Leisure travelers appreciate our hotel's convenient location and access to the city via I-26. Museum Mile, Fort Sumter, Rainbow Row and the historic district is a short drive. Charleston Southern University and Wannamaker Water Park is almost next-door. And while staying with us, enjoy our full hot breakfast, outdoor pool, brand new fitness room and business center.
For our business travelers, we are close to the Charleston Airport (CHS). Stayed here in the past and was ok. This time there was no hot water for showers in the morning, when I went down to the desk the employee said we have had issues for the past few days. Well, don't you think your guests should know this before you pay for the room??! If I had know I would have said thanks but no thanks and taking myself elsewhere.

This is truly the worst IHG hotel I've ever stayed at. Upon checking into my room the biggest, grossest, dinosaur looking cockroach I've ever seen was crawling around in the bathroom. I contacted the front desk and they said they could send someone up with bug spray. When i requested a different room they put me in a downgraded option. The carpet was so dirty i couldn't walk in my room without shoes. The shower leaked. The showerhead actually fell off when i tried to move it. The tub was stained with scratches. Everything felt so grimy and gross. It was truly disgusting and it didn't feel clean what so ever.
They also don't provide any water; you have to pay for it.

We definitely OVERPAID for a 2-night stay at this poor quality hotel.
-The hotel reception/concierge was not properly staffed.
-LOW quality and quantity of breakfast. For example, both my husband and mother described a chemical or "dishsoap" taste in their overcooked scrambled eggs.
-Shower/tub clogged in bathroom, did not drain properly, leaving residue and a dirty tub basin.
-Keurig coffee station in the room not stocked.
-The whole hotel was humid and smelled of chlorine.
-When we arrived at 6pm on a Friday, there were two women sitting right outside the back entrance smoking marijuana in their car and making the vestibule to get into the hotel reek.
-The hot tub/sauna was so foamy it looked like a bubble bath. This is often caused by a buildup of organic matter, imbalanced water chemistry, or dirty filters. In other words, filthy water.
-The kids pool was very cold and uncomfortable for my young children.

After a long day and getting stuck in a bad storm we decided to find a place to stay. Candlewood suites was close and very reasonable. We were given an accessible room on the first floor (118). The room had that "tried to cover the cigarette smoke" smell and it absolutely was not a queen sized bed. The nailed to the wall headboard was queen sized but the mattress was not.
Our neighbor's TV was very loud - like it was in our room. We were so exhausted we just went to sleep. Next morning, TV comes back on again and we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
I did mention that we did not have a queen size bed and was told we did (I have photos - we didn't). Also there couldn't be smoke in the room because it's forbidden...
I think the cleaning staff did the best they could given the circumstances.
Our neighbor's TV was very loud - like it was in our room. We were so exhausted we just went to sleep. Next morning, TV comes back on again and we couldn't get out of there fast enough.

The first impression is a lasting one; the entrance is dirty and littered with garbage, and check-in is unfriendly and unappreciative.
The room is cramped and has no space to hang your clothes, so we had to live out of our luggage for 3 days. There was no air conditioning, so the room was very warm and uncomfortable.
No phones in the rooms to contact the front desk, and when you approached them, they couldn't care less about your issues.
There were blood stains and other disgusting stains on the carpet.
The TV had little to no programs to watch, maybe 10 channels.
The shower pan would fill up as the drain was plugged, and you had to stop showering to let the water drain catch up to the amount in it; otherwise, it would run onto the floor and onto your clothes.

Even though I paid through Booking.com and showed them the receipt as well as from my American Express, they did not acknowledge it, and had me pay twice. Now I’m in a dispute with American Express. The hotel staff treated me like Trash, and even though the hotel was in a good place, their treatment was humiliating, even though I had shown them through every possible means that I had already paid. It was horrible.
