Gap in door big enough to see into our room

My daughter was the first person to point out the large gap in the door letting a stream of light into our room. I went outside to see if you could see in our room through it and sure enough you could clearly see into our room. Not only was that alarming but it could have been very easy to put something in the crack and unlock the door. I was traveling alone with my young daughter. Our safety and privacy were both compromised. We were not moved the first night and it was not fixed like we were told. I came back saturday and had to re-request everything. The request was never submitted by the night staff. We were eventually moved but we were also told we would be getting "reward points" for our trouble and that didnt even happen.

Would never stay here again!

I’m very disappointed with my recent stay — unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The issues began at check-in. The website listed check-in at 3 PM, and I was also told I could check in early at 1 PM. However, upon arrival, we were informed that check-in wouldn’t be available until 4 PM.
To pass the time, I asked if we could use the pool, which had been advertised as an amenity when I booked. I was then told the pool was under construction and unavailable — this was never mentioned beforehand.
Once we were finally able to check in, the room itself was very underwhelming and didn’t meet expectations. To make matters worse, we were double charged for parking, which I now have to dispute with my credit card company.
The overall experience felt disorganized and unprofessional, and unfortunately, the staff did not do much to help resolve the issues. I would not stay here again.

Bad customer service

The front desk staff are very rude. I went to the front desk to complain and the person told me I was wasting his time And worse, I tried to escalate the issue and they won’t listen.

Unpleasantly Surprised

This property’s condition, location, and security severely damage the Crown Plaza brand. Despite the name, it isn’t even in Worthington; it’s in NE Columbus. The room was so heavily discounted I only earned 130 Reward points for a one night stay. There appeared to be drug activity in the halls and within rooms with shady individuals coming and going all night. IHG would be well served to remove this dump from the portfolio of Columbus properties.

Poor customer service — indifferent management

We often travel to Toledo, Ohio, to visit family and usually stay between 5 to 7 nights. During our last two trips we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Secor Road. I know we are considered long-term guests but this hotel does not make up the rooms until after check out. We had a particularly bad experience during our last stay. When we pulled the covers back on the bed, we were shocked to find a fecal stain on the sheet towards the foot of the bed (It looked like a someone changed a baby’s diaper). We took photos of the stain. It was our first night and very late and we knew housekeeping was gone for the day, so we laid a towel over it and went to bed.
The next morning, we asked the front desk to please change our sheets. We didn’t say why because there were others guests at the reception desk. When we came back to the room later that night, the bed was still unmade. We put a towel over the spot again and went to bed.
On the third morning, I again asked to please have our sheets cleaned. This time I explained why we wanted our sheets cleaned. When we arrived back to the room in the evening the sheets were still not changed.
On the fourth morning, I spoke to the General Manager and told her our sheets and room were not made up during the first three days of our stay. She said housekeeping did not make rooms up for long-term guests, only when they leave. I told her why I wanted the sheets changed and she acted disgusted that we slept on them for three nights. I told her we had no choice because the staff would not change our sheets. She then got defensive and said the housekeeper had gone to our room earlier that day but she didn’t change the sheets because stuff was all over the bed. I told her that was completely false and a very poor excuse for not changing sheets. She then added that the Holiday Inn Express is not meant for long term stays, only for a night or two.
We are currently back in Toledo and staying at a property next door to the Holiday Inn Express. Definitely not our first choice but they do accommodate long-term guests.

There are roaches

Within 5 minutes of entering the room we saw a roach on the bathroom wall near the ceiling. We were on our way to a funeral so i just snapped a picture and asked the lady at the front desk to take care of it. The lady at the front desk was SUPER nice but she didnt seem surprised - just asked me for my room number. When I came back after the services the bug was gone. However it made me more aware that the room wasnt actually “clean”. There was dirt/hair in the corner of the bathroom, the shower floor didnt look clean.. and overall i just felt “crawly” from seeing the bug. I didn’t have the money to get another room and wait for a possible refund so we just tried to make the best of it. There was no bedding for the pullout sofa and when we asked, we were given a bag that had torn a torn blanket. The pull out was not sturdy. Definitely a long night.

Hotel not up to Holiday Inn Express Standards

Hate to sound like a whiner. I travel quite often for work and I like to stay at holiday Inn Express because I know what to expect. Service is always good (no exception here),
Rooms and bathrooms are nice and clean, there are always ports or chargers for laptops/cell phones chargers etc.

All of this said, this Holiday Inn needs an update. I was called two days prior to my stay to tell me that the pool and gym would be closed during my stay.. no issue with that, things happen. My issue was that I was roomed directly behind the elevator, I could hear the elevator running up and down behind my head every time it moved between floors. Sounded like a snow plow clearing snow outside.. not sure what can be done about that. Maybe a warning to guests. I never complained and I’m not complaining here, just offering some sound feedback.
Next, the desk in the room is set up so that when you’re sitting in the desk chair to work, it’s directly beside the heating/ac unit.. while I was working the air was blowing on me, and I don’t mean gently, I mean blowing in my face (not gale force but enough to be annoying).
The room needs an update badly.. if the hotel can’t afford to update the wallpaper/lighting/flooring, maybe update the lamps to include bases that have usb ports or usb C chargers etc.. again just a suggestion. There are new properties in Strathroy and Lakeshore.. even Riverside in Windsor is an older building that has been updated with these little things that add to comfort.

Dirty and noisy

I usually have great IHG experiences, however this hotel was extremely noisy and the doors and wall very thin. We would be woken up anytime a door was opened or closed. There were ants all over the room and what appeared to be dried blood on the wall.
