Excellent choice for travelers going to visit the Grand Canyon. Very convenient location, and beautiful accommodations. Nice for couples and families. Options for upscale dinner or casual dining, breakfast buffet was very good, and there are fun things to do for all (arcade, s’mores, etc.). Highly recommend!

The Holiday Inn Northwest University Heights hotel offers spacious guest rooms and full suites, microwave and refrigerators in each guest room. Our famous hot breakfast buffet is a favorite, with the sparkling indoor pool, free internet, fitness and business center. With easy access to San Antonio International Airport, Military friendly, we are easy access to JBSA – Camp Bullis and Fort Sam Houston for our military groups and training programs. Our groups love to mingle and have "Ice Breaker" receptions at our Lobby Bar before going out to dinner at great local restaurants.

I like to stay at Holiday Inns because they’re USUALLY consistent. I can expect the same level of cleanliness and service at most of them. This one is an outlier. My room (417) was not up to standard. The reading light was ripped off over the bed with exposed wiring - fire hazard. There was complete filth behind the mattress. The bathroom tub didn’t drain and you ended up standing in your own dirty bath water over your ankles. There were multiple “out of order” machines on the property. The call button for the elevator was broken and you could see exposed wiring in the receptacle box. The towel rack was being held on by a wad of toilet paper, yes you read that correctly, a wad of toilet paper. The breakfast was $12.95 - it’s the free “continental” breakfast that all the other Holiday Inns offer for no charge. The staff was “meh”. I’m not a complainer, but this visit left A LOT to be desired.

The wifi in my room was so slow I couldn’t get any work done. The speed test in my room showed .13 mbps, I went to the lobby and tested it at 3.5 mbps. I asked the HI manager if they could fix it and she said she couldn’t do anything about it. I travel weekly for business and only stay at IHG hotels but I won’t be staying at this one again.

Overnight stay April 23, in room 205

I am writing to express my significant dissatisfaction with my recent stay on the night of April 22-23, specifically concerning an issue encountered this morning. Upon attempting to shower, I discovered that the water in the bath was non-functional. As I have important meetings scheduled today, the inability to refresh myself properly was highly inconvenient and unacceptable.
Furthermore, upon checking out at the service desk, I was informed by the clerk that this was a "known problem" with a specific procedure to activate the water. This revelation was particularly frustrating. Knowing that alternative, fully operational rooms were presumably available within the facility, I am perplexed as to why I was assigned a room with a known defect. It is unclear why this room was not proactively taken out of service, except perhaps for emergency situations. Moreover, the failure to inform me of this "trick" upon check-in is a significant oversight.
While I have a preference for IHG properties and have chosen to stay at this location, I would like to emphasize that there are at least five alternative hotels within close proximity. I trust that you and your staff will take appropriate action to address these issues and ensure a higher standard of guest experience in the future.

Staff was great but room was lacking. Noise level was high from room. No blackout curtains, so I was up with the sun. Room was very dated. There were several light bulbs out. Location also wasn’t great - but that’s my fault for not researching more. We changed hotels after the first night.

Recommend asking for top floor, or you could experience noise issues from the room above. Breakfast had lots of options, but it was average. The location was handy and it’s a really nice place over all!

Housekeeping and breakfast need updating

First room we were assigned was not cleaned. It looked like someone was in the bed, The second room bathroom was not clean. Walls had material spattered on them and corners of the floor were dirty. Shower looked like a spray had been applied and not scrubbed.
The breakfast baked goods were not fresh and a bagel was hard as a rock.
We went on to Elizabethtown Hoiiday Inn Express. The room was pristine. Breakfast baked good items were individually wrapped and fresh.

It’s cheap but

I only stayed here because it was so much cheaper than the Katy location which I have been staying at, I won’t make that mistake again. This place is very run down in a low end part of Houston.
