Hi Lauren,
As you have publicly stated this was a ‘smoking charge’, I thought I would post another comment to clear the facts since you have now ignored all of my emails and phone call follow ups where I have politely challenged the argument of which the hotel has changed the story multiple times. I do not smoke, neither does my partner, we never have and never will. I have heart problems mixed with hypertension which I take multiple medications for, my partner has asthma and is on strong inhalers. Especially for my partner, if they were around smoke it would flare up and result in a hospital admission. The room did not smell of smoke and I didn’t make any complaints to reception upon check-out of this and during my stay I had no complaints from staff regarding any sort of imaginary smells. I was told you would assist me with the carpet issue (which I have also been blamed for saying it was due to a bath leak from above when in fact the bathroom floor was dry, let’s be real, and we did not use the bath). Upon checking out I was told everything was going to be fine but since then the stress of dealing with this hotel which constantly changes their story, at first saying the £150 charge was due to water damage being unable to sell the room, then saying it was due to smoking in the room. Nothing adds up because if it was a bath leak the room would have flooded throughout (weird to say that when the bathroom was dry), if we ‘smoked’ then the fire alarm would sound? We arrived late that night to go to bed and checked out a few hours later with no real time to use the rooms facilities. Very disappointing that you can reply on a public forum and not to my personal emails because you want to hotel to have a good image for further business from other customers. Also, it’s not good practice to charge someone’s card without any notification and then expect the customer to call and ask what the charges are for, despite me asking for an invoice for this for days on end, the hotel cannot give me one for some reason. When I do request an invoice I get a reply of one from the original room charge with no extra fees added on. Fraudulent to say the least.
I’m sorry it’s come to a public forum for me to express my frustration with the way we have been treated, but the hotel has no care for it’s clientele and my suspicions is that because we are relatively young, they think we won’t challenge problems.
It could have been different if my request for a quick chat was accepted and not ignored.
Luckily, I am financially fortunate enough to ‘take it on the chin and learn’, however for others this might not be the case and a nice break away for others may result in some difficulties.

Worst Experience in the IHG chain

Stayed here as really one of two options for me in Rayong and boy did I choose wrong,front desk staff are the most unpleasant staff members I have met in my entire experience in the IHG group,
Big pity as the housekeeping staff are excellent and the rooms nice and clean.not greeted as a diamond elite member on check in, but given a sheet that showed my benefits which included 2 items of laundry per day but on check out given a bill for laundry and told “ no we don’t offer free laundry” very abrupt no explanation or anything, I then advised before leaving that my review what not be favourable and the reply was “ thank you very much sir”
Will never stay here again, in fact probably stay in Pattaya which is an hour away from Rayong and my customer base but travelling is better than staying in a place where you feel like you are not welcome

Staff exceptional- rest was ok

The front desk staff here were so kind, helpful, and friendly. Kudos for their customer service.
Breakfast was typical fare. Workout room had what you needed.
Room was good. Nothing great but standard.
We had no issues while there. It was about 20 minutes from everything we were doing, so not too far away, but also not really close to anything either.

Just Eh

After a long drive my wife and I madd reservations here. We’re IHG Members. Will arrive around 8:30 or 9 o’clock in the evening and we’re immediately greeted by what was clearly and annoyed desk clerk. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of my stay. After traveling for eight hours, I don’t want to meet somebody who’s grumpy and says minimal things to you. Absolutely not greeted properly. The next morning the breakfast was a standard breakfast nothing special however when we checked out, there was a very pleasant lady saying goodbye to us. That’s what I’ve come to expect not what I had the night before. It definitely makes me question whether I would stay there again

Holiday Inn® Leeds - Garforth hotel is 15 minutes drive from Leeds city centre. There's free parking, and Garforth Station, a mile and a half away, has direct lines to Leeds, York and Scarborough. The M1 motorway is close by, and Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is half an hour drive away. Six miles away, in Leeds city centre, you can see jousting re-enactments at the Royal Armouries Museum or come face to face with the Leeds Tiger at the Leeds City Museum. If you prefer the countryside, you're only an hour drive from the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors. The hotel's 19 meeting rooms can host up to 300 delegates. The free WiFi throughout the hotel helps you keep up with work. Thorpe Park, home to IBM and Northern Foods, is just over a mile from the hotel, and the local Cross Flats Industrial Estate is also close by. Disappointed

We have stayed here 3 times and this is by far the worst stay we’ve ever had
No recognition for being a member
The first room we had smelt really strong of bleach we went out and came back and it was still as strong. The window was left open so the room was freezing
Went to reception and there was no other room of the same type so was moved to another room
Both rooms had hairs on the beds and the bathroom floors were filthy I did mention this to reception staff they didn’t seem bothered at all
On previous visits we have really enjoyed this hotel but unfortunately we won’t be retuning after this visit
The dirty linen that was piled up on the corridors was not good either guests don’t want to be seeing this and also plates cups and cutlery just thrown on the floor outside rooms you’ve really let yourselves down on this occasion

Location is the only positive.

The only positive of this hotel is that it is walking distance to Universal. The hallways are dark and gloomy. We had a 2-room suite in the top floor. There was a dirty takeout container and a full garbage can left in one of the cabinets. The water went out on Saturday morning mid-shower. There is one water cooler in the lobby and that’s the only place to get drinking water. They told us there was a vending machine in our floor so we went there and it was cash only, the price on the machine was wrong, and it didn’t give us back our change. The toiletries were the bare minimum. I am a diamond elite member and I was not able to use any of my membership perks (food credit, early checkin, etc) on this hotel. Do better.

The staff went ballistic on me when they saw that I was celebrating my daughter’s 11th birthday. They were concerned immediately that I had a bunch of kids and lead my stay with threats and unprofessional behavior towards me. When I explained my stay, I had to put up a fight with the manager. After I worked things out, the manager was not seen again. During my stay they never had pool towels filled and the staff at the front desk were away at breakfast checkin. I was never asked about my stay. I was avoided.

Be careful!

This hotel is right next to a freight train track. The entire back of hotel is very loud when the train goes by. Those are the odd number rooms. You must get a room on the front side of hotel (even number) if you want to get any sleep.
