I've stayed at this hotel many times.
The hotel is excellent and looks brand new.
Breakfast was great, as always.
I checked in for a 3 night stay and the wi-fi did not work in my room. I went down to inform the desk clerk and he told me that there was nothing he could do but I was welcome to use the meeting room right next to the breakfast area and the Wi-Fi worked great there. He also told me that I would have to speak to the General Manager the next morning.
I worked until about 10 PM that evening and went up to my room to go to bed. I was behind on my work so I went back down to the meeting room and about 5 AM. The daytime desk clerk came over and told me that the meeting room was not yet open. I explained that the Wi-Fi was not working in my room and asked what time the General Manager was coming in. She told me about 9:30 or 10 AM.
I got to a point where I didn't need Wi-Fi so I went back up to my room to do my work.
I ate breakfast at about 7:30 AM, great breakfast and I tipped the breakfast person as I always do.
I wnet down to the lobby and asked if the General Manager was in yet. She pointed to a man on the phone walking around the lobby laughging and talking to the person on the phone. He finally ended his call about 20 minutes later and then came over to me and asked what I wanted. I told him that the Wi'Fi was not working in my room and I would like for it to get fixed. He told me that I was free to check out and go somewhere else. I told him that since I had made a reservation for 3 nights, Holiday Inn would charge me for the full value . He siad that no, that wouldn't happen. He then went on a long explanation as to how he had upgraded his laptop so that he could see the Wi-Fis from all the businesses around the hotel. I responded with yes, I see those Wi-Fis as well but since I don't have their passwords they don't help. He then got mad and stated that I was disrespecting him. I asked how I had disrespected him? I had not yelled or called him any names. At that point, his nostrils flared and his eyes got big and he told me that I had 10 minutes to get out of his hotel. I went back to my room, packed up, and left a tip for the housekeeper as I always do. Then went down to check out and got a bill for double what it should have been. I protested and the daytime desk clerk stated that is what the General Manager told me to do.
Needless to say,. I will never darken his door again. But I fail to understand asking that the Wi-Fi work in my room qualifies as being disrespectful.
In summary, the General Manager has no clue for the value of a customer so I will stay elsewhere when I am in the area.
