The pool was not advertised as closed. This was the only reason we traveled to this destination because it had an indoor pool. That was an unhappy point. We chose to dine in the bar area and they couldn’t fulfill the first request for mushrooms on my husbands burger. Then they couldn’t fulfill the request for the replacement because they didn’t have pepper jack cheese. Then, the replacement for that order was blacked chicken Alfredo and there was no blackening season, and it wasn’t hot. My fries were cold. The bar did not have grenadine so he could not make me a Cherry Coke. I was sad. The server was trying so hard and very apologetic. He was the best part of the stay. The King Suite was clean and roomy and having two bathrooms was nice. I was happy to see the large tub and it nearly made up for not having a pool, but the jets do not work. So I was sad again. Redeeming quality, there was plenty of hot water and I was able to have a fully hot bath all the way to the top. At this point, I read the reviews on the hotel. That’s when I read about the train. Thankfully, we have a rainstorm playlist so we drowned it out with that all night. I took a shower in the morning and was standing in the bathroom at 10:05 AM and I heard the door open and someone walk in. Apparently the maid just walks in the rooms to check if people are still there, without knocking, without announcing, and before check out. She did it to all the rooms on the floor. I was happy that I was dressed and was happy that my husband that was laying on the bed, in full view of the door she walked through, was dressed. Over all, if I had never stayed at a hotel before and this was my first experience, I would probably never stay in another one again.

Older hotel with no nearby amenities.

This was an older hotel which needs a facelift. The main downfall is the location which has nothing close restaurants nearby, and the closest town is truly shady. As a female traveller, I did not feel safe driving around at night looking for dinner.

Terrible front desk person name Connie

I recently stayed at this hotel with my family, booking several rooms for our visit to town for a funeral. From the moment we walked in, the experience was unsettling. The staff member, Connie, immediately made us feel uncomfortable by insinuating that we were trying to cram into a single room, despite our group being large and having multiple rooms booked.
To make matters worse, another family in the lobby overheard Connie making a derogatory comment, calling us “ghetto” and even saying she might need to call the police on us. This was not only inappropriate but incredibly distressing, especially considering we were already under the emotional strain of attending a funeral.
The treatment we received from Connie completely overshadowed the quality of the hotel itself, and it was a disappointing experience, especially given the caliber of the establishment. Hotels should offer a welcoming environment, and unfortunately, this was far from that. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and addresses the behavior of their staff to ensure no other guests feel the way we did, especially since there are multiple reviews stating they received this same treatment from this staff member as well.

Bait and switch? Advertise a pool that's been closed for 2 months!?

Moving our family from NH to Northern MN so was excited to find a pet friendly hotel with a pool along our route. I booked directly on the holiday Inn website. To say I was EXTREMELY disappointed my 18-month-old grandson was unable to swim in a pool that's been closed for months..... AND THAT WAS NOT COMMUNICATED at all during the booking process or I would have gone somewhere else... especially at the rate we paid.... the apathetic front desk person said this was the discounted rate (over $300 for two rooms)?!
No milk for cereal at the breakfast, pancake machine was not working and the eggs were awful.
It's been a long time since I've been this frustrated with a lodging experience. I can say I will likely skip IHG hotels going forwarded.
Our room was pretty clean, missing a TV and the coffee pot in the room didn't work... seems like they've still got some work to do.
I sure wish I'd have checked Google reviews instead of trusting the ones on the website.

You absolutely must pack curtains and cleaning supllies. The walls in the tub dirty. Corners of tub surround and floors all have crud. Surround had slime. Sink had blood splatter. And under rim was black moldy.
Pool surround needs a scrub.
They drained the hottub no notice and so no use.

Shocked and Disappointed

I've been an IHG Rewards member for over a decade now and I am appalled at how this hotel has smeared the Holiday Inn image.
This past week has been my third stay at this hotel in the last 18 months and here is what has changed for the negative:

1) They don't have any continental breakfast anymore. Not that I even eat breakfast at hotels because it is REALLY REALLY bad for you....but I do enjoy a morning cup of coffee.
They don't even serve coffee anymore. You have to BUY a cup of coffee. Because the cleaning crew won't even restock your room with fresh K-cups of coffee.
And when I asked the front desk for coffee they told me that all they could give me was decaf K-cups.
