I normally stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chengdu, which is amazing! However, that was unavailable, so I chose this one as it seemed centrally located.
When I arrived, they had some special event going on, so that lobby was incredibly crowded with stalls and people. Very noisy and chaotic.
The staff checking me in were okay, but about 15 minutes after getting to my room, someone showed up at my door demanding that I pay for the hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel! I told them my colleague ordered a DiDi for me, so I did not take the hotel shuttle. They refused to leave until I paid (CNY750!). I called my colleague, who then talked to the hotel staff. After about 15 minutes of arguing, they finally left to check. What happened? They got the wrong room number! Did they ever apologize to me? No. I even saw the guy in the lift that evening, and he avoided even looking at me. I was shocked.
I then went to the club lounge for dinner and drinks. I prefer whisky, and they had a nice selection on their menu. But they were out of EVERY ONE! They did have Jack Daniels, but they said I have to pay for that one. Sigh. So, I just have beer. The food options were not good, so I ate dinner outside instead.
The room was old and cramped. The bathroom was also not well-maintained. The bed was old and uncomfortable. The only saving grace for this hotel is that it is within walking distance to many restaurants and shopping malls.

Problems with the air-conditioning system and smelly toilet bowl. Staff gave the same answer (it occurred in another IHG hotel we stayed in Shanghai): because one guest complained was cold, so they switched to heat. Hence, we could not adjust the "cool" function in our individual room and had to contend with the central heating air that came out of the air system constantly.
The toilet bowl gave out a constant foul smell. The housekeeper tried to clean the air but after a while the foul smell surfaced again.
The hotel's location was far from Hangzhou and was not within a walking distance of a train station. We liked the heated swimming pool which was one of the reasons why we chose the hotel.
The Thai restaurant served well cooked dishes and the male chef that served us in the noodles section during breakfast time was friendly too. But we encountered an arrogant looking hotel male executive staff who ate there. It would be nice if the staff greeted the hotel's guests enthusiastically as much as they paid utmost attention to his breakfast needs and comfort.

We do like the design of the hotel: it is indeed unique among all the IC hotels we've ever stayed. The night light and fountain show in the hotel was impressive. Definitely deserve a second visit. The lounge was nice and the staff members are professional.

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times since 2023, and I am generally satisfied with everything: the rates, the rooms, the service, security, and access to transportation and shopping. However, I would like to see improvements in the free breakfast buffet. The selection lacks variety, as the dishes have remained the same over the years. Items such as yogurt and fruit have disappeared, there is no cheese available, and they only offer two types of bread. Overall, considering it’s Hong Kong, this hotel represents great value.

First, the staff are very polite and helpful, but the hotel is too old. The wooden flooring in my room was broken, loose, and dirty. When stepping on it, you could hear cracking sounds and feel the floor bouncing. The walls, furniture, and facilities in the room were very old — they looked like they were more than 20 years old. The hair dryer was not easy to use, and the breakfast didn’t taste good. The location is okay.
