Holiday inn express are known for their breakfast amenity. I enjoyed their breakfast selections and would look forward to experience what the staff created for that day. Their breakfast is well curated using limited ingredients and ecofriendly techniques to help avoid food waste. They come up with creative ways to serve you breakfast, I think my favorite has been the juice fridge, where you can pick up a drink to try from teas to juices. Everything was such a well balanced meal.
As a hotel chain, I like how they keep in mind their waste. I find it clever how they utilize and maximize their usage in a few ingredients as well. I miss the most is the staff and the breakfast.
The location of the hotel is convenient to get to the airport because the public transportation is right outside. But, also the staff is friendly and has experience working with an international clientele.

Niigata is a city that has a local hometown feeling.
I don't expect chain hotels to be more than a comfortable place to stay in during travel. However, this hotel had a charm to it where it felt more local than just a chain. Everything that they do, they curate the guest's experience to have that local hometown charm.
Upon checking in I was given local drink choices to experience because of the platinum perks. These where so unique because of it being only from that part of the region. Next, experiencing the shops/restaurants/cafe and what they had to offer was such a unique experience because they served local ingredients from Niigata. Sometimes as a guest with limited time, trying to figure out what to eat can be difficult, but the hotel curates the meals where getting a taste of it will be enough to get you started.
I was surprised to see in the cafe *which was my favorite on the go snacks and bites* croquettes and freshly made bread/desserts. Usually can be found in local bakeries or shops. But to see it and have it there was so exciting for me to be able to take a walk and purchase some. Locals enjoy eating the food being served and I thought it was charming to include that into the hotel.
The hotel's location is near shops/ other local cuisines which I recommend for anyone who is staying here for a short stay. Its not too far from public transportation and its conveniently located especially if you are headed to the airport.
The rooms are spacious, with good amenities. The bed is big and comfortable for a good night rest. But, I think my favorite amenity in the room was the hojicha tea, not sure where it sourced from but it is delicious! Along with the eye mask to help you destress and unwind after a long day.

Step into sophistication in our Club InterContinental for a reprieve from the hustle and bustle outside, and enjoy a calming, comfortable stay in one of our 801 guest rooms.
I have heard many great things about the ANA Intercontinental Hotel, that it is one of the best hotels to stay in from around the world. The hotel has won many awards for its' hospitality. That being said, this had me curious to try out this hotel.
I was met with such a wonderful surprise when I stayed here. Upon entering the hotel, there was a live pianist playing above the dinner area and a cafe area sitting on the right side of the hotel.
Checking in was seamless, the staff is versatile in knowledge/ languages. They had a welcome packet set up for me as I checked in and even in the room there was QR codes setup around incase there are any questions. I happened to have a question that I forgot to ask the front desk and called them using the phone in the room. They answered promptly and efficiently.
Just on this experience alone, I noticed the staff is well organized with working with international guests of all kinds. The communication from the staff is on point.
I was able to stay in one of their newly renovated rooms. I usually don't get my hopes up because in a major city, I don't expect spacious rooms. However I was surprised when I first entered the room. It was well lit with soft lighting, the room was much more spacious than I thought. Between the bed and the couch/table there was plenty of room to walk around the room itself. I think the bathroom was nicely laid out, with the setup of the tub next the the shower area. But, my favorite part about the whole room was the view of the Tokyo tower. The room I had, was a direct view to it and at night, I would enjoy dinner watching the tower glisten and glitter.
The bed was thoughtfully curated by the staff, everything from the pillow to the firmness of the bed was picked out by them to help visitors experience a relaxing sleep cycle. I believe this was an interesting touch to the restful experience they are trying to create because the pillow has beads instead of feathers. Which is used to support your neck and head. At first, I thought it was strange until my first night, I slept well.
One regret I have while staying there was not finding the time to explore their restaurants more due to my busy schedule. Their buffet is top class bringing in local/regional ingredients from across Japan. In the morning, I would find time to stop by their cafe and they offer classic staples but also will have specials such as items from a regional part of Japan. Everything was delicious.

For being my first time in Taiwan, I appreciated the stay here in the hotel. It has a unique freshness and creativity when it comes to their design of the rooms/bathrooms.
I enjoy the location because with needing to commute to the main part of the city. This location is nearby and close to all public transportations. It is also surrounded by shops/restaurants/ local neighborhood eateries. You are getting an experience of both traditional and new.
Also, what many people don't realize is the location of the hotel plays a huge part in commuting into the central part of the city. Which is that all transportation going in/out of the city must transfer in the central location. Avoid the headache of staying outside of the city, and it will be a much enjoyable commute. Unless you are planning to stay further down in Taiwan.
The staff here is courteous and thoughtful, they recognized my status and when first landing in they had put together a gift for me on the week of my birthday. I hope they see this, and know I appreciate their kindness so much.
On to the rooms, the rooms are spacious and are designed with a fresh modern/ pop colored. The textures in the room are vibrant and colorful. It embodies the art of the city itself.
I wish I had time to experience a little bit more of their amenities such as the restaurant/bar space. The drinks were delicious so I can only imagine what the experience of the restaurant would be like. The other amenities such as the fitness center is clean and has some equipment. It is in a smaller space, but usually there isn't too many people there.
If you are feeling tired of central city, there are many shops/malls/entertainment centers near to explore.
