Below Expectations

The conversion of the hotel into a proper IHG property is obviously not complete; either in terms of hardware and staff service level. There were hardly any smiles everywhere i went and many facilities are still at their old shabby state. Please continue to upgrade to make this place a better hotel deserving the IHG brand.

No AC in the room

The room was sizable and we enjoyed the extra room. The staff was very kind and breakfast was delicious. It was difficult to sleep in a room with no AC. There were no batteries in the thermostat and I thought that was why it wasn’t working. I asked for batteries and they brought them right away but the AC still didn’t work. The thermostat did read the temperature of the room at 75 degrees. It was way too hot to sleep. There were several areas of the hotel that needed repairs or maybe some cosmetic attention. I chose this place for the location and it is very close to historic Natchez.

Good location if you want to stay downtown

The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. We appreciate them. Hotel and room are clean. Good location to walk to restaurants and sights.

However, the antiquated a/c and heating system is very noisy, which interferes with a peaceful stay. The vent gushes hot air, resulting in dry air in the room. This causes our throats to be sore. No kettle to boil water to make tea. The room and bathroom are rather small. Very little space for personal accessories in the sink area. And not enough hooks to hang clothes and to dry towels in the bathroom.

Overall Excellent, But

Overall Staff, Room, & Facility was excellent, but in the evening while my husband and I were trying to rest, there was a group of children running through halls, slamming of exit door to stairs next to our room, & running up & down stairs. This started at 8:30pm - after 10pm. I tried calling front desk but no one answered. This continued in morning with children throwing ice in hallway. These guests ruined our stay.

Terrible Experience

Let me start off saying we always try to stay on an IHG property. This by far was the worst place we have ever stayed. The staff was very courteous and accommodating, and the room appeared fresh and clean.

After we returned from dinner, we got ready for bed and when I laid down, I got a “whiff” of this terrible odor. I tried to determine where it was coming from. It wasn’t the comforter, sheets, mattress or mattress pad, but then I sniffed closer to the carpet area. It wreaked the smell of pet urine and that’s when I noticed the carpet was soiled.

I notified the front desk and he confirmed there were no other rooms available for the night and there was really nothing he could do. I asked for Febreeze. He wasn’t sure if they had any available and he would call me back to let me know. Five minutes later he called me back and told me he had found some, and to come to the front desk to get it.

It made matters worse for several hours, because the febreeze seemed to enhance to odor instead of eliminating it. After several treatment sorayst during the night, I finally placed two towels over the soiled area and it created a barrier from the odor.

The front desk was very accommodating the following morning and had documented my concerns during our stay.

Lesson learned….do not stay in pet friendly hotels!

Property is fine, management not so much

Full disclosure - I erroneously booked my room at this hotel for the wrong date. Upon check in I was informed that my reservation was for the night before.

Stayed at this property before, Spire status, etc… I was told that it was not a problem & that they’ll adjust my stay.

Wrong - upon check out (very early), bill was as promised.

The ‘no show’ appeared on my next cc statement.

I tried to contact the operator on numerous occasions. Failed to respond to each attempt.

Plenty of options in the area..

Will seek them out!

Poor management. Avoid like the plague.

My wife and I booked a 2 night stay and a few hours into the first night the hotel lost electrical power. The back up generators didn't work. There was no heating or cooling, no lights, no hot water, no elevators and it was very dark in the building. The phones didn't work and their computer system was down. The hotel became uncomfortable and dangerous to stay there. We had to wait for the sun to come up to have enough light to exit the building, UNDER THE CURRENT CONDITIONS IT WAS A CODE VIOLATION TO HAVE GUEST THERE.

After packing up our belongings and navigating down dark hallways and stairs to get to the front desk. We told him we were checking out. As we exited the building the manager said we would receive a refund. He of course couldn't check us out or refund our money then because the computers were down. He would do the refund when the computers came back up. My wife heard him tell another guest that he wasn't prepared for the power outage and that's why the generator didn't come on.

I did contact Holiday Inn Express's national support but they don't have my billing information to give a refund but I should receive one but the hotel manager (Varroon) would have to do that since he has my billing information.
Needless to say the manager is now denying me my refund and denying that he said he would give a refund, Which is a lie on his part. Giving a refund under those conditions is like a no brainer. The manager never responded to my email and every time I called I was told he was in a meeting and he never returned my calls.
