Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts London - The City

Unacceptably poor stay

This one-night stay was a disaster from start to finish. Room not clean, bathroom not clean. Damaged fixtures and fittings. Skirting board off wall revealing electrical cabling. Dirty stains on walls. Wallpaper peeling off in places. Not a king size bed but a zip and link bed base. Television did not work. Minibar would not open. Club lounge disorganised - other club floor / suite guests complaining. I took photos of all the defective items on my phone for my own records. Reservation rate type incorrect - front desk staff refused to help and correct - despite this being a property managed by IHG Management Services. Spoke to management on two occasions while on-site in attempt to resolve. Attempted further telephone calls and sent written correspondence to property in order to try to resolve. Nothing resolved. Wholly unsatisfactory experience.

A stylish London hotel offering upscale dining, an indoor pool and a spa.
Crowne Plaza® London Docklands hotel offers stylish accommodation a six-minute walk from the ExCeL London exhibition centre. London City Airport is a 10-minute cab ride from the hotel. The O2 arena is 15 minutes away by the IFS Cloud Cable Car car over the Thames; Custom House Elizabeth Line station and Royal Victoria DLR station is only five minutes' walk away. From there, trains can whisk you to Canary Wharf in 15 minutes or to Bank station in the City in 25 minutes.
You can host conferences for up to 275 people in our eight flexible meeting rooms, with natural light, AV equipment and free Wi-Fi. There's a breakout area for networking, and our Crowne Plaza Meetings Director can manage all the little details.

Flew down to city airport and good location, 3 stops on the DLR. the hotel is clean and rooms good but what is going on with the reception staff !

recognised as a spire member so started ok. Then was offered welcome points or a drink. Chose the points and actually chatted for a while on this topic. But 7 working days later still not appeared ( the IHG site says wait up to 5 days ). That is poor.

Needed to change the billing address to my company location and add a VAT number. I do this most weeks in IHG hotels with no problem. Seemed to take an age till somebody helped the person manning the reception how to accomplish this pretty easy ask.
That is also poor.

Sheffield Express is great, the staff are exceptional and location is bang on, the quality of the hotel and rooms are tip top. Sheffield as a city is great and underestimated, give it at try and use the Holiday Inn Express, it will not disappoint

This Holiday inn is in a great central location although get there early as parking is a real problem if the Hotel is busy but there are places close by.
