Stay in Flowood

We love to stay at Staybridge Suites when we travel. They are consistently comfortable and make for a great lodging experience. With that said this property was a bit disappointing. The room was clean but the pillows in the room were not the standard quality we have come to expect at all the Staybridge Suites.

My wife likes to go to the lobby early and read while I sleep before we have our breakfast. When she got to the lobby there was no coffee made / available (again unlike the standard we have come to expect). Other lodgers (workmen) were also looking for coffee before they left for work and had to leave without their morning cup.
The two staff members were each sleeping and could not be roused with a telephone ringing at the front desk.

An hour or so later , breakfast was served on time and was great. The breakfast hostess had been busily working in back preparing everything for breakfast. She was great.

All told, I am not sure we would return to this property again. I hope they get their problems worked out as this was an exception to our normally high standards we have consistently found staying at staybridge properties.

Great Downtown Location

Upon arrival, I was surprised to find a lobby full of guests waiting to check in. However, by 4pm, the rooms were ready, which was a bit unusual compared to my typical hotel experiences, where early check-in is often offered if a room is available. The hotel itself seemed a bit dated, and unfortunately, it didn&amp;#39;t feel as upscale as I expected from a Holiday Inn compared to a Holiday Inn Express.

The room did have a refrigerator with a freezer, which was a nice touch. However, there was no microwave in the room, though one was available for use in the lobby. There was a Keurig in the room, but I was disappointed to find that there was no complimentary coffee or water available in the lobby. I was also left wondering why Holiday Inn doesn’t offer a free breakfast – something I’ve come to expect from other chains.

Despite these downsides, I did appreciate the consistent housekeeping service; fresh towels were provided daily throughout our three-night stay. The location was ideal for the event we were attending nearby, making it a convenient choice overall. Still, I do wish I had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for a more consistent experience.

Stay away

Upon arrival, the place did not match the pictures I saw on the app. I sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes trying to find another place to stay, but nothing reasonable was available. Although the lobby was clean and modern, the carpet in the stairwell and hallways was outdated. There was no elevator, so I had to drag my suitcase up the stairs to the second floor, which was inconvenient. Overall, I didn't feel that it was a clean and safe environment. I decided I would never stay there again and checked out the following day.

Horrible experience

Bugs flying around in the room and then at 3:00 in the morning the toilet didn't want to flush then I. Called the hotel to let him know what's going on and if I can get a different room or if I can get my money back because they said that there was not another room no one called me back for about 2 or 3 hours until I called them and they said they had a room ready for me

Manager Lodricka was horrible

Fridge went out thursdsy replaced it Saturday. That was fine. But manager didn’t get back in til Monday was supposed to be compensated for the groceries I bought that went back because I didn’t have a receipt said there was nothing she could do. But I have a voicemail from the this place saying that I had food in there and that he put the food in the other fridge and that my food did go bad.

Bad service/unprofessionalism

Bad service

I booked and paid thru 3rd party. when i checked in i informed agent that last minute the coach informed us that the tournament was only the 8th and 9th now so i would be checking out the next day. I noticed that i was not refunded so i reached out to location and they told me to reach out to 3rd party agent i booked thru. So when i did they reached out to property stating they will not return my money because i booked thru a 3rd party. I called location and talked to the manager She stated the same that they want people to book directly thru them and not 3rd parties so they dont issue refunds. She stated i booked thru 3rd party to save money when i shouldve booked directly thru them instead. Then after i got off phone, they charged my card for more money. For what reason i dont know what excuse. They wont answer phone now.

Worst Hotel Experience of My Life

On Monday (the first) night, there was a stain on my bedsheets. Get moved to a different room. It had a hairball, but I sucked it up for one night because I didn&#39;;t want to move again. The front desk lady said she&#39;d have the manager call me the next day and make things right. When I got home from work Tuesday, I saw they cleaned my room, but my bed sheet had stains again. The new front desk lady said housekeeping was gone for the day, and only one other room was available. I looked at the bed in that one, which had stains, too. I had an evening commitment and didn&#39;t have time to switch hotels. So I sucked it up one more night. The front desk girl admitted those were stains and that she&#39;d let the manager and housekeeping know so I wouldn&#39;t have stained sheets again tomorrow. On Wednesday, I didn&#39;t hear from the manager again. At night, I returned to the hotel and found out the general manager was in the back. I asked the front desk man to have her come out since I haven&#39;t heard from her yet. She comes out in a terrible mood. I said two front desk ladies said you would call me the last two days; why haven&#39;t you? The manager said that she has been busy. But I was on list to get my room cleaned and the front desk worker will give me some points. I said I just better have a clean bed tonight. Then I go up to my room. It&#39;s the exact same stained sheets as Tuesday night. I didn&#39;t get clean sheets. I called the front desk, and he said she&#39;d get the manager to come up to look at my same stained sheets. I waited 15 minutes and nothing. I called back down, and the front desk said the general manager was tired and had worked a long day, so she decided to go home instead. I can find another hotel or go to another room. I went to another room, and the sheets were fine. The general manager never called me back to apologize, and all I got was 1000 reward points. Don&#39;t stay at this hotel. They wasted my time and caused me way too much stress. The manager didn&#39;t care.

Absolutely the worst experience

Upon entering the room, I immediately encountered several issues that made my stay uncomfortable. The bathroom door would not shut properly, as it was misaligned with the lock and could not be secured for privacy. Additionally, the lock on the outside of the bathroom appeared to have been tampered with, as it was bent and unusable.

The cleanliness of the bathroom was also concerning. There was hair all over the tub, towels, and wall. In the kitchen sink there was dried spoiled milk. The counters were dirty, and there was a stain on the wall near the west bed that looked like it had been caused by a liquid spill and was never cleaned.

To make matters worse, we encountered two cockroaches during our stay, which we left on tissues in the bathroom for the housekeeping staff to see.

On Friday night, we attempted to switch rooms but were informed that no rooms were available and that I could speak with management the following day. I contacted guest services Friday night and Saturday morning, who referred me to the front desk, again. When I spoke to the front desk staff on Saturday, she assured me she would do everything possible to rectify the situation and promised to call me back. After waiting for three hours without any communication, I returned to the front desk, as I had an event to attend. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was given your business card and told that you aren&amp;#39;t bothered on the weekend but would be in on Monday. Unfortunately, I was told there was nothing she could do at that moment, but she could move me later, which was not feasible due to my schedule.

Moreover, I noticed that the staff member at the front desk had a child with her behind the desk, which was quite distracting during our interactions.

Upon checking out on Sunday morning, I was not given a receipt for my stay. The front staff attendant stated she couldn’t provide one due to the printer not working and assured me she would email me one, which she has still failed to do as of 9:00p.m. Sunday evening.

Additionally, I was overcharged for my room. As an IHG member, I booked online for the amount of $286.76, but I was charged $311.78, which is a $25.02 upcharge with no explanation. The amounts were seen on IHG app and my bank account due to no receipt given.

As an IHG member, I feel that I should be treated better and that my loyalty should be recognized.

I reached out to the General Manager via email about all of my issues and still have yet to receive an email or a phone call back.
