Yes, I recommend this property.
I am a regular at this hotel. If you are reading this review to decide whether to stay here I strongly recommend you give it a try. You can't beat the location and the view. The rooms could use some updates in terms of style, but the staff make up for it. The breakfast buffet is realy good, although it was a bit too crowded this time around. As a Diamond Elite Ambassador member, I expected a bit more benefits in this new IHG loyalty program, but I received the same as before as Platinum Ambassador. The room upgrade was not much I believe, just a higher floor (now called Premium). Since I pre-paid breakfast (since I had booked before the new program started) I could not take advantage of the free breakfast. I did get the usual 20 USD discount, and of course the late checkout, although all these were Ambassador benefits, so I am not sure how being in the top tier added to it. I definitely look forward to returning again. The staff are super kind and helpful which will make your stay really memorable.

Yes, I recommend this property.
We arrived a little after 2 pm and had to wait until after 5 pm to be able to access the room. We booked the Corner Suite for a week and I requested a high floor. Upon checking, it turned out that we were given the lowest level Corner Suite (7th floor) which faced the air conditioning units on both sides. I requested a room change and eventually we were offered the same type of room on the 10th floor. It took a really long time for them to deliver the luggages. There was not much appreciation of my loyalty as a Spire Ambassador. I recall having plenty of water in the room and the late checkout. I don't think we received anything else, or at least we were not told anything else was availble to us. I usually get nicer treatment in other IC hotels. I found it really bizarre that they asked for payment for the entire stay up front. I respectfully declined, but I was asked again half way through our stay whether I wanted to settle my bill since it was a high balance. It was really unusual. The room itself was nice and spacious. The coffee machine barely worked (drip coffee only...). Breakfast was OK, as well as the food you could order pool side. The gym was adequate but not outstanding. It was too bad the club lounge was only open 6-8 pm. I wish they had it open for breakfast and during the day for soft drinks and espresso. The lady working there was wonderful, probably the best employee experience. Overall, we were happy that we stayed there. If you adjust your expectations a bit and relax, it is a good choice to stay in Cartagena.

Top of the bucket list checked with a perfect stay in paradise
By

Yes, I recommend this property.
This resort had been on top of my bucket list for a while now and this dream trip finally happened over the holidays. In sum, it was everything we imagined and more. I had a rather complicated booking, stitching together an Ambassador Weekend Night certificate stay, a five-day stretch on a special rate, and three extra days on points. The hotel staff was very accommodating and they let us remain in the upgraded villa for the entire stay. The Sapphire level villas have Mt. Otemanu view, albeit not unobstructed, which we actually liked as these overwater bungalows give the soul to the place. The villa was actually more spacious that we had thought, in a pristine condition with ample amenities. The property is simply beautiful and the view breathtaking. What made our stay outstanding was the individual attention from staff – everybody seemed to know us by name and our every need was attended to. The employees are fully engaged; they seemed to enjoy their jobs truly. They were also wonderful to children – the setup makes the resort suitable for both couples who seek privacy and families with children. We also appreciated the various events like Santa’s arrival to the resort and the NYE celebrations, making the winter holidays unique in this tropical paradise. It must be said that it is an expensive resort, especially factoring in food and the mandatory New Year's Eve buffet, but this was a special trip and we were prepared to spend above our comfort zone. This is the best IC hotel I have ever stayed at. If I were pressed to suggest improvements, I could only come up with small ones like automatically providing cream or milk daily for the Nespresso coffee in the room (although we had to ask every day it was promptly provided), or the ability to stream video to the TV – not that one wants to spend too much time watching TV – but it would have been good for our child in the evenings. You will not be disappointed at this resort and I am sure we will return. Really appreciated everything from the staff we interacted with the most – they were wonderful. Thank you for making our stay truly memorable.

Very pleasant stay

Yes, I recommend this property.
We stayed in this hotel for 4 days before our trip to Bora Bora and I was very pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed most aspects of our stay. We arrived early in the morning and not unexpectedly our room was not quite ready. However, we had access to a day room which was really needed after the long overnight flight. I was told that I would get an email when the room was ready. I never actually received the email, so I was glad I checked with the front desk some time later. Due to our status and Ambassador membership we were upgraded to a Superior Ocean View room that made all the difference for us. It was much appreciated. The room had a fridge which was great since we did not have the breakfast buffet included (we’re not big breakfast eaters) but we need our morning yoghurt. The only thing I missed was an Nespresso machine which I think should come with the Superior rooms. When I inquired at the front desk I was told I just need to ask for it. So I did. Then my wife got a call informing her that it cost five “hundred” to rent it. I called back later to confirm and the lady also told me it was five “hundred”. I said OK since ~5 USD was a nominal fee for the machine - we had the capsules. When they delivered the machine it turned out it was five “thousand” including a box of capsules. I turned it down since ~50 USD was way too much rental fee for the remaining two days. Interestingly, the lady insisted she said “thousand”… Anyway, the property is really nice and well maintained. The pools are great; one is long enough for serious swimming. The other one is perfect for chilling by the wet bar. Then there is the lagoon with fish if you want snorkeling. The restaurant was OK; the food also OK but not overly memorable. The gym was great and well equipped. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay and I am glad we did not just use the hotel for an overnight stay before the onward flight which many people seemed to do. I would return here without hesitation.

Yes, I recommend this property.
I was finally able to use my points for an award stay here at the Intercontinental Budapest. Everything was great. The hotel felt empty due to the entry restrictions for tourists to Hungary. Staff was kind and attentive as always. I tried the new Lebanese restaurant which was a nice experience. And of course you can't beat the view from this hotel.

Nice room and amenities but not full IC level
By

After having stayed at many Intercontinental hotels around the world we were curious to experience an IC-affiliated resort hotel. The rooms were nice and spacious. We were "upgraded" to the next tier which I suspect meant a higher floor as the rooms were the same. The pool deck was really nice and the gym well equipped. COVID safety measures were observed throughout. Yet the hotel fell short of what we are used to in Intercontinental hotels as Platinum (and former Spire) Ambassador members. Firstly, there were no complimentary bottles of water in the room (a standard Ambassador benefit). When I mentioned this at the front desk they said I should have been offered it at check-in. We were told that we needed to ask for it every time at the front desk - they would not replenish it. There was no Nespresso coffee maker in the room. When I inquired why, I was told it was a fire hazard, an explanation I found absurd. When I called room service for two champagne glasses I was informed it had a charge or ~11 USD. I found it ridiculous but agreed; however, the glasses were never delivered. When I mentioned this to the manager the next day, he apologized and promised to have it sent up right away. It never happened. (He did give $30 off our room service bill though for the inconveniences.) The $20 credit benefit could only be used in the bar in the middle of the gambling floor, not at the bar by the pool. Consequently we were not able to use it as our daughter was not allowed in the gambling area. Grab-n-go breakfast was substandard. It usually had a mini-bagel, boiled egg, some grapes and a small piece of carrot cake or muffin, plus coffee. When I also asked for water at pickup they even said I was only supposed to get either coffee or water! Overall, we had a good time and the hotel was surely a unique experience that we liked. However, they would need to up their game for IHG members as well in terms of offering the same benefits and the feeling of appreciation for their loyalty, not only to their own Prestige members, understanding though that this hotel obviously caters for a different clientele.

This was our first hotel stay during the pandemic. Since this is my favorite hotel in Hungary I really wanted to start our vacation here. We felt that the health safety precautions taken by the hotel and its staff were adequate. I especially appreciated how they adapted their famous breakfast buffet without compromising the experience. We enjoyed the choice of the full menu on the terrace with table service and a perfect view.

We have just arrived back from a fantastic stay in Intercontinental Fiji. The hotel did a great job balancing the experience for both couples and families with children. The Club benefits were especially great. Occasionally, the Club pool turns into a family pool which I would encourage the hotel to manage a bit better, but overall it was OK. Also, I have some suggestions on how to improve the services offered by Planet Trekkers if management is interested. Staff were fantastic; they really made us feel at home away from home. We are already planning our return to the hotel! Vinaka!

This was not our first stay in this hotel and I am grateful we returned. This was the first night of our vacation - also my wife's birthday - and IC Budapest delivered the experience we were looking for. Mr. T. J. at reception was especially helpful - his professionalism and attention was much appreciated. We had a wonderful view from the room, and the late checkout granted as one Ambassador privilege ensured that we could take full advantage of what the hotel has to offer: a rich leisurely breakfast with a view on the terrace, a visit to the spa/gym, and a nice walk around the hotel without having to rush to pack and leave.

Yes, I recommend this property.
It was a last minute decision to spend three days in Cancun before going to another resort near Playa del Carmen. We naturally opted for the Intercontinental Presidente. The building itself does not impress, but the property inside is very nice, well maintained and appointed. We were upgraded to an Ocean View Club Deluxe Suite which is not a suite by any measure but it has a gorgeous view from the private balcony, and the room itself is modern. Staff were attentive and kind. The club was OK. The breakfast choices were decent but not outstanding; the evening hors d'oeuvre selection and drink choices were very good. The club had an outside terrace that overlooked the pool area - a nice place to hang out. The two pools were great, as well as the beach area. Our daughter very much enjoyed the kids' club. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We interacted with two gentlemen at the concierge area. One of them was fantastic; the other was was equally accommodating, but he always pointed out if any exceptions were made (like having to replace one of our misplaced card keys) which felt a bit unnecessary. Overall, we liked this hotel and do recommend it.
