Discover Lumina on Wrightsville Beach, a reimagined resort that draws on the storied history of a beloved beach pavilion. Designed in a bygone era to showcase the marvel of electricity, the original Lumina shone so brightly that sailors navigated their ships by it – and generations of beach-lovers navigated their social lives around it.
We recapture that spirit today in a resort space lit with camaraderie, beckoning visitors and locals alike with dazzling hospitality. Certain guest room here enjoys an ocean view; most have balconies and some have bunk beds to better accommodate families. Recreation opportunities abound, with three pools and direct beach access, a hammock garden, even a beachfront fitness center, plus a full slate of onsite activities and entertainment. The best food on the beach is right here, too, from fine cocktails and cuisine to bar bites and local brews.

No room service, no maid service, no dice...

This was a huge disappointment and a very expensive one, we were told we would get the AARP rate of 350.00 a night and it ended up being more than that, and one night they charged us the full 600.00! We were also told the breakfast was included only to get a bill after getting down there for the buffet. This and there was no room service, no maid service, no water in the room, a bottle of water downstairs was 5.00. It was way to expensive for such little service. We won't be returning to this hotel. Also the floors in the room and in the bathroom were slippery.

Unable to contact hotel

I booked this hotel for a contractor of ours, that was going to be in the area doing some work, for us.
Once she got there the staff at check in was less than friendly and acted as if they didn't want to be there. I get everyone has bad days, but it was still frustrating for her.
Her key card did not work so she had to go back downstairs and have them make another one. At this point I was called because she decided that she would need an additional night. I said it shouldn't be any problem and I would call the hotel to extend the stay by a day since it was under my company credit card.
In the span of over 2hrs I attempted to call the hotel close to 15 times. The phone never rang, and it continued to just do a busy signal. Like it was off the hook. I had my contractor attempt to call down and they weren't picking up calls from the rooms either.
She wouldn't be at the hotel the next day from early in the morning until she returned at night around 10:30pm, so I knew this needed to be taken care of so it wouldn't be an issue for her. SO I decided in the end to go ahead and book another room with her name, but I still wanted to get ahold of them so they could hopefully keep her in the same room (I booked the exact same style). I called in the morning and the phone was still doing the same thing.
SO I ended up calling Holiday Inn reservation # to see if they could note something on their end that the hotel would see and they couldn't do anything. They said my contractor would need to speak to the front desk. I said she'll be out the rest of the day so I'm trying to handle it for her.
They attempted calling the hotel and they couldn't get through either. SO then I was giving the customer service phone number. I called them and they couldn't do anything to help me either. It was incredibly frustrating that NO ONE could get a hold of this hotel.
I ended up digging around and found an email address for the hotel and emailed them about the situation and finally got a reply back about 4hrs later stating that they have my contractor marked for an additional evening and added her name.
So, it worked out, but the hassle was ridiculous. Also, my contractor received a wakeup call the next morning that she never requested. Which ruined the rest of her sleep.
It was just a really poor experience and unfortunate because we have contractors going to that area 2-3 times a year.
I will not send anyone back here and will look for another hotel in the area.

I didn't particular enjoy my stay at this hotel, I found the staff rather stand-offish at times and I wasn't really welcomed into the venue. The atmosphere they gave off was more of I was an inconvenience to their conversation behind the reception area and was desperate to continue that conversation.
They made no effort to explain where anything was, the breakfast, dinner or spa which resulted to me actually finding other places to go for a meal. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, it was two beds connected together that had a ridge that ran through the middle resulting in an awful sleep. That coupled with the TV that wasn't level on the wall which also driving me crazy when watching TV.
The cutlery in the room was dirty, there was a coffee stain on the spoons, the mugs were dirty, kettle had water left in with limescale floating around and the glasses were really dirty and cloudy. I truly expected a lot more from IHG.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, I travelled down on business and I certainly will not be returning.

We stayed for 2 nights in august. Rooms have a fan for air conditioning which isn’t really adequate. Room was clean and location good. Free car park a plus.
Watch the showers they have bursts of scalding water if someone uses sink while you in the shower. Glad we didn’t have our kids as it was very very hot.

Updated hotel but employees need training

Upon arrival, we were put into an occupied room and we walked in on a man sleeping (glad he was dressed). I was told I’d receive a points credit but have not. The breakfast attendant was non-existent. No spoon to scoop out fruit, trash can was over flowing and coffe was empty.

The staff were nice. Unfortunately that’s where it stops.
Heard running thumping noises all night assumed from upstairs. Hard to sleep.
Other than breakfast, food quality and choices were not that great.
Not the greatest in cleanliness.
No parking close by. Had to walk to parking centre down the street in the rain with kids and luggage.
Orders messed up by room service. Ice cream melted.
Food took so long kids fell asleep waiting.

Smell in room

Smell in room that persisted throughout the stay. They gave us air freshner but the room needs a deep cleaning. Staff was made aware but did not resolve. Breakfast was good and plentiful but no pancakes or waffles.
