The location is wonderful on the water. You don’t have to get in your car if you are doing Old Town, you can walk to many restaurants and entertainment around the hotel.
The lighting is very low lighting in the room and bathrooms. Not ideal for women to do there makeup and hair. The lighting was really the only issue I had with my experience.

Comfortable bed, dirty floor

The floor in my room clearly hadn't been vacuumed - visible crumbs, debris, hair. The front desk manager did offer to have it vacuumed but it was late when I arrived and I didn't want to be disrupted. The bed seemed clean though and was comfortable.

Close to the best of downtown San Diego!
Welcome to the Holiday Inn Express San Diego Downtown Hotel! Our hotel is clean and safe and every room has a mini fridge. We are near Balboa Naval Hospital and Sharp Hospital.
Our downtown San Diego hotel is a prime location for several popular San Diego attractions and bustling nightlife. We are a short walk from Petco Park (home of the Padres ), Maritime Museum of San Diego, Balboa Park, USS Midway, Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, the New Children’s Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
We offer free Wi-Fi to all of our guests to keep you connected with your family, friends, and work while you are away from home.

Not free parking! Only limited street parking.

I was really disappointed to find out, parking was $28 a day in the parking garage that the hotel is attached to. The parking garage, you have to use your room key to enter and exit. Not a big deal at all. However, the website states "Free Parking" which is limited and only referring to street parking that is not safe at all. Other than the parking expense, the rooms are very clean with comfy beds.

Very disappointed

I won't stay at this location again. This is the second bad experience that I've had. First of all, the room was not very clean. The refrigerator was filthy and there was dirty bowls on the shelf and in the dishwasher. I told the desk and they agreed to clean the bowls and gave me dishwasher detergent to run the dishwasher. The dishes didn't even come clean after running it twice. That means they had to have been sitting there for awhile. Also, there was no surface light above the stove to cook with. We went to the desk and there was no maintenance person to come and change it. They offered to change my room to the second floor; but this was after we already brought in all of our luggage. The last time I stayed here; the room was dirty and there was roaches. I informed the desk of this also. As a loyal IHG customer; I have to say I was very displeased with this hotel. I would recommend some inspections to make sure things are taken care of before a room is rented out.

This hotel is in desperate need of repair and staff upgrades. No continental breakfast. Charged for valet parking with no other options given. Room and Jacuzzi tub were dirty. Overall a very disappointing experience.

The single elevator was always dirty, to the point that even the buttons you push for the floors were sticky with debris.
The gym floor and equipment was dirty and seemed never have been cleaned. Towels were a rare commodity in the Gym. The wipe container was dead empty. When I brough that to the attention of the main desk, they did replace it.
We asked if they cleaned the rooms daily or not. We were told no, but they would provide fresh towels and take away the trash. That happened only once during our stay.
no this my bill did not arrive until 4/24 when I checked out on 4/20.
We did our part, pay for three nights of what we thought would be a good stay. Why should we have to pay for this type of service

Room had mold and dirty in it. Was quoted one price on reservation day and charged much more. Only room left we were told when checking in. Had to take because of personal reasons.

Disappointed not to have the full amenities that were advertised. On arrival questioned why there was no gym available. Receptionist didn't seem to care. First ihg I arrived at where level of membership wasn't mentioned. No option for welcome drink or point's.

This location was not what it I feel OHG normally offers. My experience was awful. From the smoke filled hallway to the clogged bathroom to the lack of welcome details. Would not return.
