Housekeeping

When we checked in we noticed that the bath towels were stained and dirty, also the hand towels. We found a housekeeping employee in the hallway and we requested a new set of towels but they bring me another set stained. I stopped at the front desk, I returned the stains one and they gave me clean ones. Thank you Front desk!
Also, we request sheets because when I arrived the sheets were used and smells of perfume on it.
The fire alarm starts on insode the entire building when I was sleeping and all the guest where running outside the building and thanks God was a false alarm.

The InterContinental Porto Palácio das Cardosas, in a former 18th century palace, is a luxurious five-star hotel located in the historic centre of Porto. Our hotel boasts stunning views of the emblematic Avenida dos Aliados and is an ideal location steps away from the city's best destinations. After a day of exploring Porto, return to a decadent meal at Astoria Restaurant, state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, tranquil spa, and elegant guest rooms.

Myself and my wife stayed at InterContinental Porto - Palacio das Cardosas for a night as part of my wife’s birthday celebrations. The location is superb, ideally situated to explore wonderful Porto on foot. I should mention that there is major construction taking place to the metro, looks terrible however we did not hear anything in the room and there was no issue with it at all. InterContinental Porto - Palacio das Cardosas is set in a renovated 18th-century palace, a lovely feeling of luxury on entering the reception area plush deep pile carpet that sinks underfoot. The interior is top of the range, beautiful floral arrangements, with impressive Swarovski chandeliers illuminating the marbled floors.
The check-in was okay and fast with a professional attitude, run of the mill service, staff slightly cold and impersonal.
Our room was a premium room on the fourth floor a nice big room, very clean, comfortable, quiet, with good facilities coffee maker, and well stocked minibar. Bed was of great quality. On the down side unfortunately the room lights were incredibly poor, disappointed about the inadequate lighting, far too dimly lit. No full length mirror present in the room, although there was one concealed in the wardrobe door, but annoyingly whilst the door was open the wardrobe light made a buzzing/humming noise very frustrating! It was nice to have a single armchair in the room to place stuff on but would off preferred hooks in the room to hang our wet jackets up. The airconditioning wasn't strong or cold enough. The bathroom was a good size with a big sink with plenty of counter space, separate toilet and a walk-in rain shower but found the water pressure to be poor. Bathroom products on offer were Bal d'Afrique from Byredo, a scent I really like.
Enjoyed drinks at the classy Bar das Cardosas such a pleasant bar, a relaxing place to sit with a beer accompanied by excellent service.
Breakfast was satisfactory with nothing really outstanding the variety of breakfast was not good enough, it was served in the Astoria restaurant which had a beautiful and decadent atmosphere but the food was not that typical of an InterContinental. The coffee during breakfast was undrinkable.
It's has been a very mixed experience, a perfect location, but this InterContinental hotel felt a step down, not the best from most that I have experienced.

Breakfast not on time

Breakfast was not ready at 7:00 and I had to be somewhere. Breakfast was not out until close to 7:30. Then there was a huge line of students waiting for breakfast. I was unable to eat because I could not wait in the long line. When I went down to the lobby at 7:10 breakfast was not out and there was no line . I went back to my roll and 15 minutes later there was a huge line and food was still coming out

Lots of other choices in the area

If you cant be in central Amsterdam then locating near a train station 5 minutes away from Central is a good 2nd choice. Very busy hotel. Views were good on the 6th flr. Quiet except for people outside hotel most times of day and night (it is a busy station). No fridge or microwave. Spar grocery store next door and a few fast food choices at the station. The breakfast is basic - scrambled eggs but no other hot items. There are other hotel choices nearby some with kitchens - we checked the price for one the day we left - it was 115 Euros for a really nice place (cant remember name) with kitchen - less than what we paid at Holiday Inn. But that was last minute so check your prices.

Welcome to Torchbearer Award Winning Hotel The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Wheeling, West Virginia is conveniently located off I-70 at Exit 10 Cabela Drive and close access to many delicious restaurants like The Texas Roadhouse, Cheddars, Primanti Brothers, Quaker Steak and Lube, and Chick-fil-A to name a few. We are located at The Highlands and just minutes from WesBanco Arena home of the Wheeling Nailers and also very close proximity to the Wheeling Hospital . During the Holiday Season, people from all around come to enjoy the Wheeling’s famous Festival of Lights which is a very popular event. Located just minutes away is Wheeling Island Casino where you can enjoy a gambling night of fun! Our guests will enjoy many of our on-site amenities and accommodations including a variety of room types, an indoor heated pool and hot tub, on-site laundry, complimentary Wi-Fi and our new Express Start Breakfast! Each of our rooms contains a Keurig, microwave, and refrigerator along with very comfortable beds!

Lots of little things.

The hotel overall looked nice and was clean when I first walked in there was nobody at the front desk another guest had been waiting for a while he went and had to track her down. As a matter of fact every time I went out to the front on afternoon shift there was no one out there. When I checked in I asked if I could have a room in a different location because it was right by the elevator and the bathrooms and where I knew a lot of noise would be and she said that they were pretty full and couldnt but I'm pretty sure she just didn't want to get in the computer and change the locations because we were an earlier arrival lots of people had not checked in yet and wasnt sold out but I didn't want to argue. In the room the toilet rocked so bad it wasn't just it needed a new wax ring it was like barely bolted down. The remote was all gunked up. The beds were really hard but I know that's not something management controls. Every morning all we heard in the hallway was housekeeping and maintenance yelling back and forth right outside our room so that was pretty aggravating. I asked for a noon check out on the second day we were there and someone was pounding on the door from housekeeping right at 11:00 so that information didn't get relayed. Overall the property was great but it was just so many little things.

Disappointing

After a long day on the road, we arrived at this hotel with a coupon valid for a discounted rate. We were informed at check-in that the hotel was instructed not to accept these coupons any longer even though the coupon was valid for another two months. After driving for 9 hours we were not up to searching for another hotel so we stayed a paid the full price ($40 more). The room had a musty smell. This seemed at least partly due to a rancid shower curtain. The hotel restaurant is an adjacent Denny's. The food was fine but service was slow and the floor was tacky suggesting it had not been properly cleaned. The bed, lighting and wifi were fine. All in all, a disappointment.

Holiday Inn® Lancaster hotel is just off the M6, with easy access to the Lake District. The shops and attractions of Lancaster are a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, leave the car in the hotel's free car park and catch a bus to the town centre from the stop outside the hotel. Lancaster Station is served by direct trains to Manchester. Blackpool Airport (BLK) is 40 minutes' drive from the hotel.
The hotel is just 20 minutes' drive from the scenic Lake District National Park. A 10-minute drive from the hotel, the 12th-century Lancaster Castle is surrounded by parkland. Nearby, the riverside Lancaster Maritime Museum occupies a former warehouse. Morecambe Bay, 20 minutes' drive from the hotel, offers coastal walks and seafront cafés. Lancaster University is easily accessible and only a 15 minutes' drive from the hotel.
Business guests are 20 minutes' drive from Heysham Power Station. At the hotel, you can host meetings for up to 100 people in seven flexible conference rooms with AV equipment and free WiFi.
In the relaxed restaurant, start your day with a buffet breakfast, or enjoy an evening meal with family or colleagues. Poor Accessible Room Quality

Very disappointed on arrival in the Accessible Room as it had a bath you needed help to step or climb into, the shower curtain was badly stained and dirty, and the bathroom smelt strongly of urine!!! I was told that there were only two accessible rooms in the whole hotel, so it needs updating!
On a positive note, the Reception Staff were very helpful and swapped us to another room that had a walk in shower. Sadly our room backed onto a flat roof with a somewhat noisy extractor fan!
The Dining Room Staff were very friendly and helpful, the tables and floor clean, and food was excellent.
