When looking for somewhere to stay for a short break in Florence I wasn't aware that there was an IHG hotel that had recently opened. So when I started looking for a hotel near the centre and close to the T2 tram line from Florence Airport I found this Indigo just off the line and last stop before the Railway Station. A very short walk.
I like the Indigo type hotels from this chain and this is no exception. Check in was easy and the staff very efficient. One in particular (I couldn not see his name but he had a Trainee badge on) went that extra mile to inform us about the hotel, our room and the areas of Florence to visit for Tourism, Shopping and Food even recommending a few good eateries.
The room was quite spacious with all the expected facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was a walk in type. Toiletries were good. Everything was kept very clean. We even had a nice view out the front of the hotel.
Breakfast was very good with a selection of hot dishes and big selection of cold cheeses, meats and fruits etc. The staff were helpful (Teapots and milk requests) and efficient with fresh replenishments regularly.
It is rare these days to come across a hotel where all the staff give you a smile.
We would not hesitate to stay here again should we visit as it is close to the rail station (flights to Pisa) and the connection to Florence Airport.
Using our own walking pace we found we could get to the Duomo Area in just about 10 minutes
Additionally Binomio Restauirant -
Located to the side of but part of the Indigo Hotel this is a lovely restaurant which is probably so new that it does not register on many searches.
We had not booked but this was no problem. Service was impecible and Emanuelle was fantastic explaining choices on the menu. However when it came to wine choices he was at the top of his game. Excellent local choices from little know areas. His descriptions, unlike some places, did not lead to more expensive choices which was appreciated.
The menu is Florentian/Tuscan in dishes but quite varied. The Chefs gift of a small beef tartar with avacado puree was a complete eye opener.
We wish this restaurant much success in the future.
Note - the attached Cocktail Bar is good (check out the size of the Negroni bottle).
