AC was broken

This hotel appears very nice from the outside as well as the lobby. The lady working the front desk was nice -but it seemed she did not have any staff available to assist her with anything as she was doing everything by herself.
We went up to our room after check in and it was 77 degrees in the room. The AC was barely blowing any air and the thermostat was set to 70 when we walked in. To us, it was clear that the unit is not working properly and needs repair. We promptly went back downstairs to ask if there was maintenance to fix the issue/another room available (and of course there wasn't). The front desk lady informed us that the AC's are now motion censored and turn on when it detects people in the room which we thought was strange. The woman at the front desk then told us that we can get a refund if we are not happy because they have no other rooms or we can stay in the room the way it was. We asked for a full refund *that I am still waiting on currently.*
At the same time, there were two other guests sitting in the lobby because they also said that their room was extremely hot. They appeared to be extremely dissatisfied with their stay.
Overall, I was definitely disappointed and will be contacting customer service if I do not receive my refund today (Monday)-as I was told it had to go through an audit process on Monday before the money is refunded.

Would not recommend

The staff was very friendly but there was no hot water, took forever to get things in the room replaced that we wanted and called down for, the partying at all hours of the night by other guests wasn’t handled, the constant water on the floor from the rain is understandable but never cleaned up so you’re slipping everywhere. We told there’d be coffee available all the time but never was. Rarely people at the front desk to answer questions. The tv in the room was constantly losing signal. Our sink wouldn’t drain. Wouldn’t go back that’s for sure. Pretty disappointed especially with the amount of money we spent on this hotel for 4 nights stay.

No pool, no notice before booking!

I use my points as a Gold Elite member for a week get a way at an IHG resort (Holiday Inn Resort South Padre Island ). I live in just outside of Dallas in my home that has a pool. I chose this hotel because of the heated pool with the bar in it. It’s an 8 hour and 37-minute trip and $29.02 worth of tolls to get there. We checked in and looked around the resort and checked out the pool with the bar. So decided to check out the strip and we would come back and relax in the pool. When we got back the pool was being drained and signs were just posted that that pool was being repaired. We were very disappointed since (we have a cold pool at home) came for this amenity, the heated pool and bar. There 2 other pools, but none are heated and it was cold, I also have a cold pool at home, LOL. I went and spoke to the guest services about this. I asked if this was scheduled, and he said yes. I asked why they didn’t put this on the IHG app. He responded that “We put it up on our Facebook Page”. You don’t book rooms using Facebook! We would have never come had we known this. I asked when the manager would be in and he gave me the information and he was polite. Now faced with another 8-hour trip back we tried to make the best of it and took in a few sites for the next 2 days. I spoke with I believe the Asst Manager and explained the disappointment and how we made the trip for nothing. He was professional and polite and said he would get back with us. Not even 15 minutes later a Young Lady called us ( I lost the paper with her name and title). I explained the situation and told her we would be leaving early, and she was empathic and would see what she could do. We left 2 days early and we should have gotten our points back for the days we didn't stay . We did not. I called IHG and the Hotel again and they still have not corrected it. Everyone was professional, polite and empathetic and that has been greatly appreciated. I just asking for my points to be corrected. We plan to book the same trip at the end of summer or the same time next year. As long as the pool is back open and the crowds are down but can still enjoy the outside.

Amazing staff, terrible state of the room.

The staff at the hotel was excellent; however, the condition of the room left much to be desired. The room was in a terrible state, and by the time I realized this, it was too late to request a change. The bed frame appeared to be broken, and the mattress was sagging. Additionally, when I tried to shower, cold water leaked from the light fixture in the tub. I also noticed black mold in the bathroom. While the staff was commendable, the overall state of the room was disappointing.
