Great stay / Great hotel

This hotel was outstanding (comfortable / convenient to university and downtown)! The room was large and very nicely designed - impressive. I enjoyed the friendly staff and learned the hotel has 4-5 bars along with a restaurant and also a coffee / bakery area. This is a great place for work unit gatherings and also weekend get away.

Enjoy Our Hotel's Location in Detroit Lakes, MN Our hotel's proximity to the beach of Big Detroit Lake makes it the ultimate destination for Minnesota vacations. Because it is situated just off Hwy 10, the Holiday Inn® Detroit Lakes is convenient for business travelers, as well. If you visit Minnesota for vacations, there is no better place to stay. Go into town to find great deals on shopping or just lie on the private beach and soak up the sun. If you enjoy the outdoors, visit the Tamarac Wildlife Refuge, go to the Mississippi headwaters or hike, bike and snowmobile miles of local trails. Corporate guests will not be disappointed with their stay. We have five meeting rooms to offer with a total capacity of 350 people. You can finish work in our Business Center using free Wi-Fi access. Loud Party Hotel

Staff are great but this hotel invites loud and drunken parties at night. Bar is open to 1:45 am and pontoon boats full of young inebriated people show up past closing time. Music was so loud it was impossible to sleep. Great location right on the beach but don’t expect to sleep if you’re on the lake side of the hotel.

The lady at the front desk was disrespectful and was not any help with anything the pool wasn’t cleaned at all there was bugs in the water there was a gross used bandaid on the floor and the water was very merky our bathroom in the hotel wasn’t very clean the bathroom sink leaked water everywhere and the bathroom door didn’t lock

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT ROOMS WE BOOKED

Every year we visit this hotel and stay for the Route 11 crawl. We booked our rooms 2 months ahead of our stay. When we arrive, the 2 desk staff assigned us 2 rooms which were not what was booked. We booked 2 King suites and were given 1 suite and 1 Regular King room. the staff only said well its all we got, and everything is now booked up because of the event that day. We should have been given the rooms we booked ahead of just walk ins. He just kept saying well we cant do anything now. We went up to the rooms and my friend walked in their room (KING SUITE) and took his shoes off. First thing was room had an awful odor. He walked over to adjust the A/C and floor was soaked through in a large area. He came got me and we went down to the front desk. When we told the girl there that the room smelled and the floors were soaked, her response was " oh yea that's because it's been raining outside". Well that would be why we booked our room inside so that we wouldn't be in the rain. She never offered for anyone to go see what's going on. Put them in a double hearing accessible room and were told that's all we can do. All the rooms we went in had a bad musty smell. I wanted to speak with a manager and there was not one on duty. I went back to my room and called IHG and spoke to someone who took the report and said not much he can do until we speak to the manager and said she would call the next day and he would also follow up after I spoke to her. The manager never called. (as I expected) On Sunday I did get a call from an assistant manager that stated they have had plenty of problems with the 2 on duty that even and offered me points towards another stay. With all we had going on we should have been refunded at least 1 of those rooms. I never did receive a follow up call from the guy at IHG. We have stayed at this hotel and many IHG hotels and we actually had alot of problems with the same hotel at the same event last year. Normally i love visiting and staying with IHG but this is one you should avoid unless they make alot of changes.

Filthy and run down. One staff member was helpful the rest were just going through the day to go home. Horrible hotel and will never stay there again. I have stayed 100’s of nights at holiday inn properties and this is the worst by far. Anyone who stays there deserves a refund.

Absolute Disappointment

We have frequented this Holiday Inn on multiple cross-country drives in the past. This will be our final stay at this Holiday Inn, and more than likely all Holiday Inn's in the future. First, the area around the hotel has become increasingly sketchy with roaming crowds of druggies along the streets and even close to the parking lot entrance. The hotel itself is old, but its in bad need of updating. Our room was in terrible condition. The shower insert was ungluing itself from the wall, and the drain cover was off and nasty. The wall on the shower looked like it was getting wet behind the wall and was pushing out and cracked. There was mold in the shower and in the room under the TV stand. We went downstairs for dinner at the hotel restaurant, and was informed to hurry since the bar was closing (they were supposed to stay open at least another hour according to the IHG site). So we asked if we could still order food and were told the kitchen was closed as the cook did not show up that day. We also asked for a shot of Fireball and were told they did not have that either. Too many No's for us. I don't think they even opened the kitchen for breakfast the next morning. Terrible, just terrible. We will never stay here again.

Hotel clean and tidy although long queue at check in, only one member of staff working and air conditioning in room not operating. Temp was 34 degrees and windows do not open fully so poor nights sleep and stay in room

This place was the worst Staybridge I have stayed in. I submitted a review how bad it was and just got a form letter response. So many things wrong this place it is hard to write them all down. Stay some where else. I changed motel on my first opportunity to a new place about a mile away for the same price and it is SO much better I am sad I didn't book it in the first place.
I will never ever stay there again!!!!!!

Horrible Stay

We’ve stayed here for 10 years but this time was the worst. There were no rooms available at checkin. Finally given a room at 10:30 at night but it was dirty. No manager with a new employee at desk who hung up on me when I called. Prepaid for room but mistakenly an extra $83 charge was on bill. Still waiting for that refund. Probably will not stay there again.
