Yes, I recommend this property.
Gone is the, frankly tatty, Holiday inn in Southampton. Intstead there is the Voco. A place I have stayed many times has had a facelift and is all the better for it. No trout pout or botox but a fundamental rearrangement. The decor is much improved, in quiet marine tones. The dining area has been totally revamped and is now hospitable and the breakfast menu has got proper poached eggs on the menu. The rooms have been refurbished and the beds are a major improvement on the old - perhaps they are so new that they have yet to be broken in, But the very best thing is hidden in the room in plain view. I have aways resented being faced with Nescafe sachets first thing in the morning. Hip, hip hooray there admist an assortment of flavoured teas are coffee bags! This has been a rocking horse of mine for more years than I care to think about. I can now dismount

Holiday Inn Express® London - Limehouse hotel sits near the Thames River in a historic part of London close to major attractions. It's less than 5 minutes' walk from Limehouse DLR station , where trains travel to central London in about 20 minutes and to the O2 arena and London City Airport (LCY) in less than 30 minutes.
Whether you want to explore the Tower of London , shop at Westfield Stratford City or see a popular band at the O2 arena , you can get around easily via public transport. You're right next to London's East End , a vibrant area with shops, restaurants and art galleries, and Bethnal Green's V&A Museum of Childhood .
Business guests have a direct 30-minute link to the ExCeL centre , and the art deco Troxy theatre and concert venue is just seven minutes' walk away. Back at the hotel, two naturally lit meeting rooms can host up to 30 people, and you can have a working lunch catered . The Business Centre is open until midnight, and your delegates will appreciate the free Wi-Fi , available throughout the hotel.
Start the day with an Free Breakfast buffet of scrambled eggs, sausages, baked beans and continental items. An airy lobby bar serves drinks and a selection of sandwiches.

No, I do not recommend this property.
There are lessons to be learned from this stay. If you have to stay in Canary wharf your options are limited if your budget is tight. Second, If you have a work stay during Pride weekend then your options are even more limited.
The room was in a state when we arrived. There were tiles out in the ceiling and the air-con didn't work, leaving the room over heated and uncomfortable. The arrival of two fans circulated the overwarm air with great effect. The soap bottle in the shower was empty. Breakfast was uninspiring but plentiful and the coffee machine produced a decent cup. I do not understand why so many hotel chains think that sachets of Nescafe in the room is even close to acceptable. Please stop.

Yes, I recommend this property.
Staying three nights in a hotel requires a room that allows you to shut yourself off from the outside occasionally. Whilst small, some might say tiny, this room did that. Overlooking a central courtyard it was a little noisy at times but hey, this is London.
Plus points; the bed was comforatble enough to sleep well, its footprint was sensible, the walk-in shower worked well, breakfast was filling and the staff were attentive. There is underground parking for an added fee. You are very close to High Street Kensington tube station (beware the confusion of the District Line) and all the shops and restaurants of HSK.
Negatives; the hotel is a stop-over for many airlines so the lobby is often busy. Whilst they have a separate check in for aircrew the lobby is filled with uniforms and suitcases at all times of the day and night. The room is very small if you are not a tidy soul.
Pet peeve; how does any hotel chain justify providing foul tasting sachets of Nescafe in the rooms?

Yes, I recommend this property.
I have stayed here before, but this time was affected by COVID restrictions. It is easy to get to, the parking is good (£15 per 24h additional) and central Southampton is within easy walking distance. The room was a good size with a view over Southampton Water. The bathroom was functional and clean. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very attentive to keep your movements to a minimum.
Downside (there is always something); The bed is huge but not terribly comfortable - both of us had disrupted sleep.
Finally, and this is gripe I have with many hotels, Why is it thought that sachets of Nescafe provide an aceptable cup of coffee in the room?
