We're the Best Among Picayune, Mississippi Hotels
Ideally located along I-59 at exit 4, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Picayune is a great home base for area travelers since it's close to Slidell and a short drive from New Orleans, Hattiesburg, and the gulf coast. Picayune, Mississippi offers our hotel's patrons fascinating natural attractions, close proximity to area businesses and easy access to Stennis International Airport (HSA) and Amtrak. Insensitive and Mean Customer Service

We were on a road trip from Texas, and arrived late Saturday night at the hotel, and checked in on a platinum elite loyalty member status. That midnight was the spring day light saving adjustment that resulted in us losing an hour of sleep. I reached out to the front desk that morning to request for a late check-out, but to my dismay, I was denied any form of late check-out, not even for 1 hour. When I requested to talk to the manager, I was told there was none on duty. This completely ruined our stay because we had to put our things together in a rush to leave by the check-out time to continue our road trip. It was shocking and disappointing because this is why you build loyalty and choose to stay there because of such benefits that are needful, and to be denied such a need due to meanness, greed and insensitivity is appalling. This hotel was literally empty, located in a remote town along the highway; and this had nothing to do with capacity but just wickedness. I have filed a complaint with IHG guest service and requested this hotel be removed from the loyalty list since they do not offer any benefit for loyal members.

Noisy and pore condition

At checkin staff said upper floors might be noisy due to youth basketball players so gave us 107. Kids were running down first floor alls and loud well into night. Shower door frame is rotted out and moldy. Toilet low, old style and rocked when sitting on it. Bath door would not close.

Nice hotel

I had a great check-in experience at the hotel, and the staff at the front desk was very kind. I had spoken with the night audit team the night before and arranged a late check-out for 1 p.m. The reason I asked for a late check-out was because I planned to go to church with my mom, and I needed a place for my sister and my service dog to stay during that time.
However, when I went to the front desk the following morning to confirm I wouldn’t be checking out yet, the staff member on duty told me I should have already checked out by 11 a.m., even though it was only 11:44 a.m. He also mentioned in a rude tone that the latest I could check out was 12 p.m.
This situation was frustrating, especially since I had already been promised a late check-out. I wanted to bring this up because the lack of consistency and communication between the staff members created unnecessary confusion and discomfort.

Unsafe stay

The website and the physical form you sign at the desk when you arrive state there is parking. There is not.
They say they are ada compliant. They are not. The ramp is not up to code, the shower and halls in the room are not wide enough for a wheelchair in the ada room.
The floor was warped so badly it’s like a fun house. I slipped multiple times and even fell. I had a marble and it was like a little Tony Hawk rolling around the peaks and valleys of the floor. There was even a floorboard sticking up with a sharp edge that looked like a skate ramp. This is a hazard and will result in serious injury.
The back of the kitchen cabinet had fallen out and was just propped on the counter. Thick dust in the kitchen cabinet where dishes and tea are kept. The thermostat was busted. Windows not properly sealed so it was freezing. I had it set to 80 and I was freezing.
Mystery stains everywhere including a particularly suspicious one on the large chair in the room.
There were greasy marks on the headboards. Gunk on chairs, walls, and pictures. Broken lamp too and picture frame too.

This was supposed to be the upgrade from the first ada room which was a non-smoking room that smelled like a dispensary the second you walk through the door.
The closest taking garage ($32/night) has a dark unlit stairwell that supposedly you unlock with a keycard but it’s WIDE open. It doesn’t feel safe. I went to find security to see if I could park there; it’s a huge dark empty lot. I ended up having to park over a block away which for able bodied people may be fine but that garage only has stairs and is a very unevenly paved street with a closed sidewalk meaning I had to walk in traffic.
Again: the staff at the desk were doing their best and were very kind. They can only do so much though.
I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this is not ok and it cost me a lot to stay here and this is not what I paid for. I am a nurse and I can attest this is not a safe room especially for one that is supposed to be for the disabled. Please do better.

We were here for a soccer tournament which was booked last fall and they probably thought the hotel would be finished in time. It definitely was not. Some of our team had renovated rooms and some didn’t. Ours was definitely the latter. Not sure why the hotel would sign up as a partner for this tournament if they knew a renovation would be in process. Even my 12 year old was grossed out. Staff was nice and apologetic.

The staff was friendly, but the beds were not very comfortable, the tiny bathroom (shower and toilet) were old and need cleaning and updating, and the continental breakfast left something to be desired.

Nice hotel but bad policies

This hotel is very nice and food as well. However, they decided to allow truckers to park in their parking lots and sleep in their trucks, have parties and unwelcome visitors. Staff stated we could change our room after they had assigned it knowing these truckers would be outside the window. They said also they would tell them to quiet down. What hotel allows this? None I’ve encountered. The morning staff reiterated we could have changed rooms. Really? Unpack, settle in and then we should move? Never again.
