Wow...really in need of an upgrade and cleaning

This hotel is in dire need of an upgrade.
Peeling paint, spiders in the room, internet down for half of our stay,
Bathroom smelled (toilet was leaking), only one TV was working, kitchen cabinets loose, light bulbs out in bedroom. A sticky feeling on hart surfaces. NOT A PLEASANT PLACE TO STAY.

Comfortable Bed

I expected more for this to be a boutique hotel. Servers in restaurant area were pleasant along with front desk gentleman at check in and check out. Menu selections are few. Room furnishings were not up to par and seem substandard as they appeared to be rusty. Bed was comfortable. Shower had low water pressure, but was quite spacious; commode seemed to have a hard time flushing; curtains torn; desk chair was torn; cigarette burns on very small balcony; foul stench in breezeway. Great choice of bath soaps, lotions, & shampoo; Keurig in room with preferred coffee pod and coffee mate creamers

Poor upkeep/cleanliness, AGAIN

...so simple to listen to your employees/guests. More than 90% of our stays with IHG resulted in negative feelings regarding room cleanliness and safety. These two principles cannot impact your costing, as it is expected from the industry IHG must compete with. Individual property owners must be held to higher standards, or IHG will fail.

Holiday Inn Express Tamworth

Our welcoming, lakeside Holiday Inn Express Tamworth hotel is just moments from the M42 and in walking distance of historic Tamworth town centre, Tamworth Castle and the train station. We're neighbours with the SnowDome, Drayton Manor is a ten minute drive away, and Birmingham Airport, NEC and city centre are all around a half an hour's drive so we're not just ideally located for Tamworth itself. Our guests enjoy modern, en suite rooms, free WiFi and buffet breakfast. If you're visiting on business, you can host and attend meetings in our four conference rooms. The Great Room is a relaxed spot to enjoy dinner and drinks, and food is available 24/7 so you can always grab a bite to eat at our Tamworth hotel.

Check in awful.. Had to pay £100 deposit for any damage to room. Lol.. The room was already damaged before we checked in!!

Already explained why our stay was not satisfactory. Poor check in, to be told we had to pay an excess charge for damages to room??? The room was less than perfect. The fact that we weren't advised of this when we booked was not acceptable.... As a member of the IHG group, very disappointed.

Bathroom has mold in shower, toilet space crowded, door is very narrow. This hotel needs immediate maintenance concerns to be addressed. The the price I paid, I expect more.

Average hotel provides average experience

There was nothing really bad but also nothing amazing about my stay. The room was nice. However the staff was fairly unprofessional. I had to wait for someone for a while to check in. Then when I got back around 10pm that evening I was greeted with the bartender yelling "the bar is still open" while he sat and laughed with the front desk staff. I then had to wait for someone again at check out since I needed a receipt. Again, the room was fine and the hotel is average but the staff brought the experience down.
