Arrived at 4pm and was yold room wasn't ready yet even though check in is 3pm. Waited 30 minutes for room to finally be ready. We had to keep checking with the desk for them to get the room done.
Upon entering room checked the bathroom counter which had so.e type of a sticky substance in multiple areas. Notified desk. First house keeper they sent didn't clean counter. Notified front desk a second time as we went to dinner. Gone for 2.5 hours and house keeping showed up after we got back. This time it was properly cleaned.
The only thing offered for our inconvenience at check in was a later check out which we couldn't use as we had a set schedule.
Won't stay at a Holiday Inn again....

Holiday Inn Express is always a good value and great rooms. Nit this time. It was rated a 2 star hotel and I see why. Part of the room was not vacuumed. The TV didn't work. The tub was slippery and had rust on it. Would not stay here again.

Great stay

The stay was great and the desk clerk handled my family well when they were being a little difficult and overwhelming. The only downside to this stay was the bartender Amy at the bar connected. She was nice and friendly at the start and started acting rude towards the end. I had taken two sips out of my drink when this guy wedges himself in between me and the person next to me (instead of just going to another spot where there was more room) and started talking to the bartender. We were literally skin to skin even though there was an empty seat a couple of stools down. It seemed like he was a regular from the way they were conversing. My drink was originally in the middle but immediately moved it to the side so I could keep an eye on it. I continued to talk with my family and as soon as I turned my head a little more his hand motioned over my drink. I looked at him and before I could say anything he said “I didn’t drug you or anything there was just a fly.” I didn’t see a fly at all so when the guy left I explained what happened and she was obviously very irritated when I asked if she could make a fresh drink because nowadays you can never be too careful. She first asked what guy and claimed there was no guy next to me until my family chimed in and she suddenly remembered who the guy was and waved it off saying he wouldn’t do anything like that. She got another attitude and asked why we weren’t watching the drink and I told her I was and that’s why I wanted a new one. She eventually gave me a new one in a cup with a lid, but the rest of the night her attitude with us was short and mean compared to the other people at the bar. Also caught that same guy walking behind us after we left the bar and went to walk around outside and he was at the door when we came back. Could’ve just been a coincidence but it didn’t sit well.

The check-in and check-out experience was excellent. I must of had a remodeled room (it was very nice except the very small television) as they have notification they are remodeling. Great proerty and staff.

The Holiday Inn Downtown Duluth is a convenient destination. Every stay (multiple) has been good, amenities are good, the beds are very comfortable. The only improvement would be to have charging ports for phones like the newer Express hotels have.
All in all, we enjoy our time there.

This hotel was the perfect place to stay for a night in downtown Grand rapids. It is located close to many things and if not within walking distance there is a shuttle service available. The hotel is clean and safe. The staff were extremely wonderful and beyond helpful.

Bad experience! Booked and paid for a 2 bed suite with sofa bed and received a 1 bed room instead. Hotel staff did not care about the accommodation mistake, nor tried to resolve the issue! I do not recommend this hotel!

Needs Upgrades but Good for the Price

There are several things that need upgrading at this location, but the customer service staff were friendly and helpful. The service and maintenance staff were not. I had to ask 4 times to have 1 lightbulb replaced. My room also had several water stains from apparent damage to the structure. This was okay for a business trip, but had I paid for this place myself, it would've been a bigger issue.

Staff was not welcoming at all. I spoke several times, and received NO response. Very disappointing. My last interaction during bayou classic was amazing. Surprisingly, the same young lady checked me while she was in training. I even reminded her of it. She just gave me a blank stare.
My check out was much worse. Very short and off putting. Not very helpful. And would not speak back.
I love the hotel, but I’ll be taking my business elsewhere whenever I return to DTNO.
My toilet didn’t flush and my shower head was malfunctioning. Room 1817.

It’s was nice and quite great service. Only thing that sucks is for the price of the room you would think they have comp breakfast they dont. They charge $21 dollars per person which I only see as a bad thing with this location
