This property recently became a Crowne and it shows. Room was clean but small, furniture was old and distressed. Sinks in both of our rooms didn't drain. Beds were lousy. Bedding was cheap. One fridge was seriously uneven and difficult to even open the door. The worst part was the front desk unable to get our rooms next door to each other. I did not think this was a huge ask. Never has been at any other property. One elevator went out on our day of departure so we had to walk up and down 6 flights of stairs several times since the wait for 1 elevator took forever. Ate at the restaurant and our server had 2 days experience. Food was fine, but very pricey. Pool area was nice. Dogs are allowed which did nothing for adding to our enjoyment of this hotel. One dog peed in the lobby and several others barked consistently on our floor. Overall, not very happy with the stay. We seriously considered moving to the Holiday Inn down the road but decided to stay since we did not want to repack everything for two rooms. Spent a lot of points for a rather forgettable time. To market this as a Crowne at the present time is misleading. The property does not meet expectations for that brand.

I highly recommend this hotel! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and not run down. The shuttle was a plus! They take you right downtown. The room was clean and I felt the bed was comfortable.

A visit to the famous Jorvik Viking Centre is a must, a popular attraction for adults and kids alike, or take a walk down The Shambles , voted Britain’s Most Picturesque Street. We are also just minutes away from the famous Betty's Tea Room, pop in for an afternoon tea or just grab one of their famous Fat Rascals
. Our hotel has 100 modern bedrooms with free Wi-Fi , comfy beds and walk-in showers. We also offer 3 meeting rooms with free Wi-Fi, accommodating up to 60 guests, and can tailor the layout to best suit your needs.

Smallest double bed ever seen!

We booked a standard double with sofa bed as was concerned the bed looked very narrow.
On arrival the bed was about 6 inches wider than a single and the sofa bed not made up.
Staff refused to make up the sofa bed as only do for a child which is not mentioned anywhere during the booking process.
Had to stay elsewhere and they are refusing a refund.
The staff were particularly unhelpful and had little interest in resolving the issue which could have been simple addition of a mattress or make an exception to the child policy which I still haven't seen evidence of.
The room itself, from what we could see in the 10 seconds we were there, was slightly shabby with a smell of unwashed previous guest.
For one of the most expensive hotels in this range I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Nice looking room

Nice room, up to date amenities, unfortunately kitchen cook top was broken, so we were unable to prepare the meal we specifically purchased for our anniversary, loud parkinglot/street. I suggest getting room in the back of hotel. No late check out.

Great Staff - Poor Housekeeping

This would be a good hotel for a short term stay. Not recommended for anything longer than a few days. There is no variety at breakfast and housekeeping is very poor. Front desk staff is friendly and very professional. Traffic pattern around hotel is very strange and inconvenient. Several restaurants within walking distance to hotel.

The summer time is a great time to come to South Lake Tahoe. Our location is convenient to be able to walk to the beach and for sightseeing, restaurants, shopping and gambling. We offer a free hot breakfast bar, available every morning starting at 6:30am. Take that into consideration when planning a trip into our town. For a great experience, make reservations today at our South Lake Tahoe hotel!
Lake Tahoe has always been a gathering place for people seeking peace, adventure and rejuvenation, the Holiday Inn Express, South Lake Tahoe is the perfect starting point to explore this idyllic location. During the Summer months, there is a wide variety of things to come see and do. The Lake is a great place to relax and spend quality time with friends and family or just the two of you. Heavenly Village: with the Gondola to take you to the top of the mountain reaching 10,000 plus feet to enjoy the sights of Lake Tahoe, take the zip lines or Gravity coaster. You could always just take a hike on all the trails available.
You can head to Stateline, the home of Nevada casinos like Harrah's, Harvey's and Bally's, and Hard Rock Casino, which is just half a mile from our South Lake Tahoe hotel. Lack of customer service

We checked pretty late and we were hoping to work here the next day while kids were at ski school. The property had electric maintenance planned and there was power outage early morning for more than an hour. The front desk very casually asked us to go work at Starbucks which was super noisy! She was like there is nothing we can do! One of the most horrible customer service received at holiday inn! We were left using the stairs and packing up and leaving just 6 hours after check in!

Outdated and rundown

Stayed for a week to do some house hunting with my mom. Because we were staying for a long period we wanted to get a reasonably priced room. Staybridge looks nice and clean on the outside but the moment you walk in you can see its rundown and pictures online make it look better. Because this place was cheaper than most I did not have high standards and hope and definitely had the “you get what you pay for mindset” This being said I was not expecting a luxury hotel or stay. I’d expect some wear and tear but not to the extent we saw here! Firstly we had to switch our rooms twice upon checking in. The first room didn’t have a working thermostat, the second room had rips in the floor and couch and lots of wear and tear throughout the room as well as a flickering light. The third room was the least run down so we ended up staying in this one. The next day we get up to shower and there was a HUGE ROACH in the shower. Following that, every night during our stay roaches of all sizes came out at night in the bathroom and kitchen to have a party! Again being that the hotel was cheaper we expected wear and tear but not as bad and we definitely did not expect to live with roaches the entire week. We were scared to even open our suitcases or place them on any furniture in fear of bringing the roaches back to our home. I will not be staying here again and definitely will not recommend to anyone else.
PS: The area the hotel is in is horrible! You’d think areas outside of airports would be fairly nice. This is not the case. Everything in the surrounding area were run down buildings and restaurants. Did not feel safe.
