A memorable hotel in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
Holiday Inn Wilkes Barre – East Mountain sets a standard above the rest. Boasting amazing mountain and valley views, the hotel offers two on-site restaurants which include seasonal outdoor igloos in the colder months, plus a lounge. The swimming pool is lap-size, the fitness center very nicely equipped, and the sauna is perfect for a steam after a long day.
Within easy reach of I-81, the Holiday Inn is close to notable local attractions such as the Mohegan Sun Pocono Casino, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, and skiing and snowboarding at Montage Mountain, Jack Frost and Big Boulder resorts. If you are a golfer, you will appreciate the proximity to 5 area championship courses. Business travelers will find themselves within easy reach of the area’s business parks and distribution centers.
Weddings are picturesque whether indoors or outdoors, with a ballroom that accommodates up to 200 guests, and more intimate affairs outside on the greenspace and patio.

Yes, I recommend this property.
We have been staying at this hotel for approximately 12 years- staying twice per year. Over that time, we have come to know some on the staff including Charlie and Xavier - and most recently Jonathan. Due to strongly scented cleansing agents in the air conditioning duct work, my wife had a strong allergic reaction. Jonathan did everything he could to mitigate the scent- he truly went above and beyond and ultimately the situation was mitigated by his efforts. We really are truly impressed by how hard Jonathan worked to resolve the situation. Truly no one could have done any more - we are truly grateful! Kudos to Jonathan.

Overall great but be aware of train.
Yes, I recommend this property.
My wife and i struggle with insomnia and we were not aware that a train runs behind the hotel all day and night - however the staff went to great lengths to move us around and get us a room least affected by the train which they did successfully. We still heard it throughout the night but less loud and abrupt than on the other side of the hotel.
Other than the train, the hotel is gorgeous as it has been recently renovated and the food is excellent - loved the quesadillas, the chicken Florentine, the shrimp pasta and the chocolate desire cake was highly addictive!

Great Holiday Inn
Yes, I recommend this property.
I have been coming to this Holiday Inn for years on my way to MA from VA. This is after a lengthy search of my options - there weren't many and this Holiday Inn turned out to be a great choice.The staff - Charlie and Joe - is great and they ensure I get the same room every time with a gorgeous balcony view of the city and the mountains - often I get a gorgeous sunset. Although it does get loud at times with the early morning traffic. The room is clean and well maintained - The bed is decent, plenty of pillows although the mattress is on the stiff side as i prefer a pillow top.
Enjoy the in-room dining - a pretty varied menu and the prices are reasonable. Movies are ridiculously expensive - i would spend more if they were cheaper.
So overall I highly recommend this as a great place to stay
