I will write a review on this hotel every chance I get. Let me preface my review by saying that I spend, on average 250 days a year at IHG hotels. I have been a guest at this location twice before. While the accommodations were not luxe, in the past, they were a fair value for the dollar. New management was in place for this visit and the kindest thing I could say about the hotel is that it seems to have become a rent by the hour hotel. Plastic under the sheets and the removal of the lounge chair prompted me to call the mgr., he indicated that the plastic was for bedwetters, not bedbugs. The stove top did not work and was filthy and disgusting. Generally the place was a mess. Avoid at all costs. The manager had been there for a month and went on vacation on my second day, for a week lol, the front desk person could not effectively communicate in English, so I had to speak with a housekeeper to resolve my issues. He was due back on a Saturday, then Sunday and then Monday. I had to eventually call iHG. I moved to a less expensive hotel nearby and it was like night and day.

This is not the best experience from start to finish. My son is in a travel sport and I have been loyal to the Holiday Inn Express brand for the past 10 years. Having said that, I can only remember one other time that I was disappointed in a stay at a HIX and I was not THIS disappointed. It began at check in. The elevator was out so I had to carry my luggage up the stairs. I have a disability so this was more difficult for me than it would have been for others, I am sure. Thankfully, I was placed on the 2nd floor. I asked for a discount and was told I would received on at check in. I also asked to leave a key for my son and his girlfriend and I left their names. They were hanging out with his cousin who is a student at nearby Butler University for a little bit. I went to the room and attempted to complete some work, but as I was working, I noticed a wad of hair stuck to the wall next to the desk (see picture). This matched the hairs that remained behind in the bathtub/shower. I found it difficult to concentrate. I tried to go to bed but the noise from the freeway was intense. I do not typically have trouble with this, but it was really loud. I use a headband with earphones in them and could hear the noise over the headphones.
Meanwhile, my son and his girlfriend attempted to retrieve the keys from the front desk and he was harassed by the receptionist and she refused to allow him to retrieve the keys even though he gave her his name. She demanded his ID. He did not have it on him. He left it in my car. She did not tell me he would need to it to retrieve his key or I would have told him and/or his girlfriend. Thankfully, I left his girlfriend's name and she had her ID, but the receptionist continued to be rude and disrespectful to my son. He is not one that I have ever gotten complaints about his behavior, so I never worry about his interacting with anyone. The interaction was so bad that he was upset about it for days.
Upon checkout, I saw that I was not given the discount I was promised and had to asked the morning receptionist for one again. Thankfully, she provided one, but the elevators were still not working. The morning receptionist also apologized for the nighttime receptionist and offered a possible reasoning for her behavior towards my son, but that only served to sound like an excuse. In all, I am grateful that it was a one-night stay and while we will be driving through and staying to see my nephew often over the next 4 years, I will never stay in this facility again.

Currently, there are many things about this Holiday Inn that brings unpleasant experiences to frequent guests on businesses trip since I’ve been staying here monthly bases from the year of 2014.
Here are few things as an example,
First, This Holiday Inn is so outdated with maintenance and I wonder , how it gets passed with health and safety inspections by the Singaporean government.
Second, this Holiday Inn has been poorly managed since COVID which marketing to target some group of guests; absolutely unpleasant to stay for business travelers, and getting out of control. For Example, the Club Lounge became a big family gathering place with minors where there’s no control what so ever where alcohol is served during evening hours. I’ve never seen anything like this anywhere in IHG Hotels un all over the world.

For a new facility this place was filthy. The shower doors would not stay shut so water sprayed out on the floor. When I wiped up the water the towel was brown. The wall next to the bed was also filthy, it looked like someone was kicking the wall with their dirty shoes.

This Diamond Elite member will never set foot in this hotel again because of this, and IHG in general is treading on thin ice with me for even allowing this in the first place. I want to be able to trust a hotel that I stay at, if they start throwing in hidden fees like this, I can't trust them. I suggest you go elsewhere too....
