renovation celebration

The signs in the lobby talk about celebrating ongoing renovations, but we saw no workers doing that in the 4 days we stayed at your property. The only sign of possible work being done was an extension cord that was removed from the hall on the last day we were there. May I suggest you remove those signs because all they do is glaringly point out that your property is old and worn out. It's insulting because you really aren't doing anything to celebrate. We asked if there was another jacuzzi room and we were told, yes, 3 others, but they are all closed due to the wonderful renovations that you're celebrating. The fitness room had been closed for at least a year (per front desk), which we were notified of only 3 days prior to our stay. Your rate policy stated that we could not cancel without forfeiting one night's stay and would lose all if we canceled less than 3 days prior. This did not give us time to find another hotel to stay at. The room had a strong bleach smell when we arrived which was later replaced with strong musty odor for the remainder of our stay. We mentioned this to the front desk, and they said they would bring a dehumidifier up, but we never saw one. We constantly ran the loud, half broken, bathroom fan, hoping to alleviate some of the smell, but that didn't help. We stayed in a room with a jetted tub which was difficult and dangerous to enter and exit. My wife slid into the tub causing her other leg to hit the edge of the tub and has a bruise to prove it. The step should be a cut out, and the inside of the tub should have non-slip treads, as it was very slippery with or without water present.
When we booked, we expected breakfast would be included it, because it used to be, but it was not, adding significant expense and inconvenience to our trip. Disappointed is an understatement.

Welcome to the newly renovated Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bradenton West, one of Bradenton Florida's best hotels. We are located less than one mile from IMG Academy and 5 miles from beautiful Anna Maria Island. We welcome visitors who are in town watching the Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training or attending an event at Premier Sports Complex.
Our hotel's leisure guests know that the best Florida beaches are nearby, so plan to spend the day exploring Anna Maria Island or visiting the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. The Ringling Museum is a great way to spend a day with your family and its only 8 miles away!
Our accommodations also offer free Wi-Fi, parking and hot breakfast. Maintain your workout routine at our 24-hour fitness center or go for a swim in our outdoor heated pool. Each room is equipped with a microwave, mini-refrigerator, Keurig, 43" adjustable mount TV, Numerous plug outlets and in-room safe. Suites also include pull out sofas, and 2nd TV.

The property is a little rundown, and the rooms have broken and beat up furnishings. The 3rd floor hallway and rooms smell like a combo of stale cigarettes and mildew. We rented 2 rooms and they both smelled that way.

Failure to provide customer service from the manager Tasha, additional charges made to my card, hot water is a milky color, elevators out of service

I was charged additional amount on card for breakfast even though it was included with my reservation and I gave the voucher to the breakfast attendant. Have called 4 times over a month to have issue resolved. First time, was told it would be credited. Second time was told manager (Tasha) would call me back. She did not. Third time, spoke to Tasha and was told it would be credited. Fourth time was sent to Tahsa's voicemail and she has failed to return my call. Finally had to dispute charge with credit card company. Hot water in room had a milky color. Was not clear as water should be. The elevators always have issues. Using the stairs is not an option because the door to the stairs is outside the building, is locked and cannot be opened with a key card. All these issues could be forgiven if the charge was refunded and if the manager showed enough respect to follow through and return phone calls. The breakfast attendant, Angel, and the front desk agent, Brayden, are both great.

Almost the same issues- with a 6 year gap! In 2019, family experienced bed bugs.. now 6 years later, the toilet had body residue and the entire room smelled like feet !

Disappointing overall

Staff did not correct any of the issues I brought up to their attention about my room. They texted me like they cared but when I responded they did not fix the actual issues. Breakfast is atrocious with no variety and staff was rude when they did not need to be.

Mishandled rooming

After a month waiting for a manager to contact me about the mishandling of my room situation still no contact. A month ago I booked a bilateral suite and my room was intentionally given away. There was no solution other than to give me a basic queen room. Veronica I believe was her name openly told me the room was given away because it was not booked in a block for a group conference. Then preceeded to tell me another quest also booked the same type of room outside of the block and was able to keep there room. I'm highly disappointed in the what the situation was handled by staff on site as well as the customer service agents contacted by phone no one has reached out since I put in the complaint.

Bad breakfast, poor amenities

The hotel is very beautiful, kids loved the coy fish ponds and kind housekeeping allowed my daughters to help with feeding. We payed for breakfast included for a room with my reservation being for 4 people, yet I only got to breakfast tickets. Also description give online said buffet breakfast yet breakfast was unconventional and menu made little sense for being near so many family attractions. The weather was cold in the evening yet onsite heating patio locations were all missing cushions and were obviously set up to not me used it was very unfortunate. I had never statyed at a crown plaza and even though it was a beautiful hotel I was fairly disappointed.

Absolutely disgusting

This was the dirtiest, nastiest hotel I’ve ever stepped foot in. While under renovations, rooms should not be booked for guests that have not been cleaned and prepared properly. I have over a dozen photos of dirt, mold, broken fixtures and more. The entire hotel smelled like mildew. The breakfast was comparable to a microwave meal, cold and gross. The coffee bar was gross. The elevator was gross. There was no hot water for our showers. The bathroom was covered in dirt and mold. The pool was absolutely horrendous and completely unusable although open.
