So very disappointing and extremely different from any other of the HIE experiences in decades of traveling.
First, we were not informed the property was under remodeling... construction when the reservations were made. The check in person was a bit snarky...... "well its in the app".... Which may be true, but the caliber of HIE should assure that this information is made clear from every place reservations are made. I made our reservation via the HIE website.
The check in desk was in a hall way, with no markings or signage on entrance to the hotel. The mail lobby was masked over for exterior painting.
Next, there was NO breakfast service, nor a substitute alternative at a nearby restaurant. Candidly, the crisp, clean rooms, safety of location/access and the breakfast being included in the price are the value driven qualities that result in our staying in HIE properties.
Rather than relief after a 500 mile drive, the anxiety over the Santa Maria Holiday Inn experience were most disappointing and inconsistent with previous stays at other properties.
Respectfully requesting a credit for a nights stay (points) and the $18.37 for a less than satisfying nearby fast food breakfast.
