Comfortable bed and good service

I stayed here for proximity to the airport on a business trip. The check in process was easy and staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfy and I enjoyed having HBO included in the room. The hotel is pretty and I enjoyed a delicious salmon dinner in the restaurant.

No había Alberca

Hice una reservación y jamás me avisaron que la alberca no estaba en funcionamiento, entonces obviamente eso no está bien, porque uno va a eso a nadar y a disfrutar y obviamente eso no pasó, ojalá pudieran compensarme con puntos o algo, ya que aparte de todo la tarifa estuvo súper alta.

Terrible customer service

I attended Zenkaikon and decided to stay here rather than the Marriot because of the free wifi and better parking prices. I originally booked Thursday-Sunday, but a couple of weeks before decided I didn’t want to leave during the usual con rush. I tried to extend my reservation to Monday via online and kept getting errors. I called, and reservations set up the extension, even price matched the con rate, and said I’d get a confirmation email. Which I did, so I thought I was all set.
Cue the Thursday of arrival; husband and I checked in with no problem. Over the weekend, accidentally deactivated a card and a host fixed it. Appreciated the extra towels and blankets requested, although one day no beds were made and another day only one bed was made, which was strange. I also think we’re way beyond the point of microwaves being standard in rooms. And didn’t think the fridge was cold enough. But those are little nitpicks that now bug me more after what happened next.
Sunday afternoon, we step out and come back around 3. Neither key is working. Figured we managed to deactivate them again and go to the front desk and tell them we’re room 715. Host looks me up and is making a weird face, then asks my name. Then he says “did you know you’re in room 904?” Of course we didn’t. Then he proceeds to explain that I was down for two back to back reservations and I’m supposed to move rooms today. I told him I wasn’t aware and that I had called in to extend my stay weeks earlier. He proceeds to blame me and tell me how I should have told them when I checked in so they could have prevented a room switch. And then how I was supposed to check in today (why would I do any of that if I didn’t know there was a problem?). Then asks “did you leave anything in the room?” Of course we did! Everything, because we didn’t know we were supposed to switch rooms! I’m keeping calm, mostly because I’m speechless that I’m being blamed for something I didn’t know and didn’t have control over - I didn’t put the extension in their system, reservations did, and didn’t tell me that any further action was needed. He tells me he’ll have to get the managers permission to let me in the room to get our stuff. He also says they’ll have to talk to housekeeping to see if we can stay in the current room rather than move. So, the manager has to LET me get my things for a mistake that I didn’t make and housekeeping suddenly decides what room I stay in?? In the process of this conversation, about 10min or so have gone by and he’s made multiple trips to the back and the manager did not come out to help. Maybe I should have demanded he did, but I know con weekends are rough for staff and I was trying to be reasonable. At this point, none of this seems worth it. We’re being told we’re beholden to multiple staff members to stay in our room just for one night. No one is trying to be helpful or reassuring. This host clearly does not want to deal with us. I ask what it would cost if we packed up our things and left now. Host goes to the manager and comes back out. He says “just the cancellation fee”. I should have asked him to confirm what that meant, but I assumed that meant less than a full night’s rate, and at that point I was miserable and just wanted to leave. So, I tell him we’ll do that. He leaves again for the manager’s permission, comes back, and activates one key for us. We go to our room and pack as fast as we could. The rooms aren’t spacious, so to keep our suitcases out of the way, we had fully unpacked into the drawers, closet, and bathroom. We had to pack everything! Just after 4pm, we go downstairs with our cart loaded up and go to the desk. The same host asks “how can I help you” as if we were fresh customers who didn’t just spend 15-20min in front of him being brushed off and blamed for everything. I confirm we’re leaving and hand him the key. He says I’ll get an email bill for the first reservation and a cancellation for the second. We thank him and leave.
I’ve never gotten any cancellation email, nor does anything say cancelled on my account. I’ve since checked my credit card and found out I received two charges: a full night and the full parking rate ($30 instead of $15). I had to dig up the cancellation policy myself to find that it’s a full night stay. So, thanks to the host for misleading us. Maybe I would have stayed if I’d known I’d pay $215 just to drive home. Also, my car didn’t stay in the lot that night, obviously, so it doesn’t matter if I was charged $15 or $30, it was insane to find that charge on my card at all.
Really disappointed with how staff handled the issue. And far from pleased that I was charged a full night and the full parking rate when I felt pressured to cut my stay early. Next year, I’ll just stay at the Marriot.

Room needs TLC

The room, while comfortable, needed maintenance. There was a very large floor tile loose in front of the sink in the bathroom which wobbled whenever we stood on it. Probably because the shower had a considerable leak which pooled on the floor. The curtains had multiple thin spots where the backing material had worn away, which let in a lot of light (as the area outside was well lit all night). Doors banged throughout the night, even with an ear plug you could feel the vibration through the room. Overall the room felt clean but there was a suspicious looking brown mark on the bathroom wall. It just felt a bit shabby and neglected unfortunately.

Impersonal and well below standard quality

Check-in was impersonal, this facility is by far one of the lowest quality holiday inns we have stayed in..
The overpowering smell of air fresheners throughout was a negative.
After check-in, we received a knock on our door from another guest trying to check into our room. They showed us their room card and it had the same number as our room so the front desk must’ve tried to check them into our room 30 minutes after we checked in.
a little unsettling that other people were given keys to our room what would’ve happened to our things if we were not in our room at the time they tried to check in they would’ve had full access to our things. 3 feet in the door to our room, the carpet under pad must be folded under the carpet because of the irregular lump in the floor. A handle to the bathtub spigot comes right off. It is missing the Allen key that holds it onto the valve. The surrounding area does not give anyone a feeling of safety or comfort. We went for a 20 minute walk around the area and we were highly aware of our surroundings at all times.. the pool was closed for renovations. Our room was directly above the pool and we have a clear view of how unkept and dirty it was. Renovations on the pool had not started so the dirt was just an accumulation of what we are assuming is how they keep the entire facility..

Good breakfast, comfortable bed, noisy room

Our refrigerator did not work and they said they would fix it, but they never did. There appeared to be mold in the bathroom. Our room was also very noisy. You could hear the neighbors next-door and the people above us. The upstairs people kept us up because they were running around. We called the front desk a couple times to have them stop. But unfortunately, they would start up again 10 minutes later..
The breakfast choices are very good and the room itself has everything you need (unless your fridge doesn’t work). The beds are very comfortable as are the pillows.
The staff was very friendly, but unfortunately, we had issues staying there. We had to use three separate reservations to pay for the room because we used points, cash, and a free night. That part was no big deal. However they assured us that there would be no issue with us staying in the same room every night. However, on the second day, we had somebody knocking on our door 3 times even with our do not disturb sign. We told them that we were trying to sleep. Next thing we know they had somebody pounding on the door. It was the maintenance person who was ready was going to pry open the door. They said it was because they didn’t think somebody was supposed to be staying in this room.
I would still recommend this hotel to stay at, as it’s close to the beach and the casino. We just had numerous issues during our stay.

ABUSED AND DISAPPOINTED

In the last 6 years, I have stayed 40+ nights in this hotel; this is the last time I will ever set foot in it! Upon 3:30PM check in, the front desk person was VERY unhelpful, unprofessional, non-caring about my advance reservation top floor room request; absolutely NO customer service. Next morning's conversation with the General Mgr was condescending and non-productive; my wife and I certainly did not feel any more appreciated after. After my Saturday morning run, 10AM shower was NO HOT WATER ! 9PM Saturday night. STILL NO HOT WATER. Front desk person said, hot water tank was out and their maintenence person repaired Saturday afternoon and it should be providing hot water at 11PM ! 9AM Sunday morning AFTER 24 HOURS OF ONLY COLD WATER, we expressed to front desk our disappointment ; were told this would be relayed to General Mgr when he returns next day/Monday ! ALSO on Sunday, we spoke to two VERY ANGRY couples that actually checked in the previous afternnon /Saturday and WERE NOT IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THERE WAS NO HOT WATER ! ADDITIONALLY, DAY 1, 2 & 3 we informed front desk that nearby room 210 occupants were disgustingly depositing garbage and uneaten food IN THE HALL OUTSIDE THEIR ROOM! Day 1, we asked that if they were remaining in that room, management should require them to stop their repulsive behavior. Day 2 same continued and we AGAIN asked front desk that management should require them to stop their repulsive behavior. Day 3 same continued and we AGAIN asked SAME front desk personnel that management should require them to stop their repulsive behavior. WHAT A SAD JOKE OF A HOTEL THIS IS; PITIFUL !

A little disappointed

I have always stayed at Holiday Inn because you can count on a clean, comfortable and spacious stay.. We got the clean and comfortable and spacious room. However, I am severely handicapped and walk by assistance of a rollator. The bathroom is so small. I have never encountered one so small. A normal person can't even close the door without standing aside by the sink. I was unable to get my rolliator in , leaving it at the door which made it difficult and unsafe for me to make it into the bathroom. We needed a room with queen beds because my friend and I went to see the Reba concert and they offered us a king with an accessible bathroom. That wasn't going to do it as we both needed a bed. My suggestion would be to turn some of the rooms that are back to back into a bigger room for people that are severely disabled, if you cannot provide a bathroom that even normal people can't turn around in. I was unable to shower because I could not get my legs up over the tub to get in, I had to sit on the toilet and put my feet by the top of the tub to wash them before going to bed.
The bathroom door was in desperate need of some WD 40, sounded like Halloween sound effects.The toilet leaked in the back. Bathrooms definitely need updating, but were clean. Breakfast is pretty much normally included with any of our stays and since the rate doubled because Reba was in town the least they could do is let members, especially a member since 2005, enjoy breakfast on them. Since breakfast was not included, we found someplace else with a better menu selection. There are no gluten free options in the restaurant, which is surprising because there are so many people with gluten allergies. I would probably not stay here again until some updates were made. The staff was very friendly though.

Good staff experience but room was dirty

The staff and customer service was great. At many times the lobby and front desk and other common areas were being cleaned and well kept. Breakfast was kept clean and full. However, some of that attentiveness should have been given to the guest rooms. Our room was pretty dirty and it made us feel uncomfortable to walk around in there barefoot. There were sticky food/messy spots on the remote, desk and bedside table areas, as if the area was only wiped or dusted with a dry rag and not actually cleaned. The carpeting and the couch also had a lot of stains. The window treatments were stained and there were stains all over the walls and carpeting too.
Overall, we would not stay here again if the rooms were this unclean. Unfortunately we didn't have many options for rooms since we were sleeping 6 and needed two bed and the sofa sleeper.
If the rooms were cleaner, we would consider it since the location and the staff were good.
