ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto is situated right in front of the prominent world heritage site Nijo-Castle, surrounded by an abundance of greenery and seasonal flowers.
Around the perimeter of the Nijo Castle is an ideal place for a jog or perhaps a stroll. Direct Shuttle Bus runs conveniently to and from JR Kyoto Station and Nijojo-mae Subway Station are located just a minute's walk away.
Nearby bus stops provide guests with easy access to major sightseeing spots, downtown areas as well as the Gion district, where guests may bump into a Geisha or Maiko on the way to work. ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto is the ideal hotel for both sightseeing and business purposes.
In each of our 6 restaurants, Japanese, Szechwan, French, Teppanyaki, Tempura as well as the Café, expert chefs proudly serve distinctive seasonal dishes which will surely be a feast for all our guest’s senses.
Also, guests can unwind in our lounge under the dynamic view of the 7m waterfall cascade or sink into a sofa in the member’s bar and enjoy the elegant and intimate setting over a drink.
Our standard rooms, based around the color white, ensure tranquility, our spacious deluxe rooms provide warmth in abundance and our renovated rooms blend Kyoto tradition and modern stylishness.
All guest rooms in the hotel are well appointed and equipped with high-speed Internet access via LAN and Wi-Fi, as well as a humidifier and VOD.

A hotel in need of a complete refurb to bring it into the 21st Century

Whilst I recognise that a couple of the upper floors have been refurbished, the rooms we received on arrival were well below the standard expected of an IHG hotel and not what we had booked (many months in advance).
They were extremely dated, poorly maintained e.g. marked carpets, wallpaper stains, deeply embedded nicotine odours (mainly in corridors) and limited natural light.
After complaining, we managed to get one of the rooms changed to a refurbished room on the 6th floor but our daughters were left with the room on the 3rd floor. We ended swapping rooms with them as we couldn’t expect them to put up with the condition of the 3rd floor for the duration of the stay at the hotel.
The pre-arrival email promised enjoying a comfortable room and great amenities. These expectations were not met.
The staff are doing their best in the circumstances and this is not a criticism of the staff. The onus is upon the owners of the hotel to bring the whole hotel up to IHG standards, into the 21st Century and provide the comfortable rooms

The refurbishment needs to be completed at pace to match the hotel with it’s surroundings.

Not Like The Other Holiday Inns We Have Stayed At

We always stay at Holiday Inn whenever we travel because they are always clean, the staff is always friendly and there is a good breakfast included. This stay was somewhat different from our past experiences, but we still enjoyed it. The clerk at the front desk was not very outgoing and friendly when we arrived and she did not know much about the area. The room was clean except for a few stains on the floor that seem like they could have been cleaned. The alarm clock was not working and after checking further, it was found to be unplugged. This made me question just how well does the housekeeping actually clean the rooms between stays. The bathroom did not have any towel hooks close to the shower and instead they were located outside the bathroom in the main entry. This is strange as I did not want to put my clean towel on the bathroom floor next the the shower. There was no do not disturb sign to put on the outside door handle and when I went to ask for one at the front desk, the clerk went looking for one, even in empty rooms, but could not find one. He said he would let housekeeping know not to touch our room as we were only going to be there one more night. When we returned from being out all day, the room had been entered and the beds were made as well as fresh towels were in the bathroom. I did not appreciate this as we did not plan for someone to be in our room and had valuables left out in plain view. The first day we were there, we went to use the pool at about 8:15 p.m. and it was closed even though we were told it closes at 9:00 p.m. Overall, we enjoyed the stay and would stay here again.

If you dont mind lots of cleaning chemicals making your eyes burn and nose runny until raw, this place is ok. The jetted tub blew other guests hair and other stuff out of the jets when turned on.

Not an IHG

I don’t know why this is listed on your website, but it is not a Holiday Inn!
The guy at the front desk explained that they had left IHG and the hotel even had signage that said Kalamazoo Inn and Suites.
My guess is that they were not leaving IHG, but had been kicked out as this was one of the worst hotels. The bathroom sink and shower did not operate properly, and there was just an empty space where the refrigerator would have been.
It was kind of a joke that I got duped into staying at this hotel because it was listed on your website!

Bad Experience

I have stayed at this hotel many times and usually have had a good experience. However, during this visit, I am debating if I will ever stay here again. From the time I checked in, it was a bad experience. I was not greeted as a GOLD Elite Rewards Club Member by the young lady who checked me in and I was also not provided the room location I had requested when I made the reservation several weeks in advance.. I understand the first floor is limited, but then I had asked to be close to the elevator and she had assigned me a room as far from the elevator as you could get. She refused to make any attempt to accommodate my REQUESTS. She would not even listen to my reasonable requests. I even called the day before and she did not understand I was verifying. She just said she would not assign rooms until the next day. Overall, the reception was a bad experience.

Along with easy access to Interstate 40, 65 and 24 we are located just a few miles away to Vanderbilt University, TSU, Vanderbilt Medical Center, Baptist and Saint Thomas hospitals. Only 5 miles to Downtown Nashville, Fifth and Broadway, Country Music Hall of Fame, The Ryman, and so much more. There is shopping all over Nashville, plus some of the best eateries you will find any where. Don't forget to visit the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, Titans football Nissan Stadium or First Horizon Park and see the Nashville Sounds play baseball. Last but not least the newest addition to Nashville visit GEODIS park for soccer. Other place to visit while in Nashville is The Grand Ole Opry, the General Jackson, The Parthenon at Centennial Park, Bell Meade Historic site and Winery. We are not Pet Friendly and do not offer a shuttle service.

FIND ANOTHER IHG - NOT THAT GREAT

The staff didn't have a good rapport with the courtesy that most IHG hotel greeters make sure they give guests. For example, I was passed a warm bottle of water for being a club member, as if it's a joke. The lobby was small and it felt old. The gym was very small, there was one old elevator and the room was small and the beds were not comfortable - they were very hard and the bathroom was half in the room and half out (the sink in the room - very small room). There is also this trend of having no indoor pools but then the outdoor pools arent' ever open until after May. Indoor pools that are nice at the IHG hotels are a plus. Anyways, we really didn't want to stay here any longer than we had to, so we got up and out of there asap in the morning to hit the road. Then there was the breakfast. We really didn't like staying here so we arrived down in the lobby at 6am - ALL THE BREAKFAST HOT ITEMS WERE COLD. I whole pile of bacon was literally cold and most have been cooked an hour before breakfast was set to start or someone didn't even make sure the warmers for their hot food were on. I took 2 plates and went back to our room to use the microwave to heat them up.

We stayed in a suite and faucet would not turn on by the microwave. Stains on carpet and wall. Wall had been scratched up with a face figure. The room just needed a little attention.
