OK but Disappointing Stay

Stayed for 4 nights in July directly after lockdown was lifted. Whilst I understand that things are not back to normal within the hospitality industry, my overall experience was not great. 1. The breakfast situation was truly dire. 2. I am a Gold Elite Member and in my preferences I list "High Floor Room" yet I was placed on the 3rd floor. 3. I was not offered a free upgrade and the hotel was by no means at even 50% capacity.
Room was not cleaned the whole of our stay due to Covid restrictions, however, this was not explained to me at check-in or via any confirmation email. I also had to pay the full £14 per day parking charge despite having a Blue Badge for my disabled child. A gesture of goodwill by reducing the amount would have been acceptable. However, the very kind receptionist that checked me out was delightful and made up for the lack of Reception Staff throughout our 4 day stay.

The front desk staff member made my stay a little uncomfortable.
The first room 417 the AC was not working well. My husband called down and the lady did not believe him so she came up and changed the temperature. 15 minutes later it was still hot so she reluctantly gave us a room 213 I believe. The keycards did not work so my husband went down to the front desk. She did not believe him that the key card did not work. She came up to the room where my children and I were waiting in the hallway. I showed her that the keycard did not work and she said “oh” my husband said, “you did not believe me did you?” She said, “no, I did not believe you.”
She then let me know it did not work because it was a new room. I stayed on July 9th this was a birthday get away with our kids. Very disappointed in the staff. We stay here at least twice a year at the same hotel.

It was convenient to old town, walking to the many attractions was not bad. No pool (water was green and very unattractive), no housekeeping (the room was very clean at check-in), no ice, vending machines empty. With the room temp set at 75 at night, the room would get uncomfortably hot, then go to uncomfortably cold. The restaurant was closed (had to go the hotel next door for breakfast). The room and services were not worth the price to stay.

The Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt Airport - Raunheim hotel is a ten minute walk away from Raunheim main train station. International flights at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) can be reached in around 15 minutes. The Exhibition Centre of Frankfurt is around 30 minutes away by car. The cities of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden und Mainz are around 25 minutes away by car.

Modern and contemporary hotel in Ringsheim just one minute off the Highway A5 und 5 km away from Europa- Park Rust, the largest seasonal amusement park in the world, with breakfast and Wi-Fi included.

The Airport Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden (FKB) is approachable via Highway A5 North within 50 minutes. Several grocery stores and dining options are reachable within less than five minutes.
Due to the convenient location of the hotel, our guests can approach famous tourism destinations like the nature reserve Black Forest or Taubergießen within less than 40 minutes. Also, the popular cities of Freiburg, Straßburg and Colmar are close by. Ein schönes Hotel in guter Lage. Optimal für einen Zwischenstopp, wenn man auf der A5 unterwegs ist.
Corona bzw. die notwendigen Schutzmaßnahmen sind zwar überall plakatiert, aber deren Einhaltung wurde in der Zeit meines Aufenthaltes von einigen Gästen eher locker bis gar nicht beachtet.
