First off, as in previous ratings, you'll see that we only stay at Holiday Inn Express. During soccer season, we are staying at a hotel every weekend for tournaments. In 10 years, I've had no problems with this franchise, which is why we choose to stay only here. Recently, this has not been the case. It's been one problem after the next. Anyways, we were at a tournament in Orlando and decided to spend the night in Dayton Beach and mess around the following day. Called the direct line for a certain hotel and pushed the number for the front desk. Put thru to a lady that was to help use book a room. The particular hotel we were asking about was booked full, and she suggested a different one. I told her we wanted on the beach and free breakfast. She booked us a room with these 2 expectations. Within 20 minutes of booking, I got to the hotel to check in and waited in line for 30 min. 1. No where near the beach and 2. It was not an Express <no breakfast>. They do not have any 2 bed, queen rooms. She told me I would have to call the number where I booked it and have them refund my reservation. At this time, I was not happy. I'd been sitting in 95 degrees, sunny weather for 4 hrs, and tired. I explained to her that I had called the hotel directly <not a 3rd party> and why would they book a room that was not available? She didn't know.. So, i went outside and called the hotel back and found out all calls for reservations are sourced out to call center. Anyways, they tried to book me another room 20 miles away, but I couldn't guarantee that said room would be available when I arrived. They then informed me that I had to go back inside the hotel to cancel my reservation. After another 30 wait in line... Ugggg The lady at the front desk said she could put our party of 3 in a King room. I asked for a discounted rate or free breakfast vouchers, for the issues we had, she said she could give us the king for the price of the 2 queens. The king is higher.. Why? It sleeps less people.. Because they have fewer of them rooms to rent out.. Go figure. Tired and OVER IT, I took the room. I'm definitely going to be rethinking my future stays and going to go with a different brand. The customer service is seriously lacking, and one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. How do you book direct, then arrive and your rooms not available? DO BETTER HOLIDAY INN..

From a broken shower (forgot to take a picture) to the worst front desk clerk and the worst breakfast food and dirtiest breakfast area imaginable I will never stay there again and suggest no one stay there. This is NOT a typical Holiday Inn with a nasty area where signs say NEXT LEVEL breakfast but there's nothing hot. *Unless you order and pay $12 or more extra for every plate of eggs! You get cold, stale cereal or day old muffins. That was not what was online when I booked and not what I experienced at the Holiday Inn Fort Payne the night prior. After we commented on the lousy breakfast the front desk clerk stated that all Holiday Inns were removing hot breakfasts. Furthermore she was rude talking about us when she thought we couldn't hear saying and I quote, "Too bad, You can't please everyone."

Requested fresh towels, and a new refrigerator that worked. I called down to front desk, was told she would come up with fresh towels. She never came. I could not relax, waited two hours while my son and husband relaxed and slept. I finally scooped all the wet towels into my arms, carried them down two flights. Soon I approached the front desk woman, asked her after two hours what happened to the towels? She said " I forgot your room number". Then she reported that IF I wanted towel service I should have requested at 9am. Sorry, we were never ever informed of this on check in

Price quoted was $175.00 plus taxes, paid $258.00 for a non-view room. $45.00 in fees they could not explain, and $20.00 for handicapped parking. It would have been nice if this had been explained when I booked the room. Check-in clerk was not helpful. Room was on the sixth floor, but still had traffic noise, air conditioner sounded like an airplane propeller and needed to be cleaned. Entry door did not lock properly, and bathroom door would not close. I quit staying at IHG/Holiday inn properties six years ago and decided to give them another chance, I will not stay at one again.

The carpet needs cleaning. The bathroom desperately needs a deep cleaning. There is a thick layer of dust and grim on the ledges and the floor. The hallways and elevator look banged up.

First I want to say we have had no problems with Holiday Inn until this trip. Second day in, they had to turn the water off to fix a problem, starting early morning until 3:00. No notification or communication upon check in. Apparently the employees were told to tell customers, but no one did, otherwise I would not had stayed there. Asked to talk to manager on staff of April 25th, and finally came out to address issue, however he got angry at me for asking why there was no notification or signs, his reply was in an angry tone, well my employees were suppose to tell you. No redolution. .

It was my first bad experience, but it was really bad:
- Bedroom was extremely humid and AC was not working properly. The sheets and pillows were very humid.
- Half of the bedroom lights were not working.
- Water was leaking from the bottom of the toilet.
- The isles of the Hotel were very dirty, full of debris of apparently construction works.
