We’ve always loved InterContinental Jimbaran — this was our third time staying here because it had become one of our favorite places in Bali. Unfortunately, this time our experience didn’t quite live up to our past visits, and we left feeling disappointed.
We were supposed to receive an upgraded room, but instead we were placed in one right next to a central machine — possibly part of the air conditioning or exhaust system. The noise was intense; the entire room was resonating, and it woke us up around 2–2:30 AM.
We called the front desk and, after a long process, we were finally moved — but it took nearly two hours. First, someone came to check and confirmed it was noisy. Then we had to wait again for the manager to come and confirm the same thing, which we didn’t quite understand. It felt unnecessarily long and exhausting. Eventually, we were given a different room and were finally able to go back to sleep around 4:15 AM — by then, we were extremely tired and frustrated.
The next day, we were moved to another room on the mezzanine level, which unfortunately seemed to be in need of renovation. The air conditioning wasn’t functioning well — the room never got properly cool — and the bathroom had issues with the shower and door. Even after requesting better pillows, we weren’t able to get comfortable ones. At that point, we were too tired to request another room change and just decided to stay put.
We had been so looking forward to this holiday, so it’s truly disappointing that this stay didn’t go as smoothly as before. We still love the location and have fond memories of our previous visits, but we hope the hotel can address these issues so that future experiences can live up to the high standard we know they’re capable of.
