Terrible

Would not recommend. For what you pay per night, everything should be significantly better. The bathroom was filthy, there were brown stains on the curtain and door that were obvious and disgusting. The elevators are noisy and make you wonder when they were last serviced. The experience with staff was frustrating, forget getting anything by calling or even going down to the desk. Would never stay again and do not recommend.

Condition of Hotel was poor and needed significant upgrades and updates

My family and I stayed at this property 10+ years ago and had a terrific experience. That is the reason why my wife and I returned last week. What we found was disappointing. The facility is run down and in need of significant upgrades and updates. Our room keys didn't work half of the time, and we were forced to continually get replacements. The door to our room stuck open and shut and did not operate well. The bed was terrible. Wore out and in need of replacement. The elevators were dirty and the walls needed to be stripped of old signage. The elevator ceiling was falling down and several of the lights needed replacement. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Properties through the years in many different states and countries and this is by far the worst experience I can remember!

Worst Holiday Inn Express that I’ve visited

The place was dirty. The staff didn’t care. The room was filthy. The cable tv kept shutting off. The deadbolt didn’t work. The fan switch on the t-stat was broken. No outlets or changing ports on/near the nightstand. The shower has mold. The pancake machine was broken. The elevator was dirty. There’s more but I think you get the point…

Homeless people in lobby

Hotel Staff were fine however, I was sitting in the lobby and kept hearing loud continuous coughing. I got up and notice a man in wheel chair sitting at the coffee station continuously hacking over the coffee station. I told the Staff person the whole area needed to be wiped down and sanitized. He said the man was homeless. I later saw they had him in a nearby small closed office area. While I'm for helping I don't think he should've been able to camp out coughing spreading germs. In addition my friends told me there was a homeless family during breakfast touching all over things eating up food. Again, I'm sympathetic however food should have been prepared to give them. Again for sanitary reasons. Then there was food on the table, they said it was free, from an agency. Seems like the place is for the unhoused. If so, why am I paying. Would not stay again.

Poor customer service

I booked two rooms for myself and family. The hotel placed a $250 hold on my card for each room. After a week the charges had processed to my card and I paid, but the holds remained. I co texted customer service on the app and was told someone would contact me within 48 hours. That did not happen nor was the hold removed. After reaching out again I was told to contact the hotel again since they did not respond to their request. Not happy with the lack and care or concern for having a $500 hold on my card over a week after my stay and after I had paid both room balance in full.

Too many issues

I've stayed at many IHG properties before but this by far was the worst! Beds were not made and when I enquired I was advised that they are made every 5 nights! Cleaning supplies and rags were left in my room close to my baby's items. Towels were taken away and never replenished (we always had to go to the front desk for towels). The manager was very kind to give us a discount however the overall experience was horrible!

Cons: Unfriendly staff at check in and not recognized for IHG Diamond member. Did not recognize my preferred room choices and offered no upgrades.
Room was not cleaned well. Trash was not removed. Chair was broken. Beds did not have the normal mattress padding that most Holiday Inns have on their beds. Also, they are double beds so extremely small. No way 4 normal size adults or tall can fit in these beds.
The shower must not be sealed well because after the shower the carpet outside the bathroom would be wet next to the bed outside of the bathroom.
The bathroom walls and door need a deep cleaning or a desperate paint job.
No internet or tv reception in our room. Told that areas away from center of hotel didn’t have good reception. Holiday Inn invest in more equipment so all rooms have access or give a discount on those rooms.
Overall, disappointed because other reviews were positive with their stay and our stay was not positive.

I was greeted with a friendly smile but overall this by far one is the dirtiest hotels I’ve stayed in. The towels were stained, the curtains didn’t roll up, Internet was slow and there was no pool side chairs to lay out on.

Hot tub in poor condition and not working properly

Very disappointed that the hot tub was dirty and not working properly. The water was very cloudy, had yellow/brown scum in the bubbles, and the water was only like warm, not hot. The sole reason we booked the hotel was to have a hot tub after skiing, and we thus felt like this was a waste of money. We asked the front desk at 8 PM, who talked to the manager, who said they couldn’t get a key to check the temperature in the mechanical room until the morning, 12 hours later. We would’ve picked a different hotel. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, breakfast was typical for HIE. We unfortunately also had a screaming baby and yelling parents in the room next door, which could be heard clearly through the adjoining door.

PARKING

Its not visible or well explained at POS / booking that the HOTEL does not offer PARKING , the HOTEL has onsite parking but this is managed by a third party and the HOTEL doesnt even offer assitance with this service
After arriving very late on a SUNDAY night , we were told that there waas no parking available , as we had not booked through the App ........... which was sent to us via a text message some days ago. Said txt message started out with confirming our booking details and right at the end of the message , contained a link to the PARKING app. Therefore if you did NOT read the entire message , you would not realise this requirement ........... Not to mention the cost of parking is $35 P/N - way in excess of other properties in the local area and operated by IHG
When we finally got into our room after sourcing parking on the street and having to walk through many homeless and drunk people loitering in front of the hotel . Decided to take a shower after a 6hr flight - only to find the towel was WET and rolled up into a wooden open cupboard and NO addtional towels avaialable as there were 3 of us (PAID for 3) staying in the room
We purchased breakfast and this was OK , although the lack of pork sausages indicates the hotel is catering for specific tastes perhaps ..........
I use to frequent this hotel every time i went to perth for both business and pleasure , with and without family - but that was the last time and it certainly isnt worthy of the CROWN PLAZA branding , had better service and facilities at HI Express.
