Holiday Inn Express® Hotel & Suites in Jacksonville, FL is only 3 mile from Mayport Naval Station, USCG Jacksonville Sector, Oceanfront Hanna Park, 10 minutes from the Mayo Clinic and Craig Municipal Airport. Our Holiday Inn Express® Hotel & Suites in Atlantic Beach is conveniently located 1 mile off I-10/Atlantic Blvd, 5 minutes from beaches, 7 miles University of North Florida, St. John Town Center, and 2 miles from Mayport Village, considered a fisherman's dream located on the St. Johns River. The best seafood restaurants, Morning Star Marina and Mayport Ferry to Huguenot Park/Amelia Island are located close to our hotel. We are only 10 miles from downtown Jacksonville TIAA Bank Field and 18 miles from the Jacksonville International Airport. Is housekeeping everyday not a thing anymore?

When we first got to the room it was very clean but for whatever reason our room was not cleaned any of the three days we were there which wouldn’t be a huge deal other than not having clean towels to use. I had to ask the front desk for more towels and was told that they were all in the dryer and when I asked for one hours later they still hadn’t been taken out of the dryer. I guess my biggest complaint is just that it seemed that no one was taking responsibility for the housekeeping of the hotel.

Several sections of ceiling had plaster or paint strips hanging from it. Room 122. Since hotel was far from filled, this room should not have been on the available list.
We were late arriving due to two hour accident delay on I81 in West Va. Since hotel was not busy, it was decided to close kitchen and dining room at 8 instead of 9. We got there right at 8 so chef graciously agreed to make us hamburgers which we appreciated but it was rushed and not what we had hoped for after an 8 plus hours drive from CT. Breakfast was fine.

Better than sleeping in the car

This is the second IHG hotel I've stayed in recently that was a major disappointment. I only booked it because of the promotions offered - I won't stay here again.
My issues: When I arrived there was no luggage rack available. Front desk clerk reported that there was only 1 for the entire hotel, and the previous guest had taken it - he wasn't interested in helping me find it - I went to every floor - no luck. I made 4 trips to my car and up to my room on the 4th floor to bring in my luggage and groceries. I called customer care to report this, they contacted management and I was told via a phone call to my guest that they couldn't help me - I was never contacted directly.
The "fully equipped" kitchen had exactly 1 spoon, no kitchen linens, and no sink stopper. I was eventually given 2 spoons and went to the desk for kitchen towels/dishcloth.
The outlets for electrical appliances were very difficult - they have some kind of a stopper that makes plugging anything in almost impossible. I went to the front desk to ask about this - the clerk said "yeah, they're weird".
The bathroom ceiling was peeling paint. The tub was chipped. The tub didn't drain correctly - I reported this and someone came to "fix" it - but it was no better afterward.
The gym isn't open.
The hotel is difficult to access unless you come in from Peach street - there is only one entrance, and getting to it from any other place is very round-about.

Despite having status and having stayed in a number of IHG hotels, I can't seem to get my hotel receipt emailed to me.

DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL THEY HAND OUT ROOM KEYS TO ANYONE

This location not only handed my room key to one person (the room was in my name only) but they gave 3 people my room key without even asking for identification. One was an ex that found out where my room was and they handed him a key no questions asked he just went up there and said he needed a key for 308 and they gave it to him. Needless to say all my belonging were taken. i call customer relations and i get nothing and then i speak with the property manager and she tells me i have to take my ex to court.. No reimbursement for my stay or the property which was taken out of my room. Which is the properties fault for not doing what there policy says, and moretheless endangered my life. So now im reaching out to a lawyer because all i wanted to be reimbursed for my stay or the stuff that was taken out of the room. I have not gotten any emails or phone calls from this company.

Skeleton crew and very limited amenities

I understand what Covid has done to the travel industry, but this hotel fell below others.
When I checked in around 10:30pm I was told no breakfast, even a bag with water with a granola bar etc, because they had only a skeleton crew.
My room had no coffee cups or creamer/sweetener for in the morning or an ice bucket. Also missing hand towels and a shower mat for the floor.
I went back downstairs to get the cups/creamer/ice bucket. All was available except they had no coffee creamer at all.
The carpets in the hallways and my room were in need of cleaning or replacement. There was hair in my bathroom sink and the tub faucet dripped.
On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable and I appreciated the shuttle from the airport.

The hotel was nice. Good Location. They just renovated the hotel but not all systems were 100%. I understand that there are construction issues that need to be sorted out after a complete overhaul. The staff was really nice and the room and customer service was excellent.

Comfortable Bed/ Awful Customer Service

The night staff who tried to say he was a manger made our weekend very stressful. He was very uncooperative, refused to give us any information when asked, unreliable, dishonest, made demeaning comments about other customers, smelled like a cigarette and was more concerned about smoking than being a decent person. He would disappear from the front desk for several minutes (20-40) minutes at a time. When you called her would say he was taking a bathroom break.
