1st Stay

Two issues was housekeeping not cleaning and or putting in clean towels. And the language barrier with housekeeping staff. Therefore, front desk staff gave clean towels when housekeeping services were not done. Other than that, front desk staff and breakfast staff was very friendly. Second issue, The first night, I wasn’t able to preview the room first to make sure it would accommodate my disability which caused some issues however customer service has said they will rectify the issue since my stay. They are prompt when there is an issue. Which is why I’ve remained a reward member so long and will remain one.

A quiet and welcoming stay in the city centre of Beja.
The Holiday Inn Beja is located in the Alentejo and is less than 10 kilometres from Beja Airport, 170 kilometres from Lisbon Airport and 150 kilometres from Faro Airport. Beja Train Station is just one kilometre away. If you are coming by car from the Lisbon area, take the A2 highway and head south, then take the IP2 to Beja.
The hotel is within walking distance of the city centre attractions. Beja, a historic city in the Baixo Alentejo region, is known for its traditional food, fabulous wine, great climate and genuine, warm people. With the city's rich culture, places not to be missed are Beja Castle, the Rainha D. Leonor Museum, the Roman Arch and much more. As the second largest city in Alentejo, with more than 2,500 years of history and many more stories to live and tell, discover the ancient civilisations that mark our past and fill the old, carefully whitewashed houses with mystery.

Good location, friendly staff

The hotel is in a good location and staff are friendly. The hotel is new but looks has been opened few years already, because the quality of building is not good and lack of maintenance. There’re ceilings leaking when it’s raining. The breakfast is not impressed at all. There’s limited choice in the breakfast and lack of taste. The room is roomy but again lack of maintenance. The housekeeping is not good. The room hasn’t been cleaned up after 6pm many times. The reception staff are nice but lack of professional experience.

Crowded, Loud, No Towels

We stayed during a soccer tournament and expected the foot traffic but being placed on the first floor directly across from the pool, as a rewards member who requests top floor away from elevator was extremely frustrating. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, but the rooms were very loud. The walls and floors/ceilings are THIN. Clean towels were not available, nor did the front host on the night of 4/12 seem to care. He actually seemed to think it was funny that the hotel was completely booked and unable to accommodate common requests such as a fresh towel. Breakfast was on par with normal IHG breakfasts, if you’re into that type of thing. Overall, for $150+/night, this was a terrible experience that I certainly wouldn’t recommend to anyone else. Good reminder to stay away from IHG’s run down hotels with subpar service.

Staff greeted me with a warm and friendly greeting. I appreciated being thanked for being an elite member and being offered a room upgrade. Housekeeping is also very friendly and does a great job keeping the hotel tidy. Despite being conveniently located near the freeway, it is very quiet.

My kids and I went on a family vacation to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. The 3 queen suite was wonderful for us to hang out and visit and play games in the evenings after our hikes. It was a wonderful time.

Comfortable but Ghetto Neighborhood

First uncomfortable feeling was seeing front desk attendant with latex gloves and mask on. Felt like checking in at hospital rather than a reputable hotel chain. Second, the location is horrendous and felt unsafe. Third, $145 deposit and have to wait 5-7 days to be released? That’s ridiculous! Definitely not staying at this Holiday Inn Express again for $175 for a night, not even close to being worth it! Would not recommend!!

Excellent Room - Awful Dining Experience

There’s two extremes to our stay. On one hand we the sincerely loved our room and the value that we got for the place that we paid. It was extremely clean and suited our family very well. All the beds were comfortable. The space was great. From this perspective, we would 100% come back.
On the other hand, we did choose to utilize the on-site restaurant for dinner and then a couple of us for breakfast. There were five in our party and three of us, including kids left with food poisoning. One of the kids actually began getting sick during our stay in the middle of the night. During dinner our dining experience we asked our server a question about a menu item. She answered, and we chose a different menu item as a result only to find out after our food was brought out that her response was wrong. Obviously we don’t necessarily expect people to know every answer on the spot but if for any reason, she wasn’t unsure, she should have checked with the kitchen before hand.
