellent event facilities.

Beds too soft, Shower overflows, TV has apps that you can't use so what's the point, Can hear when people leave or come back due to doors slamming, Aircon sounds like jet taking off. Oh and bed rolls everytime you get on it.

Enforce No Smoking

As you enter the rear of the building there are always people standing in or around the doorway smoking. It's a violation of State law you need to be 8-10 feet away and they refuse to do anything.
