My husband was not able to shower due to sloped to middle bathtub

The microwave and refrigerator were in the bathroom area. This along with broken tile in the bathroom area and the shower feeling unsafe made an otherwise nice room slightly below average. All other amenities were great and other areas were acceptable and nice.

Family reservation gone wrong

I reserved a 2 bed queen suite with pull out couch for a family of 5 and got a 1 bed queen suite with pull out couch. The hotel had no rooms available to move us and pretty much told us to deal with it or pay for another 1 bed queen suite. My daughter ended up having to sleep on the floor.

No Housekeeping

I traveled to Livermore on business. I don't travel to this area often, so I chose the Holiday Inn Express in Livermore because they're usually solid places to stay.
My main complaint is that no housekeeping was provided during my three-night stay. I get that there might be staffing shortages... but in that case, tell me when I check in that no housekeeping will be provided.
When I checked out, no one was around the front desk, so I just dropped my key off and left. This was about 7:45 AM, a time I would expect the front desk to be staffed.
Otherwise, the stay was fine. Breakfast was the usual HI Express fare. The property was clean enough.

Welcome to the NEWLY RENOVATED Holiday Inn Express Novi. We are less than 1 mile from the Twelve Oaks Mall and centrally located in between Novi, Farmington Hills, and Wixom corporate companies. We welcome corporate travelers visiting Harman, Toyota, Nissan, Akebono, Daifuku Webb, and many more. We also welcome many traveling teams attending the Novi Ice Arena, Total sports, and Walled Lake Northern High school for Dance competitions.
12 Oaks Mall, Fountain Walk Entertainment Plaza, Bay pointe Golf Club, Glen Oaks Golf Club and many other locations in Novi, Farmington Hills, Wixom, and Livonia. The hotel is just minutes away from corporate complexes on Cabot Drive, Country Club Drive and Hills tech Drive.
All of our accommodations offer newly renovated spaces. We also offer free Fiber Optic Wi-Fi or hardwire connections. 24-hour fitness center or go for a swim in our indoor heated pool. Each room is equipped with a Single King bed or two Queen beds, mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee makers.

Let me preface this review by telling you I am a Diamond Elite member who sleeps on a Holiday Inn pillow more than my own. I have stayed at hundreds of Holiday Inns across the United States and the difference between a great one and a below average hotel comes down to the people who work there. First, I want to talk about the great things about this hotel. The best thing about this hotel is Charmaine. She is the breakfast preparer and attendant. She is the definition of great customer service.....above & beyond. The other great thing about this hotel is the fresh remodel and clean rooms. Now for the BAD. I deal with lots of front desk people and I found my least favorite at this hotel.....LAURA. I do not know her personal story but what I do know is she probably should not be in customer service. I will not go into all the details of our interaction, but Laura should probably not be the first person the customer meets. Let me put it this way, I will be back in town shortly and I will not be staying at this facility because of Laura....which is sad because it is not a bad hotel.....other than Laura.

Room dirty and staff unaccommodating

I checked in for a 1 night stay during a dance convention and upon entry into the room, I noticed the overhead entry light was out. I had to use the light from the bathroom to see into the room and make way to the phone.
Once I turned on the light over the phone I saw dirt and grime all along the desk over hang and dirt and someone's earring back on the carpet at my feet.

Requested a new room to no avail. Front desk said they had no other rooms at that price point and would not give me the only other room there that was only $25 more per night. They did offer a credit of $25 and so I asked to jus tuse that to move rooms. The front desk person said she did not have authority to do so and the 'manager' was not on site.
Again, it was 10 pm and attendees from a very busy dance convention was booking out the other hotels or they required 2 nights stay so I was stuck.
I was unable to get comfortable, or sleep, there was also a moldy smell to the room.
And upon rising in the morning, we had to prop the main door open to get light from the hall to use the only other mirror in the room as my dance daughter was getting ready in the bathroom. Mond you this is at 6:30 am as we had to be back at the dance competition at 7 am.
This experience has been very disappointing and not what I've come to expect from Holiday Inn.

Pros : comy king bed, perfect location for Jaquith park and softball games. Pretty good breakfast with real food options.
Cons: sleeper sofa was so awful that we had to go purchase an air mattress. Not ideal considering what we paid for one night.
