No, I do not recommend this property.
We needed a room that had a separate bedroom with a closable door. What we got were split doors that didn't close, had a 1/2" gap in between, and were grimy from years of guests and lack of cleaning ever. Grimy and nasty are perfect descriptors for this entire property.
Loose bath fixtures, a tub you'd never ever take a bath in, noisy A/C, chairs in the kitchen where there should be bar stools (if your torso is unusually long then I guess they'd be okay :) ), TVs from the 1990s/early 2000s, no outlets at night tables, and sleeping for eight but kitchen dishes/glasses/flatware for two. Go figure.
There is one tiny elevator that maybe holds six people w/o luggage. The button on the fourth floor was falling off when you pressed it. We opted for the stairs (and we were on the fourth floor.) The wait time for the elevator was ridiculous.
Breakfast is a "must-skip" adventure. Powdered eggs. Partially cooked bacon. No potatoes. Fresh blueberries though. Very poor choices. Mediocre coffee.
I can't dislike this place enough. Do yourself a favor, do not stay here. Go somewhere else. If you need a separate bedroom just book two rooms. You'll thank me later.
InterContinental Beijing Beichen is a luxury hotel boasting iconic views and premium amenities. Located at the vibrant Olympic Park area, the Dual Olympic hotel offers unrivaled convenience, next to the CNCC, with easy access to the Water Cube, the Bird's Nest, attractions, and shopping destinations. With a diverse selection of restaurants, lively lounges, a heated indoor pool, and a 24-hour gym featuring TECONOGYM, it’s the ideal place to unwind after exploring, meetings, or conferences.
If you want to be right in the middle of the Beijing Olympic Center or next to the China National Converntion Center, this is you place. But compared to a relatively high standard of other Intercontinental hotels this one disappoints a little. It just feels a bit old and tired. Everything was “okay” but leaned more towards “average” vs “outstanding.” The bathrooms could use a refreshing. Lots of old water stains, maybe rust deposits? And I was VERY surprised to see a seemingly permanent “Do NOT drink the water from the bathroom sink” sign. Hmmm...makes me think third world country, not an Intercontinental experience. The breakfast buffet was excellent, a bright spot at the property. The lounge/bar food options were poor. They looked like they once had gelato but no more...bummer. Draft beer choices were minimal. Stay for the location, don’t expect too much additional “Wow!”
