Avoid like the plague.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. Terrible staff and nearly equally bad room. The parking is valet only and there is no safe in the room, so plan on carrying all of your valuables with you the entire time.

One star for cleanliness

First when we arrived to our room, there were no towels. We tried calling and the phone was broken so we went back down to the lobby where they gave us towels but when I got back to the room I noticed one of the towels was significantly stained with makeup. It made me wonder if it was cleaned at all. I also noticed trash still in the room from the previous guest. It seems housekeeping did an incomplete job in cleaning the room. This made me feel uncomfortable getting into bed. It was disappointing considering I like IHG but I’ll consider it was just this property. Holiday inn express is really hit or miss in my experience

Noisy and uncomfortable

I am an IHG Rewards member and We usually stay at the HI Express on the White Horse Pike, but it was not available. I figured we’d try this hotel instead thinking how much different could they possibly be? Well the difference is night and day. Check in was fine but upon arriving to our room, I realized my preference for a room away from the elevators had not been met but I didn’t make a big deal about it figuring they were probably booked, and they were. Everything was clean in the room and it was fine for one night. However the mattress was very uncomfortable and the pillows like marshmallows, so neither my husband nor I got a decent nights sleep. I even woke up in pain. Then there was an exorbitant amount of noise in the hallway starting from 630 in the morning and on until we left. Being close to the elevators we also heard the bell every time someone used it. You would think you wouldn’t have to tell people to keep the noise level down so early in the morning between talking and playing music loudly, but some people just really don’t care about others. People were also outside making a ruckus and it woke us up. I know you can only control so much as far as that goes but maybe something like “quiet hours” needs to be put in place. It was as if a party was going on in the room next door. We never experienced anything like this at the other location even in the dead of summer and I will not be returning to this hotel again. I’ll pay extra to ensure a good nights sleep there. I am disappointed as I had hoped it would have been just as good a stay as at other HI Express hotels we’ve been to, but it fell far short.

Air conditioning not working properly

The room was nice but the air conditioning wasn’t. We also had to carry our bags up and down two sets of small stairs. I am capable but an older couple probably not. Nice hotel but for the price my room wasn’t because of ac unit. I should have asked for another room but wasn’t offered either so I moved to another hotel.

Great hotel-food was disappointing

My kids loved this place and the multiple pools were a hit. The balcony view was also a big plus. However, the kids' VIP/eat free experience was a major disappointment due to multiple issues at the restaurant including lack of communication in advance about the kids' menu, poor service, and food being out of stock and meal times. It was also a true disappointment for the management to not acknowledge multiple emails and attempts to reach a person to discuss.

Great location, the size of room was huge, housekeeping staff was phenomenal.
The noise from hallways and other rooms is significant. The hotel must be renovated, the carpets and dim lighting make it look dirty all the time even when it's clean.

Pros: Large room with nice blackout curtains throughout. Large breakfast selection. Convenient location. Quiet. Very friendly customer service. Beautiful view from living room window.
Cons: The main complaint: the elevator was broken on my checkout day, and I was on the third floor with my baby. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so climbing up and down three flights of stairs with a baby on my hip was excruciating, and caused a bad flare-up in my knees.
The room was dusty and the floor was filthy. My daughter and I had dirty feet after an evening of walking barefoot in our room.
