Don’t Ask For Late Checkout!

I asked for a late checkout (12:00) because I ran a 10K and a late checkout would allow for me to shower before departure. The card shut off an 11 AM and it took over ten minutes to get someone to let me back in the room. The staff also would not reactivate the card. Without the card I had to prop open both my room door and the side hotel door to make several trips to my vehicle. On my last visit to the room at 11:55 there was a cleaner in the room. I still needed to make my sweep of the room and insisted she leave (there seemed to be some communication barrier). I rushed my sweep and missed at least a bottle of supplements that were left behind because I didn’t have adequate time to complete the checkout. Plus I felt leaving the room unsecured while I made trips to the vehicle put my safety at risk. If they didn’t want to or couldn’t accommodate a late checkout they should have not said they could. I cannot recommend this hotel. While the rest of the experience was fine, the attitude and lack of professionalism of the front desk and the room cleaning staff left a bad impression and the loss of at least one item. In all my late checkout experiences during the years I’ve been with IHG, I’ve never experienced anything like this.

No One at Check In Desk/ Security Breech

EXTREMELY concerned about check in process at this location! There is a computer tablet set up next to the front desk - no clear markings that it is official, just some self printed paper instructions on how to get started. Since no one showed up at front desk - I was compelled to use it. After a few steps of putting in name, the tablet asked me to scan my ID in front of the tablet camera. As soon as the ID was within the frame, it snapped a picture... but whatever was supposed to happen next failed. So when I hit "x" to cancel out of that screen - I COULD SEE VARIOUS OTHER CUSTOMERS DRIVERS LICENSES THAT HAD BEEN STORED ON THE COMPUTER AND IN A GOOGLE CLOUD!!!! MINE WAS NOW THERE TOO! That should be a HUGE SECURITY BREECH to your organization!!!! I understand it is hard to find employees these days, but to set up a unmarked and shady looking computer tablet to check in - and then see that tablet is completely unsecured that everyone who used it has their ID information out in the open is terrifying!!!! I brought it to the attention of an employee that finally showed up at the front desk. She assured me that my ID and the others would be deleted ASAP - but the next morning as I left, I went to the tablet - and with a couple of clicks I was able to see there was an Drivers license ID of the last person that checked in that way clearly visible if I was inclined to capture their data. I don't know who is responsible for that tablet check in - but you should hold them accountable and ALERT everyone that has used it that their information was compromised...

Most Horrible Experiance this trip

I was at this property for 2 days, personally think this is not value for Money. The rooms are tiny (note not small but tiny).
I ate on both the days first day was decent, but 2nd day dinner was so horrible, Food was ICE cold and gave a pungent smell, the food was empty no refills but they started seeing it after Informed the crew. Brownie was hard as stone.

I did not eat that day and gave feedback, but the staff was not even sensible to get the manager or Chef to talk with me which I felt this review mechanism was just eye wash, I will be happy to talk with the manager or anyone who can really make a difference

Not what I expected!

Hotel could use a renovation. Smelled musty when walking in. Terrible customer service. Not sure if due to lack of staff or lack of caring from staff. Remote control for tv didn't work. Ice machine on floor didn't work. All wasn't bad..the beds were comfortable.

Very disappointed that we were charged for parking and breakfast after all the money spent on the room. I chose this Holiday Inn because I normally love staying at them. They are normally comfortable and have decent breakfast included with your room. This particular charger extra for parking ($25 per night) and for breakfast. If I ever return to Kansas City I will not stay at this location.

Pretty good stay follow up

I sent the email April 28, 2025. I have yet to get a response. It's evident that management dots their I's and crosses their T's but doesn't truly care about the customer experience. The best part is I never leave reviews but I was so disappointed with being charged twice I felt the need. No consideration was given from management from the day I went to check into the hotel. The staff was great and did their best but management continues to prove the disconnect between them and patrons.

Filthy room and tv broken

The only saving grace of this hotel was Carlos the Technician on staff. When he entered our room and determined the TV was broken, he apologized that it wasn’t verified to work before we arrived. Once we showed him the pictures of the dirty bed cover, tar like goo stuck to my wife’s foot from the floor, dirty towel, and dirty carpet, he immediately worked to get us a different room. At this point, I had already complained to the front desk, who credited points to our account and sent someone to “deep clean” our room. I asked for another room, but receptionist preferred not to change rooms and said that they could do a deep clean and fix the tv. The room was cleaner, but had a strong bleach smell and tv still broken. Carlos spoke to the GM quickly, got us moved to another room, and 1 night comped. He was very apologetic and understanding of how bad the room was. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, but the hotel is lucky to have someone on staff like Carlos.

Candlewood Suites hotels are extended-stay properties. Housekeeping service is provided every seven days. If you need fresh towels or additional supplies please stop by the front desk. Candlewood Suites hotels do not serve breakfast every morning due to the fact every room has a full kitchen in the room. However, we have several options in our Candlewood Cupboard for purchase. There are also several restaurant options in the vicinity and within walking distance.

I will NEVER stay here again

This hotel really needs to be torn down and then rebuilt. From the entry way, the hallways, the rooms they all smelt horrible. The room was dirty, I was given a second room which was just as bad as the first. The bathrooms had mold around all of the soap dispensers. The floors were horrible. The shower was dirty. The carpet had not been shampooed in years. The whole hotel was a disaster
