Holiday Inn Lumberton NC

Nice new hotel. Easy to get to off I 95. Room was new. Carpet, beds, and bathroom were nice looking. Unfortunately the walls are thin. Room next door had a service dog. I had to call the front desk to get the door to stop barking. A section of the hotel should be use for animals. The hotel is new. So it was not over booked. I would recommend a section of the hotel be used for animals.

Lousy staff and service

1. staff unfriendly and unhelpful and generally had no interest from the front desk staff to the driver for the bus and the bellboy.

i guess that i came from Crowe Plaza HY 36 so thought all the crowne plaza's were the same. but this crowne plaza taught me differently.
Dont think they deserve the CP name. I usually stay at the times square location but then tried the HY 36 and that was good as well......but then crowne plaza JFK (thumbs down) categorically.

First time Poor Experience with IHG

I felt like, I'm first a time customer for IHG :(
Room Cleanliness was very bad and everything looks overused. Breakfast Choices was not that great. Did not allow us early check-in despite the availability of the room.

Lax check-in security procedures with an uncomfortable bed

My wife and were there just to get a good nights' sleep and then continue on to Chesapeake VA but it did not work out as intended. Unfortunately, the staff there do not all know or follow their check-in procedures equally as another customer opened our hotel room door at 1 A.M. The next morning the staff there did not seem as concerned about it as we were and were primarily seeking to know who was working on the late shift. We were offered points as an after thought. Perhaps this type of scenario has happened to other guests but this is a first time for us. The bed was very uncomfortably firm but it was a nice hotel room otherwise.

Not even a cup of coffee

So the room and hotel were OK.
The thing that was infuriating was that there was no breakfast available. We asked at the front desk and were told nobody showed up?
The other thing that was really weird is that coffee was not available!
I would think all staff members should be able to prepare the coffee, but apparently the young lady handling the desk the morning we were there was new??
Also the jetted tub in our room had mold all over it.

This hotel is relatively new, but I got the feeling that they are having issues. The breakfast was not of good quality, The orange juice was watered down, the only other choice was apple juice. There was no milk available. Housekeeping does not come into your room if you are staying for more than a day, so we got grocery sacks from a relative to dispose of the trash daily ourselves. I can only speak for our room, but it needed a thorough cleaning. While we were there, there were quite a few families there for a baseball tournament. There were kids running in the hallways every night ( I realize that is the fault of the parents, not the hotel.) The choice of TV channels was not very good.

At check in I requested to use my credit card for incidentals and would pay with a different form at the end and come to find out she pre authorized both of my cards "holding" the funds off the debit card that I intended to pay for at the end of the trip. I work in hotels and know to pre-auth with a credit card and final payment can be whatever you want it to be. So that was 1 issue. The bathroom did not have a trash can in it. Then the fire alarm as we were trying to sleep and it continued to go off in the middle of the night with no acknowledgement of it being done or completed. I made requests for the room prior to arrival and those too were not completed. I also don't feel the description of the room was very detailed online. So overall it was just an okay place to stay. Maybe for 2 people not a girls weekend. I was celebrating my Bachelorette weekend and thought the room was going to provide more. The best part I suppose was the location of the hotel. I should also mention the food from the lobby bar to an extremely long time for a sandwich and chips when there were only a handful of people at the bar.

The property was very conveniently located however it is outdated and the price of parking was ridiculous. For a Crown Plaza I was expecting a little more cleaner. Many I stay in are renovated and updated.
