Ac broken, room wouldn't lock, no toilet paper

Upon arrival our ac in room was broken. Was 89 degrees. Matt fixed it in a timely manner. Our door wouldn't latch properly to lock. It took 2 days of reporting it to get it fixed leaving our things unsecured. On our 4th day the hotel ran out of toilet paper. The reason given by front desk was that there was a marathon in the city that day. When explaining that it was a basic need we were basically brushed off stating that they hope a delivery come in later in the day. The room was run down and not very clean. During our stay only beds were made and fresh towels given daily. No cleaning or collection of garbage was done daily. With the hotels GREAT location it has potential to be fantastic but work needs to be done.

Visit the beautiful mountains of Eastern Kentucky at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Hazard, Kentucky. We are conveniently located off Highway 80 at 192 Corporate Drive, Hazard, Kentucky. With warm, welcoming hospitality and service we are second to none. We are located within walking distance to dining and shopping. Also, located just minutes from our hotel is Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, which offers beautiful scenic views of the mountains, as well as, boating and fishing for the avid outdoorsman. In nearby Hindman, Kentucky the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi, can be viewed from the mountain vistas. Never Again though Staff tried- Place is Falling Apart!

I travel all over the country for work and don't usually write reviews unless a Hotel is Exceptionally good or in this case Exceptionally bad/problematic. During my stay which was about two weeks, I had to be moved two times because of plumbing issues (leaky ceilings) and there were always TV issues -remotes not matching TVs might work one day then come back and they would have to be programmed again. A damp Wet/Mold smell was prevalent and one of my rooms on the first floor had brown larger bug that I was told was a water type bug liking the moisture from the pool nearby. The wall paper and moldings are in disrepair, I misjudged my check out date by one. Don't know why they could not reach me but instead they packed most all of my personal belongings and put them in a storage room. How's that for Guest Service. At least I credit Bianca for Finding me a room. I'm told the remodeling keeps getting pushed out, I would not stay there unless you are totally stuck. They have a decent breakfast. Thats about it. Went to use Treadmill ALSO DID NOT WORK!

This hotel is near the bottom of the barrel by IHG/Holiday Inn standards. Read the reviews both here and on Google Maps before booking. If you're a college parent in town for an event, with no other options in hotels, fine. But be prepared to be drastically underwhelmed.

Racially Profiled and Overcharged

I flew in to this area for the first time to attend a wedding. The hotel seemed great until it wasn’t. I checked in around 2:30 pm on 4/11/2024 and checked out around 11:13 on 4/12/2024. Upon arriving I had about an hour to shower, do my hair and make up and get dressed to head to the wedding by 3:30. I left for the wedding at approximately 3:32 and returned to the hotel around 8:30 pm. I ordered some pizza and some candy and a blanket from Walgreens via DoorDash had it delivered at approximately 9:55 pm. Went to sleep waiting on my order, woke up to retrieve it and went back to sleep. The next morning, I checked out received a message stating thank you for your stay and asking how everything was to which I replied “good”. Now, 3 days later I see a 250.00 smoking deposit on my bill. I have never smoked a day in my life and if I did it sure wouldn’t be in a hotel room hundreds of thousands of miles away from my home in an unfamiliar city. I called the hotel to request an explanation and spoke to a manager named Perry who stated “housekeeping found evidence of smoking in the room” now I’ve been around long enough to know that people leave things behind and housekeeping never does a thorough job of cleaning these rooms. I also know that I’ve never smelled or seen anyone smoking near my room in the few moments that I was in passing. I advised the manager Perry of this and he states there’s nothing he can do about it. This is beyond acceptable to me, a paying patron of this hotel chain. How can one state that they found trash and then pin said trash on a random person with no substantiating evidence. To be racially profiled in this way is disgusting and I will do everything in my power to make sure as many people are aware of what is happening at this hotel as possible. I have made contact with my bank to dispute the charge, but will be taking this one step further. Please do not allow these people to racially profile you and overcharge you without speaking up if you in fact know of your innocence. My voice will be heard.

Nothing good to say about this experience. Staff was far less than helpful and not knowledgeable. Made no attempt to improve our stay. Rooms had no light bulbs and the shower head was broken. No batteries in the tv remote.

There are many better places to stay in the area where you will not be threatened with trespassing if you are near the many weddings they will have during your stay. I would suggest if you are going to threaten hotel guests you should at least have signs up.

Beware of extra credit card charges. I have been trying to resolve charges for 3 weeks after my stay. The manager refuses to speak to me, doesn’t answer messages or emails. He claims I didn’t cancel a reservation by the deadline and I clearly have email date and time of my confirmation that was made before cutoff. Also I have an extra charge for over $200 with no explanation as to what it is.

Needs major updating.

Hotel needs major renovation. Fitness room equipment old and dirty. 1 treadmill worked out of three. Stepper did not work. Missing free weights. No remote to change TV. My room key did not work 2 different times. Had to get new keys. Cable unplugged from TV first night but they fixed it second night. Thermostat is old with no AC or Heat button. I was told to just put it at 50 to get AC. Sink faucet disconnected from counter and had to be fixed 2nd night. Lamp by window worked first night but not the next two nights. Fridge was tiny with no AC or place to put frozen items. Soap dispenser empty by the sink and only tiny bars of soap available. I had to flag down maid to get more bars since they do not refill dispensers I was told. Restaurant not open on Thursday or Friday morning. Bar opened Friday night but was old and dirty. There was some limited free parking but no dedicated parking lot. We came in for hockey championship and it seemed like this hotel was not prepared. To top it off I did not even get a detailed bill only a total when I checked out. I have requested an updated bill. I expected much more for IHG members. A credit for one night would have been nice for all the inconveniences we encountered.
