I was not expecting the rooms to be more motel like

Pulling up, I thought the entrance and lobby were nice. When I was assigned the room, I was not expecting a motel like set-up instead of an actual hotel. Exterior entrance door with gaps at the bottom are a little off putting. I stepped in what I hoped was ketchup. It was red and sticky by the bed. Not good at all.

Stay near the University of Mississippi "Ole Miss" at the newly renovated Holiday Inn Express Oxford, MS. Room was beautiful and Kira at front desk was so accommodating … however the desk chair in the room had awful stains, particularly dried blood, not sure what else and tears… and the hot water did not work.. the dial only turned halfway

Great Staff but Dated

I will start by saying the problem with this hotel is not the staff. The staff was absolutely amazing! They were friendly and work hard to give you the best experience possible. The hotel in general needs some attention. The hot water is hit or miss. We never had hot water in the sink and the shower sometimes had hot water. There were also ceiling tiles with wires hanging in the hallway. It just didn’t feel up to the quality we’re used to at IHG properties.

Small, cold room.

The location and the staff were both great. The room was not. First issue was that the window frame was not properly sealed so cold air came in along the side. It was very cold to work at the desk (under the window). The other problem is that, while most city hotel rooms are small, in this room both the TV and the beds were attached at the back to supports several inches deep, which narrowed the room enough that I had to turn sideways to walk to the desk without my shoulder hitting the TV.

Increased my rate by over $100 for one night

I had a rate for $185 a night with confirmation. When I checked in, it was $275. I brought this to 2 of the workers
at the desk and was told a supervisor would call me. I also sent this to a manger by email and have not heard back from anyone at this hotel.

Not what it used to be.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times for work over the last ten years. Location is its biggest upside. When I stayed here in 2019, they were remodeling. I will say, I do like the river next to the hotel. The road noise is loud during the day, and drowns the river noise out though.
Six years later I returned and was very disappointed with the upkeep on the room. The floors were clean, but sticky, the furniture was gross and stained, and the walls dirty.
Every single contact I had with female front desk staff was superiorly negative. The long-haired guy at night was awesome, and very accommodating. But those other ladies, yikes! Whether by phone or in person, they were just nasty to us. As if I was begging for food, or stealing from them. All I wanted to do was check in!
Staff alone motivates me to skip this property in the future, not the mention the poor upkeep.

The staff was very nice. I actually felt bad for the person working the front desk because the hotel lost power in several of the rooms and it was sold out so she had to juggle the mess. Unfortunately I have yet to hear from the manager Jessica, seeing that we had to relocate our room 3 times and they actually had to downgrade my reservation

I was informed at check-in about a $93.00 convenience fee. That is outrageous! I have previously stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels and I never heard of this issue. I am currently staying at a holiday inn hotel in Pensacola and was not billed any fee at check in. I will not b using this hotel again because of the this issue.
