Clean and Comfortable Basic Hotel

A comfy bed, in a clean room. Staff were a little unhelpful and the microwave didn't work. Great location, safe, near shops and Starbucks.

A little disappointed

We arrived at the Mt. Airy property about noon and asked for an early check in. We were told the room wasn't ready but she would call us. No call was received but we returned about 2:45 pm and our room had just become available 2 minutes before! We were aware that renovations were underway and were told our room was "new." The room was fine - same decor as our previous night in Lexington, SC. We did ask housekeeping for regular sized soft pillows as the King size pillows are TERRIBLE.

Our overall impression is that the hotel is "shop worn." The elevator wasn't clean and the lobby seemed tired. We did not eat breakfast here for that reason.

Perhaps when renovations are completed, the appearance will improve.

Holiday Inn Express Bloomington West

The Holiday Inn Express Bloomington West hotel is conveniently located off I-55 and I-74 and in close proximity to many area businesses such as Grossinger Motors, State Farm, Shirk Center, Asmark Institute-Agri Center and Rivian Automotive. Also located near our hotel is Heartland Community College, Illinois State & Illinois Wesleyan Universities. We are just a few minutes from the Bloomington Normal-Central Illinois Regional Airport (BMI) and the Amtrak train station. Bloomington was recently voted one of the five best places in America to golf, as it offers renowned courses such as the Den at Fox Creek and Prairie Vista Golf Course, both within five minutes of our hotel. We are a short drive from Mackinaw Winery as well as Sunset Lake Vineyards and Winery. Families will enjoy our close proximity to various fun attractions for the including Children's Discovery Museum, Miller Park Zoo, Trampoline Parks, Escape Rooms, Virtual Reality Arena and Water Parks. While with us, enjoy our indoor heated pool and whirlpool, our complimentary limited hot breakfast buffet, blazing fast free WiFi as well as our numerous local favorite restaurants!

old hotel

Thanks to getting there before the cleaning crew left we were able to right a situation which definitely would have made us pack up and leave. After turning down the bed we found a hair in it the was not from someones head. We had them strip the bed and put new sheets on right away. We had family to visit in the area so we did not spend much time in the hotel which was a good thing as it is very dated. Upon leaving the next morning I did eat the breakfast but it was not like other ihgs because the juice was not out of a machine instead it was hand poured from a pitcher which I am not a fan of. Also it just wasn't like other stays with hot cinnamon rolls which is what I usually eat. I don't usually judge a hotel by its reviews but I will start now. This was a one and done hotel for me.

No parking available

Booked this hotel before and after a 1 week trip south to take advantage of the free 7 day parking available. However, we arrived and there was absolutely no parking available. We had to park on the street during our stay and then had to park at the airport for the trip. No apologies or offers from the reception. Will never stay there again.

Never Again

This is one of the worst experiences I've had at a hotel. The rooms are outdated, broken tile in the bathroom.
The old school air conditioning on the floor is extremely noisy. Nasty stained sheets. We booked the king suite and they gave us a queen mini suite and then had the nerve to argue saying I didn't book a king suite when I had the confirmation that stated King suite!
So no customer service skills. We requested a microwave that we never received. Then the toilet doesn't work. Never. Again.

Would not recommend this property

Have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express that was this bad needs a lot of work and the breakfast bar needs to be looked at I could understand 1 bad day but 2 in a row there's and issue. The room only had 1 place to sit no desk chair or desk lamp, 1 bedside light was not working, lotion bottle in bathroom was empty, had to go down to desk and get wash cloths that were not replaced when room was made up.

Clean but showing it’s age

I was happy to find an affordable hotel option in the Austin area, being a first-time visitor. It turns out you get what you pay for. This hotel wasn’t one that I felt was a good place to hang out and relax after 8 hours on the road. My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing soak in the hot tub,but, alas, it was not working. The pool area looked rusty and run-down. The ice machine on our floor was broken. The furnishings in our room were worn and the wooden headboard was smeared and scratched. The room had an odor that reminded me of a Goodwill store - stale. That said, the room looked like it had been cleaned, and the bathroom was clean as well. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast area was clean and well attended. I could tell they tried, but this property is not one I would recommend. The location wasn’t ideal, but it would be fine if not for the many downsides of this hotel.
